“Perform Hajj and ‘Umrah Regularly”: A Prophetic Encouragement
Al-Ṭabarānī reports in his Al-Muʿjam Al-Awsaṭ the narration of Jābir (رضي الله عنه), the Prophet ﷺ said:
“أَديموا الحج والعمرة فإنهما ينفيان الفقر والذنوب كما ينفي الكير خبث الحديد”
“Perform Hajj and ‘Umrah regularly, for they remove poverty and sins just as the bellows removes the impurities of iron.”
Authenticated by Al-Albānī in Al-Silsilah Al-Ṣaḥīḥah (1085) and Ṣaḥīḥ Al-Jāmiʿ (253)
This ḥadīth encourages believers to perform Hajj and ‘Umrah regularly according to their ability. The verb “أديموا” indicates continuity and consistency, not necessarily yearly repetition, but maintaining a connection to these acts.
The Prophet ﷺ mentions two major benefits:
1. Removal of poverty:
Scholars explain that Allah places barakah in one’s wealth, grants new avenues of provision, and protects the servant from the constriction of poverty. The spending done for Hajj is replaced by Allah with better.
2. Removal of sins:
Hajj and ‘Umrah cleanse the heart and soul, just as intense heat purifies iron by removing impurities. Their combined rites involve physical effort, du‘ā’, tawāf, humility, and sacrifice, all of which purify the believer.
The simile of the bellows highlights the transformative power of these acts: they burn away sins and spiritual rust, elevating the believer.
Let this ḥadīth be your motivation and take the next step toward these virtues by joining our ‘Umrah journey.

The Reward of Walking to Jummah
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever washes on the day of Jummah and takes a bath, then leaves early and walks (does not ride), sits close to the Imaam, listens attentively, and does not talk or play, will have a reward for every step he took from his house to the masjid equivalent to fasting and praying for an entire year.”

How is it that Donald Trump can call Somalis “garbage,” yet no one from the Salafi community responds?
Perhaps it is because Trump is widely recognised as a reckless, thoughtless, and foolish novice occupying the presidency—a person who, by his very nature, does not merit a response.
As a poet wisely said:
إِذا نَطَقَ السَفيهُ فَلا تَجِبهُ * فَخَيرٌ مِن إِجابَتِهِ السُكوتُ
"When the fool speaks, do not answer him; for silence is better than responding to him."
فَإِن كَلَّمتَهُ فَرَّجتَ عَنهُ * وَإِن خَلَّيتَهُ كَمَداً يَموتُ
"If you address him, you relieve his agitation; but if you leave him be, he will perish in his spite."
Another poet reflects similarly:
أوكلما طن الذباب زجرتُه * إن الذباب إذا علي كريم
"If every time a fly buzzes I chase it away, the fly gains a place of status with me."
Even before such wisdom, Allāh ﷻ instructs:
{وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِینَ}
"Turn away from the foolish." [Surah Al-Aʿrāf: 199]
It should also be noted that the real problem with Trump’s statement is not that many Somalis receive benefits—large families often qualify—nor that a minority may commit fraud through false disability claims or other forms of abuse. Such issues, regrettably, are present in many societies. The true problem lies in his indiscriminate generalisation, which transforms the behaviour of a few into a blanket accusation against an entire nation.
Advice for Somalis and Muslims in general
We must understand that the kuffār do not wish for us to live as Muslims, nor to practice or preach Islam freely in their lands. As Allāh ﷻ says:
{وَلَن تَرۡضَىٰ عَنكَ ٱلۡیَهُودُ وَلَا ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمۡ}
"Never will the Jews or Christians be pleased with you, until you follow their faith." [Surah Al-Baqarah: 120]
Your very adherence to Islam is already difficult for them to tolerate. To claim benefits from them while living by your faith is even more unbearable in their eyes.
As Allāh ﷻ reminds us:
{قَدۡ بَدَتِ ٱلۡبَغْضَاۤءُ مِنۡ أَفۡوَ ٰهِمۡ وَمَا تُخۡفِی صُدُورُهُمۡ أَكۡبَرُ}
"Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater." [Surah Āli-ʿImrān: 118]
If Trump seeks to “Make America Great Again” by expelling Muslims to lands they have historically interfered with or harmed, then it is only logical for Muslims who struggle to practice their faith there to consider returning home. By doing so, they can bring their knowledge, skills, and experiences to contribute positively and help make their own countries great again.
Allāh ﷻ says:
{إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ تَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ ظَالِمِیۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ قَالُوا۟ فِیمَ كُنتُمۡۖ قَالُوا۟ كُنَّا مُسۡتَضۡعَفِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ قَالُوۤا۟ أَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ أَرۡضُ ٱللَّهِ وَ ٰسِعَةࣰ فَتُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِیهَاۚ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَسَاۤءَتۡ مَصِیرًا (97)}
"Verily, as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for them), they (angels) say: 'In what condition were you?' They reply: 'We were weak and oppressed on the earth.' They (angels) say: 'Was not the earth of Allāh spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?' Such men will find their abode in Hell—what an evil destination!"
{إِلَّا ٱلۡمُسۡتَضۡعَفِینَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَاۤءِ وَٱلۡوِلۡدَ ٰنِ لَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ حِیلَةࣰ وَلَا یَهۡتَدُونَ سَبِیلࣰا (98)}
"Except the weak among men, women, and children who cannot devise a plan, nor are they able to direct their way."
{فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ عَسَى ٱللهُ أَن یَعۡفُوَ عَنۡهُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ٱللهُ عَفُوًّا غَفُورࣰا (99)}
"These are they whom Allāh is likely to forgive, and Allāh is Ever Oft-Pardoning, Most Forgiving."
{وَمَن یُهَاجِرۡ فِی سَبِیلِ ٱللهِ یَجِدۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُرَ ٰغَمࣰا كَثِیرࣰا وَسَعَةࣰۚ وَمَن یَخۡرُجۡ مِنۢ بَیۡتِهِۦ مُهَاجِرًا إِلَى ٱللهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ یُدۡرِكۡهُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ فَقَدۡ وَقَعَ أَجۡرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللهِ وَكَانَ ٱللهِ غَفُورࣰا رَّحِیمࣰا (100)}

Shortly after I shared the above post (https://news.1rj.ru/str/madrasatuna/5500), a respected brother kindly brought to my attention the following response from one of the Salafi Sheikhs of Somalia:
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
To proceed:
It is no surprise that, in these days, the President of the United States issues harmful accusations and false charges directed at the Somali community. No one can alter the truth or deny history. The Somali people have distinguished themselves through service to Islam, honouring it, and showing disdain for disbelief and its adherents. Perhaps one of the most notable characteristics of this community has been their deep aversion to America, a profound dislike for it.
We ask Allāh to grant victory to His Book, the Sunnah of His Prophet ﷺ, and His believing servants. All praise is due to Allāh, the Lord of the worlds.
Recorded reflections, 14 Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1447 AH

The first time my mother was afflicted with cancer, it was in the spine. The illness began beneath the breast as a small lump, and we did not notice it at first. Then we went to al-Ghaydah, and the lump grew larger. After that, we confirmed whether the lump was cancer, and it turned out to be cancer. The news was extremely painful and deeply saddening for us.
We went to Seiyun and then moved immediately to al-Mukallā for treatment. Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, decreed that my beloved mother—may Allāh have mercy on her and forgive her—undergo surgery. After the operation, she used chemotherapy and became extremely exhausted, yet she bore it patiently for the sake of Allāh, the Exalted.
After she completed the doses, she returned to the mosque, to lessons, and to doing good for the women at Masjid Ibrāhīm bin Bashḥūḥ, where the virtuous Shaykh Yaḥyā al-Ḥajūrī teaches. By Allāh, she used to walk despite being severely ill. At times she would feel dizzy in the mosque, and she would take her medications with her to the mosque—may Allāh have mercy on her and forgive her. She would go in the morning and not return until the noon adhān, then go in the afternoon and not return until after ‘Ishā’—may Allāh have mercy on her and forgive her.
Then, in the middle of Ramaḍān before Maghrib, she had a seizure. We said perhaps it was just a seizure illness and, Allāh willing, it would not return. But it returned. So we said we should go for tests. We went to al-Mukallā and were examined, and it turned out that the cancer had spread to the brain. We grieved with a grief known only to Allāh.
After that, we administered more doses, and the doses exhausted her greatly. Despite all of this, she continued to go to the mosque and attend her lessons. She became weary from the doses and suffered daily. Then severe, intense pain came to her head. We rushed her to the hospital, and she became very ill. We transferred her to al-Mukallā, where she suffered an exhaustion known only to Allāh.
Then she remained for a month after leaving Ibn Zayla‘ Hospital in al-Mukallā without awareness—may Allāh have mercy on her and forgive her.
Then, after the Friday prayer, we fed her and gave her something to drink. We tried to raise her a little, and she stood up. Then we laid her on the bed, and her abdomen moved slightly.
After that, we found no movement in her body. We moved her, but there was no response. We said perhaps it was dizziness. So we rushed her to be sure, and then the painful, heartbreaking news came—the hardest day of my life.
That severe day, the day I bid farewell to my mother, the day my mother died. It was as if a lightning bolt struck me from the intensity of the painful news. They informed us that she had passed away—may Allāh have mercy on her.
She had refused to travel to France and said, “I am a migrant—imagine if I were to die on the road.” May Allāh have mercy on you, my mother, with vast mercy.
By Allāh, then by Allāh, she was patient and seeking reward through this illness despite its severity. By Allāh, when I looked at her during her illness, I marveled at the strength of her patience and her seeking reward. May Allāh have mercy on her, forgive her, admit her into His Paradise, and make her grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise.
By Allāh, my mother, the grief does not leave my heart. O Allāh, grant me patience, O Lord of the worlds. May Allāh have mercy on you, my mother. What a wonderful mother you were—raising us, patient, seeking reward. O Allāh, forgive her, have mercy on her, expand her entrance, and honor her abode, O Most Merciful of the merciful. Have mercy on my monotheistic, patient, reward-seeking mother.

Ah, ah, ah, my mother—by Allāh, my heart is torn apart with grief.
But illness removes all sins and purifies them thoroughly. So we hope that you were purified of sins and that you were a migrant. Allāh the Mighty and Majestic said: “And whoever leaves his home emigrating to Allāh and His Messenger, then death overtakes him—his reward has already fallen upon Allāh.” My mother—may Allāh have mercy on her—left as a migrant to Allāh and His Messenger, from the land of disbelief to the land of Islam. She was patient and sought reward until she passed away, and her migration was completed. All praise is due to Allāh until He is pleased, O Lord of the worlds.
May Allāh have mercy on her and forgive her, O Lord of the worlds. I ask you all, please do not forget her in your righteous supplications.

The objectives of marriage according to the Salaf
Asmāʾ bint Abī Bakrin (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said:
Az-Zubayr married me while he had nothing on the earth — no wealth, no slave, and nothing at all except a water-drawing camel and his horse.
_
Al-Bukhārī (5224) and Muslim 2182
Commentary:
Imām al-Qurṭubī (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said:
This indicates that what they considered in compatibility was only religion and virtue, not wealth and affluence, as he ﷺ said:
(فَعَلَيْكَ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ، تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكَ).
“Then choose the one possessing religion — may your hands be rubbed in dust (ie successful).”
This was only because the people’s objectives in marriage were cooperation upon the religion and increasing the Ummah of Muḥammad, the Seal of the Prophet.
And because they knew that wealth is a vanishing shadow and a passing cloud, while virtue remains until the Day of Meeting.
As for today, the situation has been reversed, and people have turned away from what is obligatory to what is absurd or impossible.

We would often hear Sheikh Yahya hafidhahullah encouraging Muslims residing in non-Muslim countries to travel abroad to live, work and seek beneficial knowledge in Muslim countries. He would often say something along the lines of, “If Allah provides for dogs, pigs, the Kuffar and the rebellious ones, do you think He will forsake you while you are seeking His pleasure?”
