An open letter to those who are tired of being strong:

People believe you are strong. It’s because you face every challenge in silence. No one sees you break down and you’ve learned how to hide your struggles from the world. You can still manage to laugh, as if nothing is wrong. But the truth is that your heart feels heavy. You are the one who gives advice, the one people turn to when they need comfort, even though you also need what you are giving.

They say you are strong. It’s because you never show signs of weakness. Even though you have a lot of problems, you remain calm. No one catches you lost in thought, overwhelmed by everything you are going through.

They say you are strong. But the truth is, no one ever asks if you are really okay. You also long for conversations where you can be vulnerable about your sadness and fears and not just about happiness and success. You want someone to see the sadness you hide behind your wide smiles and is willing to wait until you can finally accumulate enough courage to share.

They say you are strong. But the truth is, you are also scared and sad. Everything feels like crumbling and you are afraid that even the last brick of hope you are holding onto will also fall apart.

{Sahih Muslim 2162 b}

Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Six are the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. It was said to him: Allah’s Messenger, what are these? Thereupon he said: When you meet him, offer him greetings;when he invites you to a feast accept it. when he seeks your council give him, and when he sneezes and says:” All praise is due to Allah,” you say Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah show mercy to you) ; and when he fails ill visit him; and when he dies follow his bier.

The ruling on selling water

Muslims share in owning three things: water, pasture and fire. Thus, rain water from the sky and water in springs is not owned by a particular individual, and it is invalid to sell it as long as a person has not put it in his container, his pond, and so on.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Sharh al-Mumti’ (8/140): But if he owns it and acquires it and extracts it and puts it in the tank, then it is permissible to sell it, because it has become his property by means of acquisition. End quote.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

The Prophet (ﷺ) once came out to us and said, "Some nations were displayed before me. A prophet would pass in front of me with one man, and another with two men, and another with a group of people. and another with nobody with him. Then I saw a great crowd covering the horizon and I wished that they were my followers, but it was said to me, 'This is Moses and his followers.' Then it was said to me, 'Look'' I looked and saw a big gathering with a large number of people covering the horizon. It was said, "Look this way and that way.' So I saw a big crowd covering the horizon. Then it was said to me, "These are your followers, and among them there are 70,000 who will enter Paradise without (being asked about their) accounts. " Then the people dispersed and the Prophet (ﷺ) did not tell who those 70,000 were. So the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) started talking about that and some of them said, "As regards us, we were born in the era of heathenism, but then we believed in Allah and His Prophet. We think however, that these (70,000) are our offspring." That talk reached the Prophet (ﷺ) who said, "These (70,000) are the people who do not draw an evil omen from (birds) and do not get treated by branding themselves and do not treat with Ruqya, but put their trust (only) in their Lord." then 'Ukasha bin Muhsin got up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Am I one of those (70,000)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Yes." Then another person got up and said, "Am I one of them?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, " 'Ukasha has anticipated you."

Never Give Up Repenting:

It was said to Ḥasan al-Baṣrī:

“O Abā Sa'īd a man sins then repents, then sins, then repents, then sins, then repents, until when?” He (Ḥasan) said:

“I do not know except that this is the attitude of a believer.”

What's My Future?

The Messenger of ALLAAHصلى الله تعالى عليه وعلى آله وأصحابه وسلم said: "Whoever wants to know what ALLAAH has prepared for him, he should look to what he has prepared for ALLAAH."

[Abu Nu'aym, Al-Hilyah, Silsilah Ahadeeth As-Saheehah]

What a beautiful, simple formula to calculate one's future with! Match yourself against the Quran and the Sunnah to know who you are, and look what you have set aside for ALLAAHتعالى. To know what ALLAAH, THE MIGHTY AND MAJESTIC HAS PREPARED for you.

'O you who believe! Fear ALLAAH and let each soul see what it has sent forward for the morrow and fear ALLAAH.' [Surah Hashr: 18]

'Umarرضي الله تعالى عنه used to say: "Take account of yourselves before you are taken into account, weigh your deeds before they are weighed."

Hasan Al-Basri (Rahimahullah) said: "A believer will always be critical of himself, in his food, his drink and his speech. A sinner will not criticize himself." He also said: "A believer is guardian over himself; he takes account of himself for ALLAAH. Those who take account of themselves in this world, will be audited lightly in the Hereafter. Those who take this issue lightly will find their auditing very difficult."

Imam Ahmad رحمه الله stated:

There will come a time upon people, a believer will be like a stinky carcass (disliked and hated by people around him) among them ! And people will point towards Munāfiq (Hypocrite) their fingers (i.e he is a remarkable person) . They will make the commandments of Allah something in which there is no benefit .

When a believer will see an opportunity for commanding good or prohibiting evil , he will not be patient about it till he commands (good) or forbids (evil), but the people will complain that he is doing something which doesn't concern him i.e there is no benefit in what he is doing !

As for a hypocrite (Munāfiq), whatever he sees , he will not care about it and it will be said about him: What a good person he is , he doesn't intervene in what doesn't concern him."

Fear of a Bad Ending 😢

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

Sufyaan ath-Thawri (rahimahullah) once cried a whole night until the morning, so in the morning he was asked if his cry was due to the fear of sins.

He picked some hay from the ground and said:

“Sins are lighter than this hay, I only cried out of fear of the bad ending!”

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

And this is the peak of Fīqh (knowledge and understanding) that a man fears that his sins (or inner secrets and condition of the heart) let him down at the time of death and that they come between him and the good ending.

Prophet Yusuf A.S spent 7+ years in jail, but he didn't think that those years were being wasted.
He didn't ask Allah that ya Rabb, I'm a prophet.
Why have you put me in this jail where I'm unable to preach your Deen to the masses? I have such important work to do, why am I locked away?
He didn't for a moment think that his time as a prisoner was wasted. He knew Allah had a plan for him, and He trusted that plan.
He preached to the prisoners and did what he could. He was content in the jail, as he was content outside of it when his time as a prisoner was over and he became ruler of Egypt. What's true for Prophet Yusuf (as) is also true for you and I - whatever situation and life circumstance Allah has decreed for us, that's where we are meant to be.

So remind yourself that your
years of struggles aren't wasted.

Your years of grief aren't wasted.

Your years of waiting aren't wasted.

Your years of illness aren't wasted.

Allah SWT has a plan for you, Trust Him. 🤍

If you broadcast your good deeds with the intention of showing off in front of people, do not expect any reward from Allāh, for any deed you did with such intentions.

He knew your heart, and Allāh is the Pure and accepts that which is purely done for His sake alone.

Abu Sa’d reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When Allah gathers the people on the Day of Resurrection, a day of which there is no doubt, an announcement will be made: To those who shared with anyone in deeds done for Allah, then let him seek his reward from those besides Allah. Verily, Allah is free of any partners.”

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

"بَادِرُوا بِالأَعْمَالِ فِتَنًا كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ يُصْبِحُ الرَّجُلُ مُؤْمِنًا وَيُمْسِي كَافِرًا أَوْ يُمْسِي مُؤْمِنًا وَيُصْبِحُ كَافِرًا يَبِيعُ دِينَهُ بِعَرَضٍ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا"‏

Hasten to do good deeds (before you are overtaken) by a fitna which would be like a part of the dark night. During (that stormy period) a man would be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening or he would be a believer in the evening and a disbeliever in the morning, and he would sell his religion for worldly gain.

"Leave behind the traces (of your good deeds) after your death. Perhaps your good deeds, after your death, will (multiply )more than the good deeds (you could earn) in your lifetime."

Allaah تعالى said:

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ

{It is We indeed who bring back the dead to life, and write down what they send ahead (of their deeds), and traces that they leave behind...}

📑 Note:
{and their traces} meaning: their footsteps and walking on the earth with their legs to the Massajid for the five obligatory congregational prayers, and all other good and evil they did, and the legacy they left behind. So, Allaah will requite them for that: if it is good, then Allaah will reward them, and if it is evil, then Allaah will punish them.'

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
(Whoever starts (or sets an example of) something good in Islaam, will have a reward for it, and a reward equal to that of everyone who does it after him, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest. Whoever starts (or sets an example of) something evil in Islaam, will bear the burden for that, and a burden equal to that of everyone who does it after him, without that detracting from their burden in the slightest.)
