Some Benefits (Fawaaid) from the lecture of Al-Allaama Muhammad bin Haadee Al Madkhalee حفظه الله delivered on 06/12/1437 at Masjid Al Farooq, Jeddah
1. Ilm is the best thing to be sought, and the Taalib Al-ilm is the best person to walk on this earth after the Prophets and the Sahaaba
2. The Ulamaa are inheritors of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion. (Abu Dawood) So those who are upon this path, and seek knowledge, are upon the path of the Ulamaa and are from the inheritors of the Prophets.
3. The Sunnah is like the Qur'an. The one who seeks the knowledge of the Sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, knows the saheeh from the da'eef, and knows what is legislated from what is not, then he is from the inheritors of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم
4. The Qur'an is in need of the Sunnah. How will one explain the Qur'an without the Sunnah? ِ
Allah says:
وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ
And We have also sent down unto you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the reminder and the advice (the Quran), that you may explain clearly to men what is sent down to them (16:44)
5. In the speech of Allah "إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ (Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). 15:09)" Dhikr includes the Qur'an and the Sunnah
6. Seeking knowledge with the intention of showing off is from the Kabaair, and seeking it with the intention of arguing, and debating is bigger than this Kabaair
7. Hifdh is knowledgel and hifdh is of two types
a. Sadr (صدر): to secure what one hears or reads or memorizes. This is the foundation of Hifdh
b. Sabr (صبر): to be patient until you seek knowledge till you acquire it properly
8. Taalib Al ilm keeps deriving rulings from the texts, so how can he do this when the text is not memorized by him?
9. The young ones are very good at memorizing. Their hearts are strong in retaining what they memorize. So one must make the most of it with regards to their young ones. Indeed, the knowledge is preserved in the hearts, whereas books are only referred to.
10. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was with his Sahaaba from Fajr till Ishaa and did not enter his house except in case of need, teaching them, clarifying their matters, answering their questions, giving verdicts and so on.
11. Acting upon the knowledge sought, is the best fruit that one gets from the knowledge he gained.
12. Knowledge without action is like a tree that doesn't bear fruits

Ali Ibn Abee Taalib said:
“The likeness of this worldly life (dunyâ) is that of a snake: soft to the touch, it will kill you with its poison. So turn away from what impresses you of it, since what stays with you is so little. And do not be concerned about it, since you are certain about its parting. And be most happy in it when you are most heedful of it; for every time its companion takes solace in one of its delights, it gives way to one of its woes.”

Imaam Abul-Mudthaffar as-Sam'aanee (rahimahullah) said: "The people of the Sunnah say: 'The foundation of the Religion is following (al-Ittibaa) and the intellect is subservient.' So if the foundation of the Religion was upon the intellect, the creation would have been in no need of the Revelation, nor of Prophets, and the meaning of commanding and prohibiting would be false, and whoever wished could have said whatever he wished."

Fasting the Day of Arafah is an Expiation for Two Years!
On the authority of Abū Qatādah al-Anṣārī: “The Messenger of Allāh was asked about fasting on The Day of ‘Arafah. [He replied]: ‘Fasting on the day of‘Arafah is an expiation of last year’s and next year’s sins.’ [Collected by Muslim, 1162].
It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allah’s Favor was completed:
In Al-Saheehayn, it was reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab that a Jewish man said to him, "O Ameer al-Mu`mineen, there is an aayah in your Book which you recite; if it had come to us Jews, we would have taken that day as an 'Eid (festival).” 'Umar said, “Which aayah?” He said (what means): This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. [Surat al-Maa`idah, ayah 3]. 'Umar said, “We know on which day and in which place that was revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ). It was when he was standing in 'Arafaah on a Friday."
Allah Swears by these 10 Days, odd and even:
Allah swears by these days.
1. By the dawn;
2. By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah),
3. And by the even and the odd . [Surat al-Fajr, ayat 1-3]
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, The ten are the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and the odd is the Day of Arafah and the even is the Eid.[Ahmad 3/327, and Bazzar 2286] Ibn Rajab graded the isnad of this hadeeth as being Hasan.
[Taken from Lataif al Ma'rif and Tafseer ibn Katheer].

At that time, the hair of children will turn gray and every pregnant woman will drop her load and you will see people in a state of drunkenness, although they are not intoxicated, for the punishment of Allah is severe. ” This news greatly distressed the companions and they said, “O Messenger of Allah, who is the one man who will be saved?” The Prophet said, “ The good news is that the one thousand will be from the nations of Gog and Magog and the one will be from your nation .” Then the Prophet said, “ By the one in whose hand is my soul, I hope you will be a third of the people of Paradise .” Then we praised Allah and exalted Him, and the Prophet said, “ By the one in whose hand is my soul, I hope you will be half of the people of Paradise. Verily, your example is that of a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or a hairless spot on the leg of a donkey. ”

Best Thing given to a man
:
It was said to Ibn Mubaarak رحمه الله:
“What’s the best thing given to a man he said: “Deep intellect [that coincides with the book and the Sunnah]”
It was said: “and if he is not given that?” He said: “Good manners”
It was said: “and if he is not given that?” He said: “A righteous friend that advises him”
It was said: “and if he is not given that?” He said: “To remain silent for a long time”
It was said: “and if he is not given that?” He said: “Immediate death”
[Rawdhah Al-Uqalaa wa An-Nuzhah Al-Fudhalaa Ibn Hibbaan (no3/34)]

Khushoo, and reward of Allaah
:
`Ammaar bin Yaasir said: I heard the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ say: ❝ A man returns after praying his prayer while only a tenth part of his prayer, or a ninth part, or an eight part, or a seventh part, or a sixth part, or a fifth part, or a third part, or half of it, is recorded for him.❞
-
Abu Dawood (796) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee
-
So the reward is in proportion to one's Ikhlaas (sincerity) and alertness within the prayers.
One should also note that it is a sign of weak Faith if one constantly loses concentration in the prayers, as the hypocrites used to do
:
❝ {Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allaah, but it is He Who deceives them. And when they stand up for as-Salaah (the prayer), they stand with laziness and to be seen of men, AND THEY DO NOT REMEMBER ALLAAH BUT LITTLE.}❞
📚[Surah al-Nisaa (4): 142]
-
Making Du`aa for worldly needs while in Sujood or outside of the the Salaah is not the question. It is how much do we concentrate on our Du`aa?
We should pray as if it is our last prayer or how a drowning person would pray.
