“One morning, Caliph al-Muʿtaṣim went to visit Imam Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal in his prison during the ordeal of the Miḥna (the inquisition regarding the creation of the Quran).

The Caliph asked, “How are you this morning, Aḥmad?”

Imam Aḥmad replied, “I am well, O Commander of the Faithful, praise be to Allah. However, I had a dream that has disturbed me and continues to do so. I saw the Quran laid out as if dead. I washed it, shrouded it, and then prayed over it.”

al-Muʿtaṣim said, “Woe to you, Aḥmad! Can the Quran die, or are you mocking me?”

Imam Aḥmad responded, “This is what you say, that it is created, and everything created dies.”

al-Muʿtaṣim then looked at Ibn ʾAbī Duʾād, a leading figure of the inquisition and a scholar of the rulers, who said, “O Commander of the Faithful, I believe he should be flogged; nothing but the whip will discipline him!”

al-Muʿtaṣim said, “Aḥmad, do not kill yourself and answer me affirming the creation of the Quran.”

Imam Aḥmad replied, “Give me something from the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ that supports what you say.”

al-Muʿtaṣim commanded the executioner, “Strike hard, may God cut off your hand.”

The executioner struck the first lash, and Imam Aḥmad said, “Bismi Allāh (In the name of Allah)."

On the second lash, he said, “Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi Allāh (There is no power nor strength except through Allah).”

On the third lash, he declared, “The Quran is the speech of Allah, uncreated.”

With another strike, he said, “Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us.”

Then Ibn ʾAbī Duʾād approached Imam Aḥmad and said, “Aḥmad, whisper a word in my ear that will save you from the Caliph's punishment.”

Imam Aḥmad replied, “Rather, you come close and whisper a word in my ear that will save you from the punishment of Allah.”

Ibn ʾAbī Duʾād signaled the executioner to strike harder, and the flogging continued until Imam Aḥmad lost consciousness.”

𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀:

This is how our Salaf dealt with an oppressive ruler whilst also upholding the truth:

Despite this oppression and words of Kufr, Imam Aḥmad nevertheless continued to obey the Caliph in permissible matters and did not renounce his allegiance, despite the Caliph's belief in the creation of the Quran which is disbelief. The Caliph was not declared an unbeliever because his erroneous belief was seen as a misconception he had and being misled by evil scholars.

The scholars of Baghdad gathered in the reign of Al-Wāthiq (successor to al-Muʿtaṣim), to ʿAbdullāh - meaning Imam Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, may Allah have mercy on him - and said to him:

“The situation has worsened and spread - meaning the emergence of the opinion of the creation of the Quran and other matters - and we do not accept his leadership or authority.”

He advised them to:

“Deny with your hearts, and do not remove your hand from obedience, and do not cause harm to Muslims, and do not shed your 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 and the 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 of Muslims with you, and consider the consequences of your actions, and be patient until righteousness prevails and the evildoer finds peace.”

He said, “This - meaning withdrawing their obedience - is not correct; this 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.”

Whoever Has Wronged His Brother...

It was narrated by Abū Hurayrah (raḍiyAllāhu 'anhu) from the Prophet (ﷺ) that he said:

"Whoever has wronged his brother, whether in regards to wealth or honour, should ask for his pardon before he pays for it [in the Afterlife] when he will have neither a dirham nor a dīnār. If he had any good deeds they will be taken and given to the one whom he wronged, or the bad deeds of the one whom he wronged will be loaded on to him."³²

If the person being backbitten is not aware of the backbiter, the backbiter should ask Allāh's pardon and forgiveness, so that the person will not be made aware of what he has done [regarding his right].

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah is kind and loves kindness, and He rewards for kindness in a way that He does not reward for harshness". Sahih Muslim: 2593.

From this Hadith we learn that dealing kindly and mercifully towards others, will always lead to positive results.

Contrary to that, dealing harshly and arrogantly with others, including your own children, will always lead to negative results.
A person must seek Allah's ﷻ help and continuously ask Him for patience, wisdom and good manners.

HOW ARE MEN KNOWN?

From Sulaymaan ibn Mus-hir: from Kharashah ibn al-Hurr, who said:

"A man bore witness in the presence of Umar ibn al-Khattaab -radiyallaahu anhu, so Umar said to him: “I do not know you, and it does not harm you that I do not know you, but bring someone who does know you.”

So a man said: ‘I know him, O Chief of the Believers.’

He said: “What do you know of him.”

He said: ‘Uprightness.’

He said: “Is he your closest neighbour; so that you know about his night and his day, and his comings and goings?”

He said: ‘No.’

He said: “So have you had (monetary) dealings with him involving dirhams and deenars, which will indicate his piety?”

He said: ‘No.’

He said: “Then has he been your companion upon a journey which could indicate to you his good character?”

He said: ‘No.’

He said: “Then you do not know him.”

Then he said to the man: “Bring me someone who knows you.”[1]

LIFE IS LIKE A SNAKE

‘Ali Ibn Abi Talib said:

“The likeness of this worldly life is that of a snake: soft to the touch, it will kill you with its poison. So turn away from what impresses you of it, since what stays with you is so little. And do not be concerned about it, since you are certain about its parting. And be most happy in it when you are most heedful of it; for every time its companion takes solace in one of its delights, it gives way to one of its woes.”

"Imagine how your parents would feel" ...

"Similarly, now imagine how Allah would feel"...

---------

While explaining SHIRK, many muslims wrongly misrepresent the sifãt of Allah by saying that Allah feels sad or upset when partners are associated with him..

This is a grave error ‼️

Firstly equating Allah عز وجل with his creation in any way is a disaster secondly HE never feels sad nor upset, rather HE is "angry" on the one who does this as per the Prophetic ﷺ explanation.

قلت يا رسول الله، أي الأعمال أبغضُ إلى الله؟ قال: ((الإشراك بالله))

[رواه أبو يعلى بإسناد جيدٍ وصحَّحه الألباني في صحيح الترغيب والترهيب]

Allah ﷻ is the one & only, free from all needs. He is not a helpless weak diety to feel sad.

Allah ﷻ says :

{ لَوْ أَنَّ أَوَّلَكُمْ وَآخِرَكُمْ وَإِنْسَكُمْ وَجِنَّكُمْ كَانُوا عَلَى أَفْجَرِ قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ، مَا نَقَصَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ مُلْكِي شَيْئًا }

[O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as wicked as the most wicked heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not decrease from My Kingdom anything] - Refer Saheeh Muslim.

Please do not explain shirk in this way to any one and keep reading ahadeeth for finer understanding of the deen.

Every minute someone leaves this world behind.
We are all in “the line” without knowing it.
We never know how many people are before us.
We can not move to the back of the line.
We can not step out of the line.
We can not avoid the line.
So while we wait in line -
Make moments count.
Make priorities.
Make the time.
Make your gifts known.
Make a nobody feel like a somebody.
Make your voice heard.
Make the small things big.
Make someone smile.
Make the change.
Make love.
Make up.
Make peace.
Make sure to tell your people they are loved.
Make sure to have no regrets.
Make sure you are ready.

Indeed, the judgment (al-fatwa) changes with the change of time, place, custom, and circumstance. All of this is from the religion of Allah as has been explained, and success comes from Allah.

REMINDER!

We Learn So Many Things But Do Not Act On Them

~ We have learnt that, if we say "Subhanallaah wa bihamdihii" a hundred times, our sins will be forgiven, even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.
Yet, so many days and nights pass us by and we do NOT say these words.

~ We have learnt that, two rak'ahs of Salaatu-Duhaa outweigh 360 acts of sadaqah.
Yet, so many days and nights pass us by and we do NOT observe Salatul-Duhaa.

~ We have learnt that, whoever voluntarily fast for a single day in the path of Allaah , Allaah will distance his face from the fire by seven trenches and also distance his face from the fire by seventy khareefs. Yet, we do NOT observe voluntary fasting.

~ We are aware that, whoever visits a sick person will have 70,000 angels follow him as he returns home, seeking Allah's forgiveness for him.
Yet, we have NOT visited the sick this week

~ We have learnt that, whoever prays upon a dead muslim and follows the corpse to the grave until it is buried will have two Qiiraats of reward; and a Qiiraat is simlar to the size of Mount Uhud.
Yet, so many weeks pass us by and we do NOT go to the graveyards to pray Salatul Janaazah on the dying Muslims.

~ We have learnt that, whoever builds a masjid for Allah, even if it is the size of a bird's nest, Allah will build a house for him in Paradise.
Yet, we do NOT contribute towards the building of masjids.

~We have learnt that, the one who helps a widow and her orphans is like the mujahid fighting in the path of Allaah or like the fasting person who doesn't break his fast at all or like the one who spends the entire night doing Tahajjud and doesn't sleep at all.
Yet, we do NOT partake in the assistance of widows and their helpless orphans.

~ We have learnt that whoever recites a single letter from the Qur'an will get a hasannah, and a hasanah is recorded in ten folds.
Yet, we do NOT bother to recite the Qur'an everyday.

~ We have learnt that, the one who performs Hajj-Mabruur will be rewarded with none other than Paradise and will be recompensed by returning back to his homeland, just as the day his mother gave birth to him (i.e. with a clean slate of sins; all his sins washed away).
Yet, we do NOT bother to fulfil the rites of Hajj, worse for those who have the means, despite the fact that the rites are easy and have been simplified for us.

~ We have learnt that, the honour of a believer is in his getting up to pray Tahajjud at night, and that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, his household and companions) were never negligent of observing Tahajjud all through their lives, even though they were pre-occupied with seeking for their livelihoods, and in spreading the religion of Allah.
Yet, we are extremely negligent in this aspect of worship

~ We have learnt that, the Day of judgement is surely approaching; without any doubt, and that Allaah will surely raise the occupants of the graves.
Yet, we do NOT prepare for this Great Day.

~ We bury the dead and pray janaazah upon them.
Yet, we act heedlessly, as though such a day is NOT meant for us.

My dear brother and sister, know that every single breath you take in, moves you closer to your appointed time; death.

Know now, right now my brother and sister that even as you read this reminder, every single breath you take in reading this moves you closer to your appointed TIME; to your END; your DEATH; your GRAVE.

So, glad tidings to the one who reads these words, understands them, and HASTENS to WORK with them...

Inflation worrying you ?

Some people approached Abu Haazim complaining to him, saying: “O Abu Haazim! Do you not see that the prices (of commodities) have gone up?!” He replied: ❝Why does that distress you? If you're feeling hopeless due to the pain of our ummah. Or if you're feeling hopeless because of a personal trial you're struggling with, I need you to internalise this hadith and hold onto it with everything you have...

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When one of you calls upon Allah, let him hope for the greatest of things. Verily, NOTHING has any greatness over Allah.”

Sahih Ibn Hibban

With everything that's going on, it's so easy to lose hope. But we can't. We must be resilient. And our resilience and hope comes from knowing that when we say Allahu Akbar - that we understand that there is absolutely nothing that has greatness over Him. Nothing!

Whether it's a scholar, a student of knowledge, an imam or just a normal person like ourselves; every single person is going through his or her own tests.

If you take a millionaire, you will find he has worries. Take a poor man and he also has worries. Take anyone in between and you'll find concerns and worries there aswell.

Such is the nature of this dunya. Right until we leave this world we will be faced with tests and trials. Some will be minor but others will feel like they will break us. When we are going through the test it's difficult but afterwards we always see how Allah gave us patience and perseverance to deal with it.

Compare the blessings of this life to just some of the delights of jannah:

○ In this life wealth comes and goes. One day you are rich but the next you might be poor
♧ In Jannah there is no poverty. The soil is of musk and trees of gold. Rivers of water, honey, wine and milk. Palaces and hollowed out pearls miles high

○ In this life you have energy and ability one moment, but the next moment you're tired or perhaps you're ill
♧ In Jannah there is no fatigue or illnesses or death. It is pure ever-lasting bliss

○ In this life you're children or family are in danger from thieves or animals or oppressors
♧ In Jannah there is no ill feeling and no thieves or oppressors. There is pure safety

○ In this life your wife might leave you or marry again after your death
♧ In Jannah the hooris can only see their husbands and they are only for them

○ In this life there are bills and taxes and financial worries
♧ In Jannah everything is free and forever

○ In this world our beauty fades
♧ In Jannah the people will continue increasing in their beauty

○ In this world our neighbours might be difficult or ill-mannered
♧ In Jannah the neighbours will be the scholars and righteous and martyrs

○ In this world we have the speech of Allah
♧ In Jannah the people will see Allah

So don't sell Jannah for this lowly dunya. Don't sell an eternity of happiness for a short moment of pleasure. May Allah grant us Jannah.

The more older I get the more I understand the verse… 🤔

Indeed, [O Muhammad Pbuh], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.
(Surah Al-Qasas)

We can only guide and make dua for people. Ultimately if they choose another path. This is ultimately the will of Allah. 🙏

Family relationships are deteriorating at an outstanding rate. 😢

If your children, siblings, parents and ultimately your spouse is not focusing on the deen then you are going to facing trials and tribulations. This is because Allah wants you to connect and come back to him.

Until we don’t look within ourselves and understanding we can only change ourselves, become better human beings and ultimately our connection to Allah, we cannot change anything externally.

Peace out…
