Q: Is it permissible for a person to offer an Ud-hiyah (sacrificial animal offered by non-pilgrims) on behalf of a dead person?

A: All Muslims have agreed upon its permissibility. So, it is permissible to offer Ud-hiyah on behalf of a dead person because of the generality of the saying of the Prophet ( be upon him):

When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased).[1]

(Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhy, Al-Nasa'y and Al-Bukhari in his book Al-Adab Al-Mufrad on the authority of Abu Hurayrah)

Offering Ud-hiyah on behalf of the dead is also considered a Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) because it benefits the person offering it, the dead person and other people.

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

This was during the time of the tabieen! How much worse is the situation today subhanallah! May Allah protect us and the rest of our youth from this.

Abu ‘Aasim an-Nabeel رحمه الله said:

“I witnessed Sufyaan ath-Thawree and a youth from the people of knowledge was present at his gathering, and he was behaving as if he were the head of the gathering, speaking out, showing his importance by the knowledge over those: older than him.

So Sufyaan became angry and said, ‘The Salaf were not like this. One of them had not used to claim leadership, nor would he sit at the head of a gathering until he had sought this knowledge for thirty years. But you give yourself importance over those older than you. Get up and leave me, and I do not want to see you near my gathering.”

He said, "And I heard Sufyaan ath-Thawree say,

'If you see a youth speaking out in the presence of the Shaikhs, even if he has reached a level of knowledge, then despair of his being good, because he has little shame.'"

Sh. Rabee Ibn Haadi Al Madkhalee, may Allah preserve him, said,

"If your brother falls into error, you should advise him with gentleness while presenting clear evidence. Allah will bring about benefit this way. As for sitting and watching for someone to fall into error and then spreading it all over the place and saying that he did such and such, then this is a Satanic path. It is not the way of the Salaf."

Few Āyāt to always keep in mind and ponder upon...

“... Unquestionably, the help of Allāh is near!”

[Sūrat al-Baqarā, v.214]

“... Indeed, Allāh does not fail in [His] promise.”

[Qur’ān 3:9, 13:31, 30:6, 39:20]

“... and you will not find in the way of Allāh any change.”

[Qur’ān 33:62, 48:23]

“... And to Allāh belongs [all] ‘Izzah (Honor), and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know!”

[Sūrat al-Munāfiqūn, v.8]

“ And never think that Allāh is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror].”

[Sūrat Ibrāhîm, v.42]
Now...

Abdullah ibn Mas‘ūd (radiy Allaahu 'anhu):

"You are living in a time in which desires are controlled by the truth. [However,] there will come a time in which the truth will be molded by desires. We seek refuge with Allah from that time."

Defend Your Brother’s Honor

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : من ذب عن لحم أخيه بالغيبة كان حقاً على الله أن يعتقه من النار.

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Whoever defends the flesh of his brother from backbiting, it is (his) right upon Allāh that he be freed from the Hellfire.”

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : من رد عن عرض أخيه بالغيب رد الله عن وجهه النار يوم القيامة.

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Whoever protects the honor of his brother in (his) absence, Allāh will protect his face from the Hellfire on the Day of Resurrection.”

📌When the Ignorant Speak about Fitnah it Increases the Fitnah

🔗Explained by Shaykh Sālih bin Fawzān Al-Fawzān

🔸Question: How can we distinguish between being quiet about Fitnah such that the silence is considered blameworthy and not delving into the Fitnah which is praiseworthy?

🔸Shaykh Fawzān: The Fitnah should not be spoken about except by the people of knowledge and the people of insight, it is not for everyone to speak about it. If the ignorant person speaks about the Fitnah it increases the fitnah, but if the people of knowledge speak about the fitnah and clarify it, then it will be extinguished by Allah’s permission. So it is not for everyone to speak about the fitnah, rather the only ones who should speak about it are the people of knowledge and insight, those who know the truth from falsehood and they know the way in which they should speak about it. It is not for everyone to delve into the fitnah, and speak about it and make fatwa and comment about this and that.

Some Benefits (Fawaaid) from the lecture of Al-Allaama Muhammad bin Haadee Al Madkhalee حفظه الله delivered on 06/12/1437 at Masjid Al Farooq, Jeddah

1. Ilm is the best thing to be sought, and the Taalib Al-ilm is the best person to walk on this earth after the Prophets and the Sahaaba

2. The Ulamaa are inheritors of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion. (Abu Dawood) So those who are upon this path, and seek knowledge, are upon the path of the Ulamaa and are from the inheritors of the Prophets.

3. The Sunnah is like the Qur'an. The one who seeks the knowledge of the Sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, knows the saheeh from the da'eef, and knows what is legislated from what is not, then he is from the inheritors of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

4. The Qur'an is in need of the Sunnah. How will one explain the Qur'an without the Sunnah? ِ
Allah says:
وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ

And We have also sent down unto you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the reminder and the advice (the Quran), that you may explain clearly to men what is sent down to them (16:44)

5. In the speech of Allah "إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ (Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). 15:09)" Dhikr includes the Qur'an and the Sunnah

6. Seeking knowledge with the intention of showing off is from the Kabaair, and seeking it with the intention of arguing, and debating is bigger than this Kabaair

7. Hifdh is knowledgel and hifdh is of two types
a. Sadr (صدر): to secure what one hears or reads or memorizes. This is the foundation of Hifdh
b. Sabr (صبر): to be patient until you seek knowledge till you acquire it properly

8. Taalib Al ilm keeps deriving rulings from the texts, so how can he do this when the text is not memorized by him?

9. The young ones are very good at memorizing. Their hearts are strong in retaining what they memorize. So one must make the most of it with regards to their young ones. Indeed, the knowledge is preserved in the hearts, whereas books are only referred to.

10. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was with his Sahaaba from Fajr till Ishaa and did not enter his house except in case of need, teaching them, clarifying their matters, answering their questions, giving verdicts and so on.

11. Acting upon the knowledge sought, is the best fruit that one gets from the knowledge he gained.

12. Knowledge without action is like a tree that doesn't bear fruits

Shaykh al-Albanee Rahimahullah said:

“The majority of those who shout for an Islamic law in the world have neither an Islamic law in their own homes, in themselves, their sons, daughters or their wives. The one who has nothing can’t give anything.”

Ali Ibn Abee Taalib said:

“The likeness of this worldly life (dunyâ) is that of a snake: soft to the touch, it will kill you with its poison. So turn away from what impresses you of it, since what stays with you is so little. And do not be concerned about it, since you are certain about its parting. And be most happy in it when you are most heedful of it; for every time its companion takes solace in one of its delights, it gives way to one of its woes.”

[Ibn Abî Al-Dunyâ, Kitâb Al-Zuhd article 164]
Awn Ibn ‘Abdullah:

“Associate with, and keep the company of those who are forgiving and merciful [to others], for indeed they are the most soft and tender hearted of people.”

[Al-Hilyah, 6/249]
Imaam Abul-Mudthaffar as-Sam'aanee (rahimahullah) said: "The people of the Sunnah say: 'The foundation of the Religion is following (al-Ittibaa) and the intellect is subservient.' So if the foundation of the Religion was upon the intellect, the creation would have been in no need of the Revelation, nor of Prophets, and the meaning of commanding and prohibiting would be false, and whoever wished could have said whatever he wished."

Fasting the Day of Arafah is an Expiation for Two Years!

On the authority of Abū Qatādah al-Anṣārī: “The Messenger of Allāh was asked about fasting on The Day of ‘Arafah. [He replied]: ‘Fasting on the day of‘Arafah is an expiation of last year’s and next year’s sins.’ [Collected by Muslim, 1162].

It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allah’s Favor was completed:

In Al-Saheehayn, it was reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab that a Jewish man said to him, "O Ameer al-Mu`mineen, there is an aayah in your Book which you recite; if it had come to us Jews, we would have taken that day as an 'Eid (festival).” 'Umar said, “Which aayah?” He said (what means): This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. [Surat al-Maa`idah, ayah 3]. 'Umar said, “We know on which day and in which place that was revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ). It was when he was standing in 'Arafaah on a Friday."

Allah Swears by these 10 Days, odd and even:

Allah swears by these days.

1. By the dawn;
2. By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah),
3. And by the even and the odd . [Surat al-Fajr, ayat 1-3]

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, The ten are the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and the odd is the Day of Arafah and the even is the Eid.[Ahmad 3/327, and Bazzar 2286] Ibn Rajab graded the isnad of this hadeeth as being Hasan.

[Taken from Lataif al Ma'rif and Tafseer ibn Katheer].

[Hajj and Tawheed by Dr. Saleh as-Saleh].
On the authority of ‘Aeysha that the Messenger of Allaah [ﷺ] said:

❝There is no other day in which Allaah frees more slaves from the fire than the Day of ‘Arafah. Indeed, He comes close to them then boasts about them to the Angels and then He says: ‘What do these people want?’❞
