Postdoctoral Research Scholar/Scientist at Columbia University
Columbia University invites applications for postdoctoral research scholar/scientist or associate research scholar/scientist positions to begin July 2022. Interdisciplinary postdoctoral positions are available in the Presidential Scholars in Society and Neuroscience program for researchers who have earned the doctorate, or its equivalent, in either (1) a humanities, arts, or social science discipline – such as psychology, psychiatry, public health, law, history, economics, literature, political science, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, journalism, music and the arts ― and who have extensive acquaintance with, and critical understanding of, neuroscience research; or (2) neuroscience or a related discipline in the natural sciences and who have extensive acquaintance with, and critical understanding of, another discipline in the arts, humanities, or social sciences.
Presidential Scholars in Society and Neuroscience is an innovative program pioneering interdisciplinary research between neuroscience and the arts, social sciences, and humanities. Each Scholar in this highly selective program has proposed a novel cross-disciplinary research project at the intersection of neuroscience and at least one other field, which they will conduct over the course of the three-year fellowship. Presidential Scholars join a vibrant community of postdoctoral researchers and faculty mentors and affiliates from across Columbia University.
Review of applications will begin after December 13, 2021, and will continue until the positions are filled. Candidates must hold a doctoral-level degree (PhD, EdD, JD, MD, etc.) by July 1, 2022, and must have received this degree after July 1, 2017. For this application season, the program recognizes that there is a growing need for Presidential Scholars who have experience examining questions about diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and decolonization broadly defined. Priority will be given to applications that align with the program’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

Call for applications - Science of Intelligence Berlin - Cluster of Excellence
Call for 11 research positions (Phd and Postdoc)
Application deadline: 25 November 2021 23:59 h CET
Cross-disciplinary research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, control, robotics, computer vision, behavioral biology, cognitive science, psychology, educational science, neuroscience, and philosophy.
Starting dates: Summer / Fall 2022
Duration: 3 years
Salary level: TV-L 13, 100%
What are the principles of intelligence, shared by all forms of intelligence, whether artificial or biological, whether robot, computer program, human, or animal? And how can we apply these principles to create intelligent technology?
Answering these questions - in an ethically responsible way - is the central scientific objective of the
Cluster of Excellence Science of Intelligence (https://www.scienceofintelligence.de/).
Researchers from a large number of analytic and synthetic disciplines - artificial intelligence, machine learning, control, robotics, computer vision, behavioral biology, cognitive science, psychology, educational science, neuroscience, and philosophy - join forces at this multi-disciplinary research program across universities and research institutes in Berlin.
Our approach is driven by the insight, that any method, concept, and theory must demonstrate its merits by contributing to the intelligent behavior of a synthetic artifact, such as a robot or a computer program. These artifacts represent the shared "language" across disciplines, enabling the validation, combination, transfer, and extension of research results. Thus, we expect to attain cohesion among disciplines, which currently produce their own theories and empirical findings about aspects of intelligence.
Interdisciplinary research projects have been defined which combine analytic and synthetic research and which address key aspects of individual, social, and collective intelligence. In addition, the Science of Intelligence graduate program promotes the cross-disciplinary education of young scientists at a doctoral and postdoctoral level.
All doctoral researchers associated with the cluster are expected to join the Science of Intelligence doctoral program (https://www.scienceofintelligence.de/education/doctoral-program/).
The cluster welcomes applications from all disciplines that contribute to intelligence research.
To apply, please visit https://www.scienceofintelligence.de/call-for-applications/open-positions
where details of the individual research projects are also available.
Please submit your applications by *25 November 2021 23:59 h CET* in order to receive full consideration.
