Adhere To The Scholars & Be Cautious Of The Unknowns On Social Media

🔹Real “Hadith Disciples” Do Not Forsake the Scholars
Written by: Moosaa Richardson

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful…
Know that the people of knowledge shall indeed be forsaken by some! It is a reality that has been foretold in the hadeeth of Mu’aawiyah (may Allaah be pleased with him), as found in the two Saheeh Compilations of al-Bukhaaree and Muslim:
لَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي قَائِمَةً بِأَمْرِ اللهِ، لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمْ أَوْ خَالَفَهُمْ، حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللهِ وَهُمْ ظَاهِرُونَ عَلَى النَّاسِ
“A group of my Ummah shall continue to uphold the Order of Allaah. Those who forsake or oppose them do not harm them, until the Affair of Allaah arrives, whilst they are (still) uppermost among the people.”
These people are known as the scholars of Islam, as al-Imaam al-Bukhaaree (may Allaah have Mercy on him) said in his chapter noscript: “They are the people of knowledge.”
The statement, “…Those who forsake or oppose them do not harm them…” indicates that there will indeed be people who speak ill of the scholars and try to divert the people from them. This is from the pre-determined Qadr of Allaah, as part of the struggle between truth and falsehood that He, the All Mighty and All Wise, has decreed to be one of the many tests His Servants shall face.
The scholars of Islam actively work to provide solutions to the Ummah’s problems in every place. Allaah blesses their time and efforts, the effects of which can be found everywhere upon Earth, by His Permission. They are the best of Allaah’s Servants, His true allies, those He has paired His Divine Testimony with:
شَهِدَ اللَّهُ أَنَّهُ لا إِلهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَالْمَلائِكَةُ وَأُولُوا الْعِلْمِ
“Allaah testifies that there are none worthy of worship except Him, and the Angels [also testify], and the the people of knowledge [also testify as well].” [Quran 3:18]
With this, they are still opposed and forsaken day and night by the very people who are in dire need of them. They are slandered. They are unjustly vilified. They are described by the ignorant and deviant as unconcerned and disconnected from the Ummah. Yet, “Those who forsake or oppose them DO NOT harm them.”
A Point for Serious Reflection
True “hadith disciples” are those who uphold this hadeeth, its wording and its meanings. They are those who work to expose and warn against those who undermine the work of the scholars and attempt to disconnect the people from them.
On the other hand, fraudulent self-proclaimed “hadith disciples” can be found demonstrating the exact behavior warned against in this hadeeth, forsaking and opposing the scholars, with terrible and unjust words, which could only come from levels and layers of deep contempt for the people of knowledge. [a recent example]
Once They Replace our Scholars…
Again, that same disturbing question poses itself once again: If they are pinching us off away from the scholars of Islam, where are they taking us…?

Some say that fasting in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah is Bid’ah (innovation in religion)? – Fatwas of Ibn Baz
Q: What is the opinion of your Eminence regarding the opinion of the one who says that Sawm in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah is Bid`ah (innovation in religion)?
A: This is an ignorant person who should be taught.
The Messenger (peace be upon him)ordered that good deed should be done in them and fasting is one of the good deeds.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these ten days (i.e. The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” They asked him: “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?” He (peace be upon him) replied: “Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih Book of Hadith. [1]
Though it is not certain whether the Prophet (peace be upon him) fasted them or not, yet it should be relied on what the Prophet said because saying is much more significant than practice. When saying is accompanied by practice, this will affirm the Sunnah. The Sunnah of the Prophet are divided into saying, practice, and approving. Though each of them forms the Sunnah, the saying is the most significant and strong of them. Then, the practice comes next and then approval follows.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days.” [2] By these days the Prophet means the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. Thus, if one fasts or gives to charity during them, one will be doing a great good.
It is ordained during these days also to recite Takbir (saying: “Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest]”), Tahmid (saying: “Al-hamdu lillah [All praise is due to Allah]”), and Tahlil (saying: “La ilaha illa Allah [There is no god except Allah]”) because he (peace be upon him) said:
“There are no days that are greater before Allah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so recite a great deal of Tahlil, Takbir, and Tahmid during them.”[3]
May Allah grant us all success!

🔹At-Tirmidhi (413) narrated that Abu Hurayrah said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “The first deed for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection is his prayer. If it is sound then he will prosper and succeed, but if it is not sound, then he will fail and lose. If his obligatory prayer is lacking, the Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, will say: Look and see whether My slave has any voluntary prayers to make up for what is lacking of his obligatory prayer. Then the rest of his deeds will be examined in like manner.”

When Shaykh al-Islam Ahmad ibn ʿAbd al-Halim ibn ʿAbd al-Salam ibn Taymiyyah al-Harrani (rahimahullah) was imprisoned, he found the prisoners busy and distracting themselves (from incarceration) with different types of games like chess, backgammon, and being negligent concerning their prayers.
The Shaykh strongly disapproved of their actions and instructed them to preserve and be vigilant in their prayers, and to perform all good deeds solely for the sake of Allaah.
Likewise, he ordered them to to glorify Allāh, seek His forgiveness, and supplicate to Him. He also taught them the Sunnah, made them aspire for good deeds, and encouraged them towards it.
[He did this] up until the prison became better than many mosques, gatherings of knowledge and schools with regards to being kept busy with knowledge of the religion.
To the point that when some of the prisoners were granted their freedom, they chose to stay with him.
Likewise, numerous people returned to the prison until the prison became full of people [seeking to benefit and be in the presence of Ibn Taymiyyah].

🔅Questioner:
What is the ruling on praying in a mosque which belongs to the people of innovation and how do I pray if there is *no mosque upon the Sunnah in the city, and it is correct for me to pray with my wife in my house❓*
🔅Shaykh Rabi ibn Hadi al-Madkhali:
No. If there is a mosque then pray in it even if it is with the people of innovation.
ʿAbdullah ibn ʿUmar prayed behind an individual from the Khawarij and this (narration) was used as proof by al-Bukhari. *(Praying in) congregation is a great affair which is not to be replaced for something like this.*
As for the people of innovation, then from them are those who are hidden (in their innovation), thus if his innovation is not evident then pray behind him. However, if his innovation becomes apparent to you then explain the truth and clarify (the innovation) to him.
If his innovation is of disbelief and he is insistent upon it, then do not pray behind him after the evidence of disbelief has been established upon him – meaning he commits an innovation of disbelief (i.e calling upon other than Allaah ﷻ, slaughtering for other than Allaah ﷻ, seeking rain from other than Allāh or distorting the attributes of Allaah ﷻ).
If he commits innovations of disbelief and you have debated with him, clarified the truth to him from the speech of Allaah ﷻ, the speech of his Messenger and the speech of the Salaf, yet he is insistent (upon his innovation) and stubborn (against the truth) then do not pray behind him. As for if his innovations if they are hidden and are not innovations which take someone outside of the fold of Islaam then pray behind him.

Allah’s statement; (Allah will grant after hardship, ease.)
This is a sure promise from Him, and indeed, Allah’s promises are true and He never breaks them, This is an Allah’s saying; (Verily, along with every hardship is relief. Verily, along with every hardship is relief.) [94:5-6]
There is a relevant Hadith that we should mention here. Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Hurayrah said,
“A man and his wife from an earlier generation were poor. Once when the man came back from a journey, he went to his wife saying to her, while feeling hunger and fatigued,
Abu Hurayrah added, “By He in Whose Hand is the life of Abu Al-Qasim (Prophet Muhammad )! This is the same statement that Muhammad said, (Had she taken out what was in her mortar and not emptied it fully by shaking it, it would have continued crushing the seeds until the Day of Resurrection.)”

Do you have anything to eat’ She said, Yes, receive the good news of Allah’s provisions.’ He again said to her, If you have anything to eat, bring it to me.’ She said, Wait a little longer.’ She was awaiting Allah’s mercy. When the matter was prolonged, he said to her, Get up and bring me whatever you have to eat, because I am real hungry and fatigued.’ She said, I will. Soon I will open the oven’s cover, so do not be hasty.’ When he was busy and refrained from insisting for a while, she said to herself, `I should look in my oven.’ So she got up and looked in her oven and found it full of the meat of a lamb, and her mortar and pestle was full of seed grains; it was crushing the seeds on its own. So, she took out what was in the mortar and pestle, after shaking it to remove everything from inside, and also took the meat out that she found in the oven.”Abu Hurayrah added, “By He in Whose Hand is the life of Abu Al-Qasim (Prophet Muhammad )!
