Staying Up Late is From the Calamities – Shaykh Abdur-Razzaaq al-Badr
The Noble Shaykh Abdur-Razzaaq al-Badr (may Allah preserve him) stated:
The matter of staying up late at night (especially in this time of ours) is considered to be from the magnificent calamities and the great tribulations. Also, it has for it many violations against many of the people. From the greatest of the violations that comes as a result of it in this time of ours is the wasting of Salaatul-Fajr (i.e. not praying it on time). By Allah, this is physical calamity. When a person sleeps past this magnificent obligation, he has committed a magnificent crime against his day. Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated, “At the start of the day, the sun has the status of its youth. And at the last part of it, it has the status of it being in its older age and this is something that is known by way of experience.” Whoever grows up as a youth upon something, grows old upon it. Therefore, that which the person is at the beginning of the day, holds to be true about him for the rest of the day. If it is upon vigor, then the rest of the day will be vigorous. If it is upon laziness, then the rest of the day is upon laziness.

"Blind-following does not (cause a person to) inherit anything except stupidity."
- Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, Minhaj as-Sunnah (v. 5, p. 281);
- Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, Minhaj as-Sunnah (v. 5, p. 281);
The Religion is ‘not left up to the intellects of men and their opinions:
From Shaykh Fawzaan‘s حفظك الله explanation of Sharh-us-Sunnah:
His saying, “It was not left up to the intellects of men and their opinions.”
The Religion is not what men deem to be good or what they hold as their opinion, because this is not the Religion of Allaah. This is the Religion of the people, which they have newly invented. As for the Religion of Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, then it is what He legislated. As for that which the men hold as their opinion, based upon their own opinions, this is not the Religion of Allaah the Perfect and Most High. Rather it is just a religion of whoever holds that opinion. So nothing can be ascribed to Allaah from the Religion except that which He legislated upon the tongue of His Messenger sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam. And as for what others besides Him legislated, then it cannot be ascribed to Allaah, rather it can only be ascribed to whoever legislated it, and Allaah is free of it.
He the Most High said:
Do they have partners who legislate for them religion which Allaah has not permitted (Sooratush-Shooraa (42), aayah 21)
His saying, “And its knowledge is with Allaah and His Messenger sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam.” The affairs of the Religion are towqeefiyyah (depend upon text); there must be proofs from Allaah and His Messenger with regard to the affairs of the Religion. The matter is restricted to what occurs in the Book and the Sunnah from the affairs of the Religion. And newly introduced matters and innovations are abandoned, that which Allaah has not sent down any proof for – even if their people hold them to be religion, and they draw closer to Allaah through them, then we turn no attention to these things and we do not believe in them, because the Religion of Allaah is what He legislated and His Messenger.
Because the Religion is based upon knowledge which came from Allaah and His Messenger. And do not follow the desires of the people and the opinions of the people and what they declare to be good and what they follow each other upon, and it has no basis in the Book of Allaah or the Sunnah of His Messenger sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam. Just as he `alayhis-salaatu was-salaam said:
“Whoever introduces into this affair of ours that which is not from it, it is rejected.”
And in one narration:
“Whoever does an action which our affair is not in accordance with, it is rejected”[1]
So the person who wishes that his action be righteous and be beneficial, then he should adhere to two matters:
The first matter: is that he makes his Religion pure for Allaah and free from shirk.
And the second matter: ittibaa` following the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam, free of innovations and newly introduced affairs.
A person will indeed find many things which contradict what is correct in the `aqeedah, matters which contradict what is correct in matters of worship, many of them; (because) the people have desires, and have their own aspirations, and they have their own opinions and they have their own ways (which they follow). So we do not follow the people, rather we present whatever the people are upon to the Book and the Sunnah. So whatever conforms with the Book and the Sunnah then it is the Truth, and whatever contradicts these two then it is false and futile.

*A gift for those who share knowledge*
By Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-’Uthaymeen may Allah have mercy on him
"Surely, spreading knowledge is a reason for propagation of Allah's religion. You become a Mujaahid in the way of Allah. The Mujaahid is one who opens up lands one by one until the deen has spread.
But you are opening the hearts (of mankind) with knowledge, until the legislation (sharee’ah) of Allah spreads."

THE SCHOLARS DO KNOW THE CURRENT AFFAIRS !
Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzan حفظه الله
❓Question: O father and virtuous Shaykh, what is your opinion of the one who says that the major scholars do not know the science of the current affairs, and they do not know the dangers that the ummah is going through due to them being distant from the media and them not having knowledge and awareness of it?
❗Answer: Then (this means) the scholars are ignorant and they are not scholars. This is misguided and mistaken speech. The scholars are not called scholars except that they have knowledge of the current affairs and that they have knowledge of the rulings of the legislation. They are the ones who know the science of current affairs completely. (But) these ignorant people do not know the science of the current affairs and neither do they know the rulings of the legislation."

❝The reasons for disunity are many. From amongst the main causes are:
Firstly, opposing the minhaj (methodology) of the Salaf, the Companions of Allah's Messenger ﷺ and those who follow them.
So the Salaf رحمه الله had a minhaj that they adhered to; a manhaj in aqēdah (creed), a manhaj in da'wah (calling to Allah), a minhaj in enjoining good and forbidding evil, a manhaj in how to judge between people.
This minhaj, in all situations, was based upon the Book of Allah ﷻ and the Sunnah of our Messenger ﷺ.❞

🎓🎓Ibn al-Qayyim on how to give da’wah to those who love the Dunya
The smart one does not command people to abandon the dunya, because this is impossible for them. Rather, he has them abandon sins while they are established in their dunya. This is because abandoning the dunya is an optional virtue while abandoning sins is an obligation. So, how can he command them with something optional while they have not even fulfilled what is obligatory?
If it is difficult for them to abandon sins, he should then strive to get them to love Allah by reminding them of His signs, blessings, Kindness, perfection, and Loftiness. This is because the hearts are naturally designed to love Him, and if they become attached to loving Him, it then becomes extremely easy to abandon sins and to detach oneself from them.
Yahya bin Mu’adh said: ‘The intelligent one seeking the dunya is better than the ignorant one abandoning it.’
The smart one calls the people to Allah from their dunya, and this makes it easier for them to respond to him. The zahid calls them to Allah by way of abandoning the dunya, and this makes it hard for them to respond, since it is very hard to pull someone away from the breast that he has developed his mind while suckling on…’

The Saying, 'I do not know' is half of knowledge
Abudh-Dhayyaal therefore said, "Learn the saying, "I do not know,' and do not learn the saying, "I
know.' Because if you say, "I do not know,' then they will teach you until you do know, but if you
keep saying "I do know,' then they will ask you until you do not know.'
Whoever does this is rightly guided and upon the way of salvation, as Maalik ibn Anas (may Allaah have mercy on him) said,
"It is fitting that the scholar becomes accustomed with regard to matters which are a problem for
him that he says, "I do not know.' And then hopefully good will be made ready for him."
Mentioned by -Ibn 'Abdul-Barr in Jaami' Bayaanil-'Ilm wa Fadlihi (2/53-54), quoting from -Ibn Wahb in his book Al-Majaalis, and it is reported by al-Bayhaqee in Al-Madhkhal ilas- Sunan (no.808) by way of -Ibn Wahb
