“The believers are like one body”

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, *“The Faithful are to one another like [parts of] a building – each part strengthening the others” and “Every Muslim is a brother to a Muslim, neither wronging him nor allowing him to be wronged.*

*And if anyone helps his brother in need, Allah will help him in his own need; and if anyone removes a calamity from [another] Muslim, Allah will remove from him some of the calamities of the Day of Resurrection;*

and if anyone shields [another] Muslim from disgrace, Allah will shield him from the disgrace on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim, on the authority of Abd Allah ibn Umar]

New Year = MAJOR SHIRK 🚫
💯12👍2
Look at the state of some Muslims-

Celebrating and congratulating each other over the Gregorian calendar year as if it's some kind of Eid or a turning point Or it'll bring some change in their lives. Pathetic. Audhubillah!

Are these the same people who can't even lift a finger to improve their deen or remember Allah سبحانه و تعالى?

Celebrating what exactly?
Another year closer to death
and accountability?

May Allah سبحانه و تعالى guide the Muslim Ummah away from such shameless acts of imitation and protect us from this filthy, worthless behavior.

If only people put half the effort into seeking Allah's pleasure instead of chasing after meaningless trends.

Ibn Al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"When a person spends his entire day with no other concern but Allah alone, Allah, may He be glorified, will take care of all his needs and take care of all that is worrying him; He will empty his heart so that it will be filled only with love for Him, free his tongue so that it will speak only in remembrance of Him (dhikr) and cause all his faculties to work only in obedience to Him. But if a person spends his entire day with no other concern but this world, Allah will make him bear its distress, anxiety and pain; He will leave him to sort himself out, and cause his heart to be distracted from the love of Allah towards the love of some created being, cause his tongue to speak only in remembering people instead of remembering Allah, and cause him to use his talents and energy in obeying and serving them. So he will strive hard, labouring like some work-animal, to serve something other than Allah… Everyone who turns away from being a true slave of Allah and obeying Him and loving Him will be burdened with servitude, love and obedience to some created being. Allah says (interpretationof the meaning):
'And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah), We appoint for him a Shaytaan (devil) to be a qareen (intimate companion) to him.'

"Indeed, the number of months ordained by Allāh is twelve—in Allāh's Record since the day He created the heavens and the earth—of which four are sacred. That is the right religion (way). So do not wrong yourselves during them"

[09:36]

While the rest of the world celebrates the beginning of their new year through acts of disobedience and innovation, we as Muslims begin to prepare for the month of Rajab which we have now entered. This is a sacred month in which Allāh has mentioned in the Qur'ān the importance of Rajab is also a golden opportunity of preparation for Ramadan (اللهم بلغنا) in which we plant the seeds of good deeds we want to carry over to ramadan and beyond it. fasting, praying, dhikr, seeking knowledge, giving charity; much more.

Do not be distracted by the shiny wordly temptations of a ‘new year’. We don’t copy the disbelievers in their innovations and traditions because the Muslim is constantly seeking improvement of themselves, every night and day through following the sunnah of our beloved Prophet ﷺ and the perfect religion Allāh has blessed us with.

محرم، رجب، ذو القعدة، ذو الحجة
‏المعصية والطاعة فيهن أعظم من غيرهن
During the months of Muharram, Rajab, Dhul-Qa'dah, and Dhul-Hijjah, disobedience and obedience in them are greater than in other months.

‏قال الله تعالى

فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ

Allah سبحان وتعالى says:

"So do not wrong yourselves therein..."
(9:36)

‏وإذا عظمت المعصية فيهن فالطاعة أعظم
‏فلا تغفل وبادر إلى إيقاظ قلبك
‏وتقرب إلى الله تعالى فنحن في شهر رجب.
When sins are more severe during these months, obedience is therefore greater. So, do not be negligent, strive to awaken your heart and draw nearer to Allah for we are in the month of Rajab.

*Keep in mind, the Quran was spoken not written - so how do you map this out in oration? And this surah in particular came in response to a question, and was not a “premeditated” production. Incredible.

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymin رحمه الله said:

If you’d like a minuscule picture of the day of judgement then you should go to the graveyard. You’ll find the noble & the wretched, male & female, & young & old. All are the same, all of them are under the soil. None of them has a palace or servants or anything. And this is why it is said. “The first justice of the hereafter is the graves”.

Giving Charity on Fridays

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

Giving charity on Friday has a special merit compared to other days,

just as giving charity during the month of Ramadan has a higher merit compared to the rest of the year.

I witnessed Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah)

when he would go out for Jumuaah,

he would take whatever he found at home—be it bread or anything else—and give it as charity in secret on his way.

I heard him say:

“If Allah commanded us to give charity before consulting with the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) (58:12),

then giving charity before consulting with Allah is even more virtuous and deserving of merit”

[Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah), Zaad al-Maad, 1/399]

Ibn ul-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

If the one giving charity

knew

that his charity landed in the Hand of Allah

before the hand of the poor person (48:10),

the pleasure of the giver would be greater than the pleasure of the receiver.

Beware Of Loans With Interest!

Ibn Abbas radiya Allahu anhu said in regard to this aayah:

From this we learn that we’re constantly being tested by Allah in this dunya, either in a form of difficulty or ease. And we often forget that ease is actually a form of test — to test us whether we are grateful or ungrateful, whether we’re using Allah’s blessings to seek His rida or otherwise. It’s hard to realise and convince ourselves that moments of ease — such as getting a promotion, getting married, etc — are all tests from Allah.

My teacher reminded us that our life in this dunya is just like a coin, where one side is Sabr, and the other is Shukr. Every incident we go through in life, from the moment we wake up until the moment we return to bed, will be between two incidents that either require Patience and/or Gratefulness — and both are beautiful means to carve our way to Allah’s rida and Jannah.

So remember that when Allah sends us ease, it does not necessarily mean He is pleased with us. And when Allah sends us difficulties, it does not necessarily mean He is displeased with us. They are all tests, and it’s not the tests that we should focus on, rather it’s our attitude that we should work on — whether we are truly exercising sabr and/or shukr.

Be not hasty and rushed for things that have yet to come to pass. Do you think it is wise to pick fruits before they become ripe? Tomorrow is non-existent, having no reality today, so why should you busy yourself with it? Why should you have apprehensions about future disasters? Why should you be engrossed by their thoughts, especially since you do not know whether you will even see tomorrow?

The important thing to know is that tomorrow is from the world of the unseen, a bridge that we do not cross until it comes. Who knows, perhaps we might never reach the bridge, or the bridge might collapse before we reach it, or we may actually reach it and cross safely.

For us to be engrossed in expectations about the future is looked down upon in our religion since it leads to our having a long-term attachment to this world, an attachment that the good believer shuns. Many people of this world are unduly fearful of future poverty, hunger, disease, and disaster: such thinking is inspired by the devil.

Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allāh promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allāh is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

[Qur'ān, Sūrah Baqarah (2), verse 268]

Many are those who cry because they see themselves starving tomorrow, falling sick after a month, or because they fear that the world will come to an end after a year. Someone who has no clue as to when he will die (which is all of us) should not busy himself with such thoughts.

Since you are absorbed in the toils of today, leave tomorrow until it comes. Beware of becoming unduly attached to future prospects in this world.

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A man will follow the way of his close friends, so let one of you look to whom he takes as a close friend.”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2378) and Abu Dawood (4833). Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

Al-Khattaabi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Do not take as a close friend anyone but one whose religious commitment and trustworthiness you are pleased with, for if you take him as a close friend, he will lead you to his religion and madhhab, so do not risk losing your religious commitment and expose yourself to danger by taking as a close friend one whose religious commitment and madhhab you are not pleased with.
End quote.
Al-‘Azlah (p. 141)

Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
What this means – and Allaah knows best – is that a man will get used to what he sees of his friend’s actions. Hence he is commanded to make friends only with those whose actions are only good and permissible.
What this means is that a person should not mix with those who will make him do and believe things that are not praiseworthy. As for one with whom there is no such danger, there is nothing wrong with making friends with him. End quote.

Imām Bukhārī’s respect for hadīth.

Imām Bukhārī once went to see a man in order to hear a Ḥadīth.

The man’s horse had run away from him and stood at a distance.

To make the horse walk towards him he lifted his shirt and acted as if he had barley inside it and began to tempt the animal, this made the animal come back to him, allowing the man to catch it.

Imām Bukhārī asked the man if he really did have barley in his shirt, to which the reply was: “No, I only did it to bring the horse back.”

Imām Bukhārī said: “By Allāh, I will not narrate from you! How can I take a blessed hadīth of the Holy Prophet from a man who lies to animals!?”
