"The closest a servant is to his Lord is when he is in prostration." • [رواه مسلم ٢٨٤]
Sheikh Uthaymīn رحمه الله stated: "This is because he has placed his forehead (face) - the highest and most honourable part of his body - down into the ground where people treat upon with their feet, in doing so he demonstrates the perfection of subservience to Allāh."
The one standing up is actually higher up physically than the one down in prostration, however since the prostrating one humbled himself to Allāh, consequently Allāh raised him and so he is actually closer to Allāh."
So if is appropriate you make plentiful supplication in these prostrations - whether obligatory or supererogatory prayers -, and you supplicate for whatever you wish (after completing the prescribed supplications) as long as it's not a sin or cutting the ties of kinship.
So a student of knowledge may ask, "O' Allāh increase me in knowledge and grant me understanding and memorisation", the one building a house may ask, "O' Allāh aid me in the completion of the house", the youth may ask "O' Allāh grant me a wife", ... and so on."

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Those who deal mercifully with others, Allah will deal mercifully with them, therefore, show mercy to those on Earth so that the one in the Heavens may show you mercy.”
The Hadith is very simple and straightforward, if we don’t show mercy and compassion to each other, especially during times of hardship and calamity, we risk losing the most important mercy that matters to us, and that is, the mercy of Allah upon us.
This is a serious matter. Stop cursing each other and stop hating each other, Allah ﷻ made us believers and He commanded us to maintain the tie of brotherhood with each other. So adhere to His command, and avoid the path of the Shaytaan, the path of hatred and arguments.
May Allah ﷻ not hold us to account for what the ignorant and foolish amongst us have done. Aameen

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever takes the money of the people with the intention of repaying it, Allah will repay it on his behalf, and whoever takes it in order to spoil it, then Allah will spoil him."

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawzeeyah said:
‘If a person established the Uboodeeyah (servitude of worship) of Sabr (patience) as is necessary, then Allaah changes an affliction for him to an appropriate benefit and a favour.
Transforms a calamity to an award, a disliked matter becomes beloved. Since indeed Allaah Azza wa Jal does not trial a slave to destroy him But in fact, He trials him to test his patience and his servitude of worship of Allaah.
Indeed Allaah Ta’ala has Uboodeeyah (servitude of worship) upon the slave during times of hardships just as Allaah has Uboodeeyah during times of ease.
Allaah has Uboodeeyah upon him regarding matters which the slave dislikes just as Allaah has Uboodeeyah regarding matters which Allaah loves. Most of the creation are given Uboodeeyah in matters they love.
However, the issue is being granted the ability of Uboodeeyah in matters the slave dislikes. There is a variation in the different levels of the worshippers of Allaah, and in accordance with those levels will be their levels with Allaah Ta’ala.’

"To understand what life is, you have to visit 3 locations:
The hospital.
The prison.

At the hospital, you will understand that nothing is more beautiful than health.
In prison, you'll see that freedom is the most precious thing.
At the cemetery, you will realize that life is worth nothing, the ground we walk on today, will be our roof

"Hiring" Imams
We are living in times in which many young and good seekers of knowledge are coming out, they are upon the Sunnah, they promote what is right and forbid what is wrong, they are eager to help the community and have dedicated their entire life, all hours of their day, to learn Islam and serve Muslims as well as the community at large.
In today's dynamics, many Islamic institutions are run by people who have very little knowledge of Islam, and for this reason, many conflicts will take place which will end up with these institutions "firing" the Imam. If the Imam does not compromise at times some of the most basic foundations of Islam to make those in charge of these institutions happy, they will find themselves at major odds.
One thing I will point out is that many reputable Islamic scholars in history maintained their own business and trade while seeking Islamic knowledge, such personalities became highly influential and have contributed to Islam in great ways. They were not at the mercy of a board of directors or other such issues that would detract them from performing their role comprehensively and correctly.
Islamic institutions are not free from issues that any other business or corporation faces, they are run by humans, not angels. Conflicts and a corruption will be present, and again, I emphasize, such things are not unique to Muslims, they happen in churches, not-for-profit organizations, for profit and all others.
For this reason, I feel that it is important for those of us who are seeking Islamic knowledge, with the aim and sincere intention to better themselves and those around them, to maintain our own trades, and not make our source of livelihood depend on a paycheque from the local Masjid or whomever else. It is better to stay independent and teach Islam properly, than to be an employee who does the bidding of people who are sometimes far from practicing Islam properly.
