Imaging and machine learning: Multiple Graduate student positions are available in the area of imaging and machine learning with applications in the tumor microenvironment for a newly funded NIH program. Graduate students will develop novel algorithms and software to identify biomarkers of tumor response based on multiplexed spatial and high dimensional discrete genomic data. Spatial data are collected from both 2D- and 3D-microscopy. This is a great opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art large-scale data that are generated from modern instruments and to develop novel methods for their analysis. Applicants must have a master's degree in computer science or engineering with solid programming skills in Python or related languages. Interested applicants should send their CV to bparvin@unr.edu with the Subject heading "Prospective Student."

The Neuroscience of Emotion and Thought Lab, directed by Dr. Jessica Andrews-Hanna, and the Laboratory for Social Connectedness and Health, directed by Dr. David Sbarra, are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join a collaborative and co-supervised multi-method NIH-funded project at the University of Arizona. The project (R01MH125414-01) aims to understand how the interplay between self- and other-focused thought affects loneliness and other mental health outcomes in the context of close relationships. We have already amassed a sizeable functional MRI, ambulatory assessment, and psychophysiological dataset in clinically depressed and non-depressed adults, available to the postdoc for analysis and publication. The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to deliver presentations, author publications, and engage in other professional development opportunities. In addition to the PIs on this study, the project has a number of highly visible co-investigators, and the postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to build relationships with these scientists as well. The Department of Psychology at University of Arizona is a thriving intellectual community that values interdisciplinary and team science.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience or a related field, with hands-on experience in functional MRI and/or brain network analyses, and an interest in social cognition, self-focused thinking, clinical psychology/neuroscience and/or natural language processing. A solid data analysis and statistical skill set are preferred for this position, as well as an interest in open science. The position is for 1+ years with a negotiable start date but ideally no later than January 1, 2023. A purely remote work option is not possible for this position.
The University of Arizona is located in Tucson, Arizona, a vibrant, eclectic, and affordable city surrounded by four mountain ranges at the heart of the beautiful southwest. At the University of Arizona, we value our inclusive climate because we know that diversity in experiences and perspectives is vital to advancing innovation, critical thinking, solving complex problems, and creating an inclusive academic community. Accordingly, we provide equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or genetic information.

Interested individuals should send their C.V. and a denoscription of their research interests to David Sbarra (dsbarra@arizona.edu) and Jessica Andrews-Hanna (jandrewshanna@arizona.edu), who will provide further details on the application process.

Job Posting for Cornell University Postdoc in social and community neuroscience
Dear all,

Please see the post for a new postdoc position in my lab. We are looking forward to adding a member and getting some COVID-delayed projects off the ground.

Thank you!

-Marlen

------------------

The Life History Lab at Cornell University is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate to work on the lab’s behavioral and MRI projects. This individual will also help with the activities of the Community Neuroscience Initiative run from the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Science. Individuals from underrepresented groups in STEM and those committed to equity are highly encouraged to apply. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

The Life History Lab is led by Dr. Marlen Z Gonzalez. LHL examines mechanisms of social determinants of health through a social and community neuroscience lens. We study how physical and social affordances calibrate neural systems and behaviors especially as they relate to social and affective processes in adolescence and adulthood. The lab collects behavioral, survey, psychophysiological, geographic information system, genetic, and MRI data.

The Community Neuroscience Initiative (CNI) is a program directed by Dr. Gonzalez which seeks to democratize neuroscience towards community empowerment. The initiative focuses on providing neuroeducation to educators and students, providing consultations for community-serving organizations, and promoting community using art and neuroscience. Our programming predominantly focuses on Syracuse NY and some traveling is possible.

Responsibilities: The post-doctoral associate will predominantly work on data analysis and manunoscript preparation for already collected multi-echo fMRI and behavioral data as well as help establish newer projects. They will also help in the training of RAs and graduate students in data collection and analysis and grant preparation as needed. There will be some opportunity to develop new projects based on data already collected or in the process of data collection. New data collection may be possible given careful consideration and feasibility. The post-doctoral scholar must have a start-up mindset ready to tackle different technical challenges as they arise. This includes feeling comfortable troubleshooting MRI-safe data collection apparatuses (with some supervision) and setting up documentation for other trainees. CNI duties will be generally less common but include developing dissemination materials and engaging with community members on neuroscience topics relevant to the community. The postdoctoral student may enhance or limit their engagement with CNI projects depending on their goals.

Required experience and skills:

· PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or other related field

Strong quantitative analytical skills
Experience with structural and functional MRI data analysis
Scripting in BASH, Python, and/ or MATLAB
Ability to work independently and in teams
Preferred experience:

Working with non-student/ community populations
Citizen science or community based participatory research experience
Experience with acquiring and analyzing ABCD data
Provide names and email addresses of three references as part of the application process.

Candidates can apply through academic jobs online using this link. You can also email Dr. Gonzalez (mzg5@cornell.edu) with your CV or research interests if you would like some clarification before applying. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the role is filled. Start date is negotiable, but earlier is preferred.
