Fasting on the day of 'Arafah is an expiation of the sins in the previous year & the year after it.

'Allamah Al Manawi (d. AH 1031, may Allah have mercy on him) listed 3 possibilities on how a day of fasting (on the day of 'arafah) could be an expiation of the sins for the whole *upcoming* year (in future) and said :

(أن يكفر السنة التي قبله) يعني يكفر الصغائر أي المكتسبة فيها (والسنة التي بعده) بمعنى أنه تعالى يحفظه أن يذنب فيها أو يعطي من الثواب ما يكون كفارة لذنوبها أو يكفرها حقيقة ولو وقع فيها ويكون المكفر مقدما على المكفر

1) It maybe that Allah protects his slave from sinning in the coming year if he fasts on the day of 'Arafah..

OR

2) It maybe that Allah gives reward equal to the sins committed in the following year and this is how fasting on the day of 'arafah nullifies the sins of the year coming after.. (i.e in future)

OR

3) It maybe simply that Allah forgives all upcoming sins (minor ones) in reality and th
e mukaffir (expiator) precedes the expiated (mukaffar) !

And there exists not the likes of such a case in any kind/form of worships (in Islam) ... [Ref - Fayd al Qadeer 4/230]

-----------------------------------------------

Added to above is a small advise from me that those who aren't in the gulf must fast tomorrow with Makkah which is the actual 'arafah for hujjaj and also the 9th of dhul hijjah of your respective countries in which ever part of the world you maybe because that is the safest and it also coincides with the sunnah of fasting other days.

Lastly, a request to not forget me in your du'as.
'Aishah (May Allaah be pleased with her) reported:The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

"The two raka'āt before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains."

[Muslim]

Another narration goes: "The two rak'āt before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are dearer to me than the whole world."

*Note: This is done between the Adhaan and the obligatory Fajr prayer

The day of ‘Arafah, the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, is close at hand. And it is one of the most important days for the believers. Rasulullah salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:

🌺 ❛The best supplication is that which is made on the day of Arafah…❜ 【Sunan at-Tirmidhi 3585 | Graded fair by Sh. al-Albani rahimahullah】

Imam an-Nawawi rahimahullah said (with slight adjustments): ❛This is *the* best day in the year for supplicating. Thus it befits a person to fully devote his efforts in making dhikr, du'a, and reciting the Qur'an, and he should supplicate with the different kinds of supplications, and read the different kinds of dhikr.

He should supplicate for:
— himself,
— his parents,
— relatives,
— teachers,
— companions, friends, loved ones, and anyone else who was good to him,
— as well as all the Muslims.

And let him be fully cautious from falling short in any of these, as this day cannot be made up.❜ 【Kitab al-Adhkar, Imam an-Nawawi】

On the day of Arafah, ask Allah for whatever you want! But focus more on seeking Allah's forgiveness and being freed from the Hellfire, because there is not a day in which Allah frees His servants from the Hellfire more than the day of ‘Arafah.

Include also the following supplication, because Rasulullah ﷺ said that this is *the* best du’a on that day:

🌺 ❛The best of it (i.e. supplication) is what was said by myself and the Prophets before me:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

🌿 Laa ilaaha illa Allah, wahdahu laa shareekalahu
(There is no God but Allah alone, without any partners)

🌿 Lahul-mulk, wa lahul-hamd, wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shayin qadeer.
(Unto Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He has power over all things.❜

【Sunan at-Tirmidhi 3585 | Graded fair by Sh. al-Albani rahimahullah】

May Allah accept from all of us.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Teach, and make things easy, and don’t make things difficult, and remain silent when angry, and remain silent when angry, and remain silent when angry”
Musnad Ahmad: 2556 (Authentic Hadith).

Explanation of the Hadith:

“Teach” - teach people from the good and beneficial knowledge you have.

“Make things easy and don’t make things difficult” - make things easy upon yourself, by doing that which you’re capable of, concerning matters of worship and matters of life, while making sure you give each family member their right.

“And remain silent when angry” - He ﷺ repeated it 3 times, emphasising how dangerous speech during anger could be, since it’s most likely that people will say something regrettable, such as swearing and curse, and all this displeases Allah ﷻ.

Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No days are better to Allah than the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, are they better or time spent waging jihad in the way of Allah?” The Prophet said, “They are better than time spent waging jihad in the way of Allah. No day is better to Allah than the day of Arafat. Allah descends to the lowest heaven and He boasts to the inhabitants of the heavens about the inhabitants of the earth, saying: Look at My servants, appearing disheveled and dusty. They came from every mountain pass hoping for My mercy. They do not see My punishment, yet they do not see that on no day are more saved from Hellfire than the day of Arafat.”

📌 Don't forget to recite Takbeer Al-Tashreeq after every fardh salah until Asr on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah.

📌 It is wajib to recite this Takbeer once after every fardh salah on the above days. Men should recite it audibly in a moderately loud voice and women should recite it in a soft voice.

Imam Ibn Rajab رحمه الله said,

"Tomorrow the souls will be repaid what they earned,

And the sowers will harvest what they sowed,

If they did well, they did well for their own selves,

And if they did poorly, then how wretched is what they did!

The pious predecessors used to exert themselves in completing an action, and perfecting it, and excelling in it, and then they would be concerned about its acceptance after that, and fear that it might be rejected. And these are those who “give what they give while their hearts are fearful [because they will be returning to their Lord]” [23:60].

It is narrated from ‘Ali (raadiAllaahu ‘anhu) that he said, “Be more concerned about the acceptance of deeds than about the deeds themselves. Haven’t you heard Allah say, “Indeed, Allah only accepts from the muttaqoon.” [5:27]?

And Faḍaalah ibn ‘Ubayd said, “That I would know that Allah has accepted so much as a mustard seed’s weight from me is more beloved to me than the dunya and everything in it, for Allah says, "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the muttaqoon” [5:27]."

For those unable to perform Hajj this year, consider the insightful words of al-Imām ibn Rajab al-Hambali, [may Allāh have mercy on him]:

"Whoever cannot stand at ‘Arafah, let him uphold the boundaries set by Allāh. Whoever cannot spend the night at Muzdalifah, let him spend it in obedience to Allāh, drawing nearer to Him. Whoever cannot offer a sacrifice at Mina, let him sacrifice his desires to attain his goals. And whoever cannot reach the Ka‘bah due to its distance, let him move towards the Lord of the Ka‘bah, for He is closer to him than his jugular vein."

Eid is a time of Happiness and Joy

It's sad to see Muslims not being happy for Eid, being depressed, not dressing up in their best clothes, not attending Eid Salaah, not visiting family and friends and expressing joy and sleeping all day as if this day means nothing.

Unfortunately we are more excited for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, bridal showers, baby showers even mothers day and fathers day all these celebrations which have NO basis in Qur'aan and Sunnah. We put so much effort, planning, decorating, even taking day off from work for imitation of the non Muslims. May Allah guide us to be thankful to Him for Eid and to express joy on this day.

What Is Certainty?

Ibn Masʾūd (رضي الله عنه) Said:

Certainty is that you neither please the people to displease Allāh nor envy anyone for the provision Allāh has given him, nor blame anyone for what Allāh has not given you; because Allāh’s provision will neither come to you through the eagerness of the one [who wants it to come to you] nor will it be repelled by the dislike of the one who dislikes that [it should be given to you].

Narrated by Aisha:

"The Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered a horned ram with black legs, a black belly, and black around its eyes, and it was brought to him to sacrifice. He said to Aisha: 'O Aisha, bring the knife.' Then he said: 'Sharpen it with a stone.' So she did. He took it, then took the ram and laid it down. Then he sacrificed it, saying: 'In the Name of Allah. O Allah, accept (this sacrifice) from Muhammad, the family of Muhammad, and the Ummah of Muhammad.' Then he sacrificed it."

If you don't know who Allah is then read this!

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) described the greatness of Allaah in the most beautiful way:

"Allah is controlling the affairs of all the kingdoms. He commands and prohibits, creates and gives provision, and gives death and gives life. He raises and lowers peoples status, alternates night and day, gives days (good and not so good) to men by turns, and causes nations to rise and fall, so that one nation vanishes and another emerges. His command and decree are carried out throughout the heavens and on earth, above it and below it, in the oceans and in the air. He has knowledge of all things and knows the number of all things. He hears all voices, and does not mistake one for another; He hears them all, in all the different languages and with all their varied requests and pleas. No voice distracts Him from hearing another, He does not confuse their requests, and He never tires of hearing the pleas of those in need. He sees all that is visible, even the walk of a black ant across a solid rock in the darkest night.

The unseen is visible to Him, and secrets are known to Him Whosoever is in the heavens and on earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring forth (such as giving honour to some, disgrace to some, life to some, death to some, etc.)! [al-Rahmaan 55:29 interpretation of the meaning]. He forgives sins, eases worries, relieves distress, helps the defeated person back on his feet, makes the poor rich, guides the one who is astray and confused, fulfils the needs of the desperate, feeds the hungry, clothes the naked, conceals faults, and calms fears. He raises the status of some and lowers the status of others Even if all the inhabitants of heaven and earth, the first and the last of them, mankind and jinn alike, were to be as pious as the most pious among them, this would not increase His sovereignty in the slightest; if they all, the first and the last of them, mankind and jinn alike, were to be as rebellious as the most rebellious among them, this would not decrease His sovereignty in the slightest. If everything in heaven and on earth, the first and the last of them, mankind and jinn, living and dead, animate and inanimate, were to stand in one place and ask of Him, and He were to give them everything that they asked for, thiswould not decrease what He has by even an atoms weight.

He is the First, before Whom there is nothing, and the Last, after Whom there is nothing, may He be blessed and exalted. He is the Most deserving of being remembered, the Most deserving of being worshipped, the Most deserving of being thanked. He is the Most Compassionate of kings, the Most Generous of those who are asked He is the King Who has no partner or associate, the One who has no rival, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who has no son, the Most High, and there is none like unto Him. Everything will perish save His face [al-Qasas 28:88 interpretation of the meaning], and everything will vanish except His sovereignty He will not be obeyed except by His permission, and He will not be disobeyed except with His knowledge. He is obeyed, so He shows His appreciation, and He is disobeyed, so he forgives. Every punishment on His part is justice, and every blessing from Him is a favour. He is the closest of witnesses and the nearest of protectors. He seizes people by their forelocks, records their deeds and decrees the appointed time for all things. Hearts conceal nothing from Him, for secrets are known to Him. His gift is a word and His punishment is a word: Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, Be! and it is.

[Yaa-Seen 36:82 interpretation of the meaning]. (Adapted from al-Waabil al-Sayib, p. 125)"

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐭, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞?

Giving 1/3rd of sacrificial meat to the poor, 1/3rd to the poor, 1/3rd to the relatives is indeed a great deed but nowhere sanctioned in the Shari'ah. The source of this was from a man who used to distribute his crops everytime in this ratio and Allah loved his action. So yes, some sahabah adopted this way but its not an obligation.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to give a generic command for all like :

1) Eat some.
2) Preserve some (for later)
3) Give some in charity.

Although he ﷺ himself was so generous that he sacrificed 100 camels but ate only a few pieces out of one camel and gave out the entirety of it to his companions and the needy. Allahu Akbar. Look at his generosity.

Based on this, Imam Ash Shafi'ee (rh) said:

"It is mustahabb (recommended to give out most of it in charity)... "

Since there seems to be no limits defined on how much to eat and how much to save and how much to give in charity, Imam Malik (rh) said:

“There is no limit to what may be eaten or given in charity or used to feed the poor or the rich, whether one wants to give it uncooked or cooked.”

Allah ﷻ says in Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 28:

لِّيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ وَيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَّعْلُومَاتٍ عَلَىٰ مَا رَزَقَهُم مِّن بَهِيمَةِ الْأَنْعَامِ { فَكُلُوا مِنْهَا وَأَطْعِمُوا الْبَائِسَ الْفَقِيرَ}

{..... Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor who have a very hard time}

𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 :

Of a surety giving most of is best (sunnah) and not giving anything out of it is against the command of Allah.

May Allah make us generous and accept from us.

Don’t forget to praise God in nature, near trees, plants, animals, birds, fish & even lifeless objects like stones, - because they will testify for us on the Day of Judgement.

ALLĀH IS THE PROTECTOR OF THE RIGHTEOUS

ALLĀH said,

Verily, my protector is ALLĀH Who has revealed the Book (the Qur'an), and HE protects the righteous.

ALLAH'S support is sufficient and HE will suffice for me, HE is My supporter, I trust in HIM and take refuge with HIM. HE is my protector, in this life and the Hereafter, and the protector of every righteous believer after me.

Similarly, the people of Hud said,

"All that we say is that some of our gods have seized you with evil (madness)."

Hud replied: "I call ALLĀH to witness, and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe (as partners in worship, with HIM (ALLĀH)). So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. I put my trust in ALLĀH, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but HE has the grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on a path that is straight. {Hud: Verse 54-56}

Advice for those who are going through financial struggles.

1. Don't worry much about how hard your financial situation is rather understand that you are asking from Allah the One and Only One who has access to unlimited resources and the one who if he gives you everything in this world it still doesn't take away anything from him majesty and he can give the same to every single person.

2. Always make this dua

Allaahumma 'innee 'a'oothu bika minal-hammi walhazani, wal'ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhala'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaali .

O Allah , I seek refuge in You from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from | being overcome by debt and from being overpowered by men.

3. Hustle the halal way. Make use of your free time to find halal ways of earning. Starting small is better than not starting at all. Restrict your lifestyle to avoid any unnecessary spending.

4. Don't take financial advices from those who want to charge you for their advice or course. Don't take advice from people who haven't achieved financial freedom. Most people who flaunt wealth are drowning in debts. So don't get carried away by the glitter.

5. Understand that wealth is not the end goal and just a means to earn more good deeds. So even after all your attempts you fail then know that it's what's best for you to enter Jannah.

6. Spend in Allah's way when you don't have. Everyone spends when they have. Remember Allah sees and knows everything you do.

7. Give up sins. Sins are one of the major reasons why there is no barakah in your wealth.
