Do not attach yourself to any worldly thing, even if it is very beautiful. True attachment should be to Allah alone. Be thankful for the Rizq you receive from Allah, and for what you do not receive, still say Alhamdulillah—

When Do You Truly Know Your Brother?

▪️ Ibn Hibban رحمه الله said:

• Brothers are recognized in times of need,
• because in times of ease, everyone seems to be a friend,
• but the worst brother is the one who abandons his brothers during hardship and need.

This world is a bridge and a bridge should not be taken as a home.

It was reported that (Prophet) Nuh Alayi Salam lived in a house made of wool for nine hundred and fifty years. The Messenger salAllāhu ‘alayhi wasallam never put a stone over another [his house was built of mud] and on Umar ibn al-Khattab’s radiAllāhu ‘anhu garment there were twelve patches. This is because they understood that this world is a bridge and a bridge should not be taken as a home. Thus, whoever fails to be aware of this knowledge will be afflicted with the disease of Sharah, and should cure himself by seeking knowledge and contemplating the biographies of wise scholars.

The joking of the prophet (PBUH)

Narrated Anas ibn Malik:

The Prophet (ﷺ) addressed me as: O you with the two ears. [Abu Dawood 5002]

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to mix with us to the extent that he would say to a younger brother of mine, 'O Aba `Umair! What did the Nughair (a kind of bird) do?" [Bukhari 6129]

Abu Hurairah narrated:
"They said: 'O Messenger of Allah! You joke with us?' He said: 'Indeed I do not say except what is true.'" (Hasan)'[Tirmidhi 1990]

Said Al Imam Al Nawawi (R)

''The 'ulama' say that the kind of Joking that is prohibited is that which is excessive and persistent, for it leads to [excessive] laughter and. hardness of heart, and distracts people from the remembrance of Allah and contemplating important religious matters. Most of the time it leads to harm; creates rancor, and destroys awe and dignity.

What is free from such drawbacks is the permissible joking which the Messenger of Allah used to engage in, because he did so rarely, for some benefit, and to win the heart of the person addressed and to foster intimacy. This is absolutely not prohibited but is a mustaabb Sunnah, provided that it fulfills these conditions.'' [Al Adhkar, p65]

Proofs from the Sunnah:

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

'My example and the example of the Prophets before me is like a man who built a house, which he built and perfected except for the space of one block; people would go around the house and stare in awe at its perfection and say, 'Had it not been for this space!' The Prophet said: 'I am that brick, I am the last of Prophets.'

Narated By Abdullah bin 'Amr : The Prophet ﷺ said, "Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him".

Ibn Qayyim رحمه الله said:⠀

With regard to the Prophet’s guidance concerning drinking, it is the most perfect guidance that maintains good health. He used to drink honey mixed with cold water. This is very healthy and no one can understand how healthy it is except the most prominent doctors. For drinking honey on an empty stomach dissolves phlegm, cleanses the stomach, reduces its viscosity, washes away waste matter, warms it up a little and opens its inlet and exit. It has a similar effect on the liver, kidneys and urethra. It is more beneficial to the stomach than any other kind of sweet that enters it. However it may cause side effects in people who are suffering from jaundice because it is hot and jaundice is hot, so it may aggravate it; in order to avoid this effect vinegar may be added, then honey will become beneficial and drinking it will be more useful than many or most of the drinks that are made from sugar, especially for those who are not used to these drinks, for if they drink them they will not suit them as well as honey does, or even come close. ⠀

With regard to drinking it when it is collected and well-prepared, this is one of the most beneficial things for the body, and one of the greatest means of preserving health; it is very refreshing and energizing, and it is good for the liver and heart. If it is well-prepared it provides nutrition and makes food reach all parts of the body in the most effective manner.”⠀

HOW TO DEVELOP LOVE FOR ALLAH

‎بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Ibn Al Qayyim (Rahimahullah) says:
“The reasons which cause mahabbah (love) of Allah Ta’ala to develop, are ten”:

* Reciting the Qur‘an, reflecting and understanding its meaning and its intent.

* Drawing closer to Allah – the Most High – through optional deeds, after fulfilling the obligatory duties.

* Being continuous in the dhikr (remembrance) of Allah, with the tongue, the heart and the limbs – under all circumstances. The more constant the dhikr, the more mahabbah develops and intensifies.

* Giving precedence to what Allah loves over personal loves, when being overcome by desires.

* Contemplating and deliberating over the Names and Attributes of Allah.

* Recognising and remembering the favours and bounties of Allah – both the manifest and hidden.

* To be humble and submissive before Allah – and this is the greatest matter.

* To be in seclusion reciting the Qur‘an, during that time in which Allâh descends to the lowest heaven (which is the last third of every night), finishing this recitation with seeking Allah’s forgiveness and repenting to Him.

* To sit in the gatherings of true and sincere lovers of Allah, reaping the fruits of their speech, and not to speak except if there is benefit in it and that you know that such talk will increase you in goodness and that it will benefits others as well.

* To stay clear of all those causes which distances the heart from Allah – the Mighty and Majestic.

So these are the ten reasons which cause the person to develop true love for Allah Subhana wa Ta’ala and to reach the rank of al-muhabbah, by which he reaches his Beloved.”

[Madarijus-Salikin (3/17-18).]

Charity repels calamities:

Charity protects the person as stated in the Hadith

“Doing good (to the people) protects one from misfortunes, secret charity extinguishes the anger of the Lord, and keeping ties with kinship increases one’s life span.”

Prayer is the last part of religion to be lost, and if it is lost the whole religion is lost.

It was narrated that Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) said:

The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Between a man and Shirk and Kufr there stands his giving up prayer.”

[Narrated by Muslim, 82]

Hence the Muslim should be keen to perform the prayers on time,

and not be lazy or take the matter lightly.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“So woe unto those performers of Salah (prayers) (hypocrites)! Those who delay their Salah (prayer from their stated fixed times)!”

[Al-Ma’un 107:4-5]

And Allah warns

those who cause their prayers to be lost by saying

(interpretation of the meaning):

“Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up as-Salah (the prayers) [i.e. made their Salah (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times]

and have followed lusts (desires, worldly delusions).

So they will be thrown in Hell”

[Maryam 19:59]

"However, the fact that people are born with fiṭrah does not mean that a human body is actually born with Islamic beliefs. To be sure, when we come out of the wombs of our mothers, we know nothing. We are only born with an uncorrupted heart which is able to see the truth of Islam and submit to it. If nothing happens which corrupts the heart we would eventually become Muslims. This power to know and to act which develops into Islam when there is nothing to obstruct it or affect its natural working is the fiṭrah on which God has created man."
