Applications are invited for a fully-funded 4-year PhD scholarship within the Computational Web Intelligence (CWI) lab. The research will be conducted in cooperation with the Laboratory of Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS), an organizational unit within the Institute of Computing Science of the Poznań University of Technology.
The PhD scholarship involves the extension of the dominance based rough set approach (DRSA) by means of fuzzy logic, used at the stage of defining rough approximations. These fuzzy-rough approximations are then used in inductive learning of decision rules. The set of decision rules induced in this way is on one hand a preference model and on the other hand a basic classifier in an ensemble used for classification of unseen objects. It will build on the results of previous research conducted at CWI, IDSS and at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Catania.
Your key responsibilities include:
* Designing new fuzzy rough set models of DRSA, and performing analysis of their theoretical properties;
* Designing new ML algorithms to test the proposed models;
* Setting up experimental studies with benchmark data to evaluate your algorithms;
* Working together with other PhD students and senior researchers involved in the project;
* Reporting and presenting your research in top-tier international journals and conferences;
* Successfully defending a doctoral dissertation at Ghent University, leading to a joint PhD degree in co-tutelle with Poznań University of Technology;
* Contributing (to a limited extent) to teaching and community engagement activities within the department.
We are especially interested in candidates with the following profile:
* A Masters' degree in Computer Science or Mathematics;
* Very good to excellent study grades, as evident from university trannoscripts;
* Excellent programming skills (e.g. Java, Python, ...);
* Good knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling;
* Knowledge of multi-criteria decision aiding methodologies is a plus;

Dear colleagues,
We are inviting you to participate in the Fact Extraction and Verification (FEVER) shared task, for which we make available a dataset of 200K claims verified against Wikipedia. The participants will be invited to submit denoscriptions of their systems which will be presented during the FEVER workshop at EMNLP 2018. Task Definition
The purpose of the FEVER challenge is to evaluate the ability of a system to verify information using evidence from Wikipedia.
Given a factual claim involving one or more entities (resolvable to Wikipedia pages), the system must extract textual evidence (sets of sentences from Wikipedia pages) that support or refute the claim. Using this evidence, label the claim as Supported, Refuted given the evidence or NotEnoughInfo (if there isn’t sufficient evidence to either support of refute it). One piece of evidence can consist of multiple sentences that only if examined together provide the stated label (e.g. for the claim “Oliver Reed was a film actor.”, one piece of evidence can be the set {“Oliver Reed starred in the Gladiator”, “Gladiator is film released in 2000”}).

Multiple PhDs and Postdoctoral Positions in Social and Information Systems at MPI-SWS
The Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS, http://www.mpi-sws.org/) is growing its presence in social and information systems with multiple PhD and postdoctoral positions under the supervision of Manuel Gomez Rodriguez, Krishna Gummadi and/or Adish Singla.
MPI-SWS is at the forefront of research in a large variety of topics in social and information systems, from fairness, accountability and transparency in algorithmic decision making, temporal point processes for modeling and control of social processes, to the emerging field of machine teaching. Researchers at MPI-SWS have published extensively in the top conference in the field (e.g., NIPS, ICML, KDD, WWW, WSDM, ICWSM) and received numerous awards, including an ERC Advanced grant, several Humboldt postdoctoral awards, and best/runner-up paper awards at NIPS, WWW, or ICWSM.
Applicants should be highly motivated and creative and have an exceptional background in machine learning, probability, optimization or social computing, as well as excellent programming skills. Postdoctoral applicants should have a strong track record of research publications in top tier conferences and a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Statistics & Optimization).
MPI-SWS currently has 13 tenured and tenure-track faculty and about 50 doctoral and post-doctoral researchers and is located in Kaiserslautern and Saarbruecken, in the tri-border area of Germany, France and Luxembourg. 🚩 لطفا دقت فرمایید، فایلهایی که شمارههای یکسان دارند، به نوعی همزمان باید اجرا شوند. به عنوان مثال در فولدر مربوط به هفتهی اول، فایلهایی در سه فرمت مختلف داریم که همگی آنها با شمارهی 05 آغاز شدهاند. فایل HTML: صفحهای از وبسایت کورس بوده؛ فایل mp4: فایل ویدئویی این بخش از کورس؛ و فایل PDF: متن سخرانی این فایل ویدئویی میباشد. با کمی دقت، ترتیب بقیهی فایلها نیز به سادگی قابل دریافت است.
🚩فایلهای هر هفته در فرمت zip هستند. بنابراین برای باز کردن فایل دانلود شده، شما به یک نرمافزار یا اَپِ زیپریدر نیاز خواهید داشت.
