Signs of a Diseased Heart…

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

• One does not feel any hurt or pain when he commits evil deeds and sins.

• One finds both pleasure in committing sins and tranquility after doing them.

• One looks after less important matters and neglects more important and critical ones.

• One dislikes the truth and has difficulty accepting or submitting to it.

• One feels discomfort being in the company of the righteous and feels comfort in the company of the sinful.

• One is susceptible to misconceptions and doubts, and is attracted to debates and arguments about them rather than to reading Qur’an and other such beneficial acts.

• One is not affected by any kind of admonition.

Why didn't Umar radiallahu anhu go to Allah's Messenger's grave (peace and blessings be upon him) and invoke Allah for rain? Why did he go to the prophets uncle?

Report Narrated / Authority of: Anas
Whenever drought threatened them, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, used to ask Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib to invoke Allah for rain. He used to say, "O Allah! We used to ask our Prophet to invoke You for rain, and You would bless us with rain, and now we ask his uncle to invoke You for rain. O Allah ! Bless us with rain."(1) And so it would rain.
Hadith no: 123 sahih al bukhari chapter 14

If going to graves and invoking allah, seeking blessings and tawassul was allowed wouldn't Umar (one of the great companions) gone to the best grave our prophets (peace and blessings be upon him) ???
Do you claim to know more than Umar radiallahu anhu? Are you more pious than Umar?

The Lock on the Door

we always lock our doors before going outside to protect our valuable properties from the thieves. I have seen people with more than 3 locks on the door & some also have a specialized integrated alarm system against forceful entry! Some also have 24 hours live monitoring systems built in the house. Then one day I was thinking, it is quite sad that we use so many locks in order to safeguard some belonging but, we have little or no locks at all in ourselves to safeguard our Imaan from shaytan & evils of this world. This Imaan, which is more precious than any material thing, needs more protection than our belongings....

Umar bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه said:

Isolate yourself from that which harms you (bad company etc),

(and) you should have a righteous friend, which is very rare to find.

And consult in your affairs (only) those who fear Allah.

Hasan Al-Basri (رحمه الله) advised some of his students admonishing them about avoiding the state of being proud. He said:

1) Do not deceive yourself into becoming too proud because you are in a good or righteous environment, for there is no place that is better than Paradise, and our father Adam ءليه اسلام experienced there what is known to all.

2) Do not become proud merely because you worship often, for consider what happened to Iblis (Satan/Shaitaan) after he spent a great deal of time worshiping.

3) Do not think yourself great because you have met with righteous people, for there is no man more righteous than the Prophet ﷺ yet the disbelievers and hypocrites did not benefit by simply knowing him.

YOU'LL FIND IN HONEY A DEFINITE CURE.

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 71, Number 588:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (radiAllahuanhu):

A man came to the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) and said,

"My brother has some abdominal trouble."

The Prophet (salallāhu alaihiwa-salaam) told him "Let him drink honey."

The man came for the second time and the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) said to him, 'Let him drink honey."

He came for the third time and the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) said, "Let him drink honey."

He returned again and said, "I have done that ' The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) then said, "Allah has said the truth, but your brother's abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey." So he made him drink honey and he was cured.

📌 A simple breath…

Ibn al-Dunya mentioned that the Prophet Dawud (alayhi salam) asked
Allāh:

"What is the least of your blessings?.”

Allāh revealed to him,

"O Dawud, take a breath."

Dawud did so, and Allāh told him:

"That is the least of My Blessings on
you.”

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, “Advise me.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Do not be angry.” The man repeated his request and the Prophet said, “Do not be angry.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 6116]

Explanation by Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān:

The Messenger ﷺ used to get angry but he would not vent it except if the anger is for the sake of Allāh. He was lenient and never retaliated for himself despite the difficulties he faced from the people. He would forbear, forgive, and be nice to the one who has angered him because of His saying:

"But whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allāh." [42:40]

Medication for anger;

1st - As much as possible, do not get angry.
2nd - When you get angry, do not express it; rather you should exercise patience, endurance, and forbearance.

LOVE THIS ANALOGY!

You're holding a cup of coffee and someone accidentally bumps into you, causing it to spill everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

"Because someone bumped into me."

Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. If there had been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.

So, when life shakes you up, whatever is inside you will come out.

It's easy to pretend everything's fine until you're shaken.

So, we have to ask ourselves, "What's in my cup?"

When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy? Gratitude? Peace? Humility? Anger? Bitterness? A victim mentality? A tendency to quit?

Remember LIFE gives you the cup; YOU choose what to fill it with!

It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that a man once said to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ):
Shall I enter Paradise in case I say the obligatory prayers, observe the (fasts) of Ramadan and treat that as lawful which has been made permissible (by the Shari'ah) and deny myself that what is forbidden, and make no addition to it? He (the Holy Prophet) replied in the affirmative. He (the inquirer) said: By Allah, I would add nothing to it.

Arrogance comes in different shapes and forms and all of them lead to a bad ending. It is like the reverse Midas touch, whatever it touches, it turns to dust. You could have mountains of good, but it breaks it down like super termites.

1. The very first incident we see is at the creation of Adam when all the angels were asked to prostrate to him and Iblees refused and disobeyed Allah. Despite having so much 'knowledge' and being with the angels, he claimed to be superior to Adam out of arrogance.

2. The Prophet's ﷺ uncle. Imagine the work done by Abu Talib for his nephew and indirectly for Islam and then compare that with the insignificant work that we try and do. Nothing we do can come close to what he did. If we read about the dreams of Abdul Muttalib, Aminah, the words of Bahira the Monk, the life of Abu Talib in protecting his nephew, and even his poetry, we can say with a lot of surety that he believed the Prophet to have come with the truth, yet he rejected it. His arrogance was the arrogance of pride.

Abu Talib said:
ولقد علمتُ بأن دينَ محمد - من خير أديـان البرية دينـا
I indeed, know that, as a religion, the religion of Muhammad[ﷺ] is amongst the best religions of mankind.
لولا الملامة أو حِذار مسَبَّة - لوجدتَني سمحًا بذاك مبينا
If not for blame and fear of revilement, you would have found me an open acceptor of it."

All our actions will be turned to dust if Allah is not part of the equation.

3. The Pharaoh of this Ummah: Abu Jahl. Abu Jahl used to hide and hear the Prophet ﷺ recite the Qur'an at night despite opposing him in the day. When caught red-handed he said, "We and Banu `Abd Manaf competed for honor and position: they fed people so we fed people, they engaged in battle so we engaged in battle, they gave so we gave, until we were neck and neck, like race horses. Then they said, we have a Prophet among us who receives revelation from heaven. How could we compete with that By Allah we will never believe in him."

4. The Prophet's ﷺ Father-in-law. Our mother Safiyyah narrated of a discussion between her father and her uncle after they saw the Prophet. She said, "I heard my uncle, Abu Yasir, saying to my father, 'Is it really him?' He said, 'Yes, by Allah.' My uncle said, 'Can you recognize him and confirm this?' He said, 'Yes.' My uncle said, 'How do you feel toward him?' He said, 'By Allah, I shall be his enemy as long as I live.'"

5. Bani Israel in general. Building from the above, we know that the Jews had settled in and around Madinah because it was mentioned in their books that the final prophet would emerge there. They knew how his family would be, when and where he would be born, where he would migrate to, his name, his physical characteristics, and much more. Abdullah bin Salam (a Jewish scholar who became a Muslim), said, "I may doubt my children—my wife might have deceived me; but I have no doubt about Allah’s Messenger being the Last Prophet."

Allah says,
Those We have given the Scripture recognize this (Prophet) as they recognize their own children. Yet a group of them hides the truth knowingly. [Surah al-Baqarah, 146]

The Jews were not ready to accept that prophethood was now under Bani Ismail instead of Bani Israel. Their arrogance became the reason for their ultimate loss.

The Prophet ﷺ said, "None humbles themselves for Allah's sake except that Allah raises him" [Muslim]

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said, "Honour is in humility, whoever seeks it in arrogance (i.e. by being arrogant), then he is like the one who seeks water from fire.” [Madarij as-Salikeen]

Imam Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali رحمه الله said, "Some of the salad said, 'Humility is that you accept the truth from anyone who brings it, even if they are young. Whoever accepts the truth from whoever brings it to him, whether they are young or old, whether he loves them or not, then he is humble.

Whoever refuses to accept the truth because he regards himself as too important beside it, or as compared to the person who speaks it to him, then he is arrogantly proud.'" [Jami’ al-Ulum wal-Hikam]

A poet once said,
إذا شئت أن تزداد قدرا ورفعة ... فلن وتواضع واترك الكبر والعجبا
"If you wish to increase in esteem and rank, then be easy-going and humble yourself while abandoning pride and self-astonishment."

May Allah grant us all humility and beneficial knowledge that will be a proof for and not against us. Aameen.

Nowadays people look at the number of their followers. The "social media presence"

This is misguidance. The truth is not known by numbers. I've seen social media accounts with a handful of followers that are very beneficial and I've also seen the opposite. Hundreds of thousands of followers and about as beneficial as a blunt knife.

Let EVERY man know that his dawah is nothing on that of the prophets, yet some of them will come with LESS THAN TEN followers. How many of us would keep up with 'dawah' if only 3 people followed us, after years of preaching?

A reminder to myself and yourselves - followers mean nothing. Tyrants and shayateen have millions of followers. The key is to keep calling to Tawheed and Sunnah with clear knowledge and evidences.

If you ever find yourself thinking "this will be popular" then stop, because what your about to do might just ruin your deeds.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, there were three among the children of Israel whom Allah Almighty intended to test: a leper, a bald man, and a blind man.

He sent an angel to them and he came to the leper, saying: What would you love most? The leper said: I want a beautiful color and beautiful skin, for people have shunned me. The angel wiped over him and it had gone away, then he was given a beautiful color and beautiful skin. The angel said: Which property would you love most? The man said: Camels. Thus, he was given a pregnant camel. The angel said: May Allah bless you in it.

The angel came to the bald man, saying: What would you love most? The bald man said: Beautiful hair and to be rid of this, for people have shunned me. The angel wiped over him and it had gone away, then he was given beautiful hair. The angel said: Which property would you love most? The man said: Cows. Thus, he was given a pregnant cow. The angel said: May Allah bless you in it.

The angel came to the blind man, saying: What would you love most? The blind man said: For Allah to return my sight so I can see people. The angel wiped over him, then Allah returned his sight. The angel said: Which property would you love most? The man said: Sheep. Thus, he was given a pregnant sheep.

The animals had grown and given birth such that one man had a valley of camels, another had a valley of cows, and another had a valley of sheep. Then, the angel came to the former leper while disguised in the shape and appearance of a leper, saying: I am a poor man, bereft of my livelihood while on a journey, none can take care of my needs today but Allah and then you, so I ask by the One who gave you beautiful color and beautiful skin and a wealth of camels to help me reach my destination! The man said: I have many duties. The angel said to him: It is as if I recognize you, were you not a leper shunned by people, in poverty, but Allah gave this to you? The man said: I have inherited it from my forefathers. The angel said: If you are lying, then may Allah return you to what you were before!

The angel came to the former bald man in a similar appearance, saying the same as he had said to the leper and the man responded the same way. The angel said: If you are lying, then may Allah return you to what you were before!

The angel came to the blind man in a similar form, saying: I am a poor man and wayfarer, bereft of my livelihood while on a journey, none can take care of my needs today but Allah and then you, so I ask by the One who returned your sight and gave you sheep to help me reach my destination! The man said: I was once a blind man and Allah returned my sight, I was poor and He enriched me, so take whatever you wish for, by Allah, I will not dispute you today in whatever you take for Allah’s sake. The angel said: Keep your property, for I was only sent to test you and Allah is pleased with you but angry with your two companions.”

Ruling On Appointing A Woman As a Ruler,or Leader

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم⁣

There is no difference of opinion among the scholars that one of the conditions of becoming an Imaam, Ruler, Leader or anything that is similar to it, is that he should be male , because Allah Azza Wa Jalla says, ⁣

"Men are the protectors and maintainers⁣ of women, because Allaah has made one⁣ of them (the men) to excel the⁣ other (the women) …” { Qs. An Nisa' ayat 34 } ⁣

Rasulullah Salallahu'alaihi wa sallam said: ❝No people who appoint a woman in charge of them will ever succeed.❞ { Sahih al Bukhari 4163 }⁣

Imam ash-Shawkaani Rahimahullahu Ta'ala said: ❝Women are not qualified to rule and it is not permissible to appoint them as rulers.❞ Nayl al-Awtaar 8/305

Imam Al-Baghawi Rahimahullahu Ta'ala said: ❝“The scholars agreed that women are not fit to be leaders or judges, because the leader needs to go out to organize jihad and take care of the Muslims’ affairs, and the judge needs to go out to judge between people, but women are ‘awrah and it is not right for them to go out. Because of their weakness, women are not able to do many things. Women are imperfect, and the positions of leaders and judge are among the most perfect of positions for which only the most perfect of men are qualified.”❞ Sharh us-Sunnah 10/77
