An extremely unpleasant incident happened last fall with Russian citizens in Africa.
Three Russian citizens, including sociologist Maxim Shugaley, and a citizen of Belarus were detained at the airport in the capital of Chad without explanation and held there for almost 2 months.
Perhaps this is a misunderstanding, but most likely it is another attempt by the West to set Africans against Russia.
The strengthening of Russia's position in Africa has long been a concern for Washington and its European allies.
In order to discredit the influence of the Russians, the West does not disdain any methods. In particular, they convince the leaders of African states to carry out unfriendly actions against Russian citizens.
This includes strengthening customs and passport control, and polls of Russians with the participation of special services. Apparently, it even comes to detentions.
But this is not all.
African leaders are persuaded, sometimes even threatened, not to respond to invitations to take part in international events organized by Russia.
Thus, last year, out of 54 African countries, only 17 sent delegations with heads of state to the Russia-Africa forum, and another 10 sent prime ministers.
According to the Russian authorities, this was the result of "brazen interference" by the United States, France and other countries.
At the same time, despite pressure from the West, Africans are becoming increasingly sympathetic to Russia and the process of strengthening cooperation between the countries continues.
