It is reported that Khālid bin Ma'dan (رحمه الله) said:

❝Whoever seeks praise by going against the truth, Allāh will throw it back upon him as blame, and whoever faces blame in order to conform to the truth, Allāh will return it as praise for him.❞

HOW TO DEAL WITH PROVOCATIVE, ANNOYING, SARCASTIC, PATRONISING AND HARMFUL COMMENTS OF OPINIONATED AND BOSSY PERSONALITIES

Imaam As-Sadi [rahimahullaah] said:

And among the beneficial affairs is to know that the harm of the people against you- especially evil speech- does not harm you; rather it harms them, unless you preoccupy yourself by giving it importance and [thus] it dominates your emotions, then it will harm you as it harms them. Indeed, it will not harm you in anyway if you pay no attention to it.

The Wind Is Not Cursed

From Abu Hurairah that the Prophet [ﷺ] said:

«الرِّيحُ مِنْ رُوحِ اللَّهِ تَأْتِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ ، وَتَأْتِي بِالْعَذَابِ ، فَلَا تَسُبُّوهَا ، سَلُوا اللَّهَ خَيْرَهَا ، وَاسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا.»

❝The Wind is from the mercy of Allaah for His worshippers, sometimes it comes with mercy and sometimes it comes with punishment. So if you see it do not curse it, ask Allaah for the good of it and seek refuge with Allaah from its evil.❞

[Collected In Silsilah Saheehah, (No.  2756) | Kalimah Tayyibah, (Page: 135) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya Miraath al-Anbiyya]

From Ubay bin Ka’ab [رضي الله عنه] said that the Messenger of Allaah [ﷺ] said:

❝Do not curse the wind, if you see something that you dislike of the wind then say: ‘O Allaah indeed we ask of You for the good from this wind and the good which is in it and the good with which You have commanded it with. We seek refuge with You from the evil from this wind and the evil which is in it and the evil with which You have commanded it with.❞

[Collected By Tirmidhi | He Said It Is Hasan Saheeh | Albaani Authenticated It In Silsilah Saheehah, (No. 2756) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya Miraath al-Anbiyya]

From Ibn Abbas [رضي الله عنه] that a man cursed the wind in front of the Prophet [ﷺ] so the Prophet [ﷺ] said:

«لاَ تَلْعَنِ الرِّيحَ فَإِنَّهَا مَأْمُورَةٌ، وَإِنَّهُ مَنْ لَعَنَ شَيْئًا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِأَهْلٍ رَجَعَتِ اللَّعْنَةُ عَلَيْهِ»

❝Do not curse the wind since indeed it is commanded and indeed if anyone curses something which does not deserve to be cursed then that curse comes back on himself.❞

[Collected By Tirmidhi | Authenticated By Albaani In Saheehah, (No. 528) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya Miraath al-Anbiyya]

Imam ash-Shafi’aee said:

«لا ينبغي شتم الريح فإنها خلق مطيع لله وجند من جنوده يجعلها الله رحمة إذا شاء ونقمة إذا شاء.»

❝It is not befitting to curse the wind since it is a creation which obeys Allaah and a soldier from His soldiers, Allaah places it as mercy if He wills and punishment if He wills.❞

[Majmoo Sharh al-Muhdab, (5/92) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya Miraath al-Anbiyya]

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen said:
❝This negation of cursing the wind is a prohibition. This is because cursing the wind is cursing the One who created it and sent it. Rain fall is not ascribed to the winds or to the weather or the atmosphere, rather these matters of control of the wind are ascribed to Allaah Alone.❞

[Majmoo Fatawa Wa Rasail Ibn Uthaymeen, (10/276) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya Miraath al-Anbiyya].
Sometimes as human nature, we don't realise the truth or our nafs refuse to accept the truth.

The reality of faith is to believe Allah controls destiny

Much needed advice from Ibn Taymiyyah 👍

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

"Many people, when they see evil or when the Muslim ummah goes through a lot of trouble, panic, lose hope and start complaining as people who are beset by calamities do. But this is forbidden; rather what is enjoined is to be patient, to put one’s trust in Allah, to be steadfast in adhering to the religion of Islam and to believe that Allah is with those who fear Him and those who do good, and that the best end is for those who fear Him; whatever befalls him is because of his sins, so he should be patient, for the promise of Allah is true; he should seek forgiveness for his sins and glorify and praise his Lord morning and evening."

Hadith on Hypocrisy: Allah allows those who show off to be pleased with their showing off

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever desires only to be seen by people, then Allah will make him seen. Whoever desires only to be heard by people, then Allah will make him heard.” And the Prophet said, “Whoever is not merciful to people, then Allah is not merciful to him.”

From the Reasons Why Blessings from Provisions like Salaries & Food are Taken Away

by
Muhaddith, Shaykh, Allamaa’
Muhammad Nasiruddeen al-Albaani

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

Abu az-Zubayr said I heard Jabir bin Abdullaah saying that he heard the Prophet –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– saying:

‘If one of you eats and a morsel of food falls from his hand then he should wipe off what he sees from it and eat it.

He should not leave it for the Shaytaan and he should not wipe his hand with a napkin until he licks his hand, since a person does not know which part of the food that Allaah has blessed. The Shaytaan lies in wait for the people -or for a person- for everything even upon the place at which he eats or his food.

The dish should not be taken away until he licks it or has it licked, since indeed in the last part of the food there is blessings.’

[Collected by Ibn Hibban and al-Bayhaqi & Albaani graded it as Hasan in Saheehah no. 1404]

Shaykh Albaani commented on this hadeeth saying:

‘It is truly regretful to see that many of the Muslims nowadays especially those who have been affected by western habits and European traditions.

The Shaytaan has become strengthened in usurping a portion from their wealth, not with hatred but purely due to their own choice, and that is only due to their ignorance of the Sunnah or being neglectful of it. Do you not see them being separated whilst eating their food upon their dining tables and every single one of them eats by himself -without any need to- in their own plate. No one shares in that food, not even the person sitting next to him.

Likewise, if a morsel of food was to fall down from one of them, then they see themselves above picking it up, removing the dirt from it and eating it.

There is perhaps among them so-called educated ones and philosophers who do not allow this with the claim that it has become
polluted with germs and microbes striking against the heart of the hadeeth where the Messenger –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– said:

‘فليمط ما رابه منها وليطعمها ولا يدعها للشيطان “.

‘Then wipe off what attaches itself to [from dust etc] the morsel of food that is dropped and eat it and do not leave it for the Shaytaan.’

Also they do not lick their fingers rather many of them regard that as not having taste and not having eating/table manners. This is why they use napkins made of a thin drying material well known as Kleenex at their dining tables.

So you will not find except that one of them has a little smell of food on his fingers and even if there was some food on their lips except that they would hasten to wipe it with a napkin in contrast to the hadeeth.

As for licking the plate, then this means licking what is upon it from food using ones fingers, then they see that as improper and completely wrong, they attribute to the person who does this as being miserly or greedy for food, this is not surprising about those who did not hear of this hadeeth so they are ignorant of it.

Indeed what is surprising is those who follow them and flatter them, and they [the non-Muslims] know about those who do this.

Then you find all of them have agreed upon complaining about the decrease of blessings from their salaries and their provisions no matter how large they were, they do not know that the reason for this is indeed them turning away from following the Sunnah of their Prophet and blindly following the enemies of their religion in how they live their lives and their livelihoods.

O Muslims hold on to the Sunnah, the Sunnah.

<<O you who believe! Ans
wer Allaah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he calls you to that which will give you life, and know that Allaah comes in between a person and his heart (i.e. He prevents an evil person to decide anything). And verily to Him you shall (all) be gathered.>>

 [Silsilah Saheehah no. 1404]

In another wording:

Abu az-Zubayr said I heard Jabir saying that the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– said:

“ إذا أكل أحدكم الطعام فلا يمسح يده حتى يلعقها أو يلعقها و لا يرفع صحفة حتى  يلعقها أو يلعقها , فإن آخر الطعام فيه بركة “ .

‘If one of you eats food then he should not wipe his hand until he licks his hand, or has it licked, the dish should not be taken away until he licks it or has it licked, since indeed in the last part of the food there is blessings.’

[Collected by Nisa’ee and Albaani graded it Saheeh in Saheehah no. 391]

Shaykh Albaani commented on this hadeeth saying:

‘In this hadeeth is a beautiful behaviour from the obligatory manners of eating food, which is licking the fingers and wiping the dish clean with the fingers.

Many of the Muslims nowadays are free of this behaviour, due to being affected by the practises of the European non-Muslims, and their behaviour which is established on reliance upon materialism and not acknowledgement of its creator and being grateful to Him for His blessings.
So I Muslim needs to be cautious of blindly following them in this so he ends up being from them due to the saying of the Messenger –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam:

“و من تشبه بقوم فهو منهم “ .

‘…Whoever resembles a people is from them.’

Indeed I said: ‘… obligatory…’ due to the command of the Messenger–sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– with that and his prohibition of not having done it.

So be a believer and fulfill the Prophet’s command –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– and prohibit that which he prohibited from and do not give any consideration to those who mock, those who block the path of Allaah knowingly or unknowingly.’

[Silsilah Saheehah no. 391]

All Praise belongs to Allaah, may His peace and blessings be upon our final Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions and all those who follow his guidance. Aameen.

Thinking that the awliyah brings us close to Allah is shirk asghar or akbar? Question:
I would like to ask what is the situation of a person who is upon Sufism and believes that an Awliyah brings him near to Allah however he doesn't direct his dua or worship directly to this dead person or believes that dead answers the dua but he calls upon Allah. At the same time he thinks that this love he has for that person will cause Allah's mercy forgiveness and love for him so in some times of difficulty goes to his grave calls upon only Allah thinking that comes closer to Him because of the dead. This person prays keeps fasting and the pillars of faith. Is that minor or major shirk because I have found disagreements between the students of knowledge. May Allah reward you with goodness.

Shaikh Adel As-Sayyed:
This is Shirk Asghar (Lesser Shirk) and of course this is forbidden. Yes, we love the awliya of Allah- the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his companions, his wives- and this is worship which makes us close to Allah but only within the boundaries Allah has placed upon this worship.

_Zaynab El-Kateb's note:
We are never to go to their graves because there is a prohibition to pray near the graves. The people of Nuh used to supplicate to Allah near the graves of the pious people (Ya'ooth, Yagooth, Nasra) then step by step the Shaytaan made them fall into shirk. Soon after they stopped supplicating to Allah and started supplicating to the people of the graves. So this is a dangerous affair, we must keep away from the paths of shirk so keep away from supplicating/praying near graves.
Regarding the differences in opinions of the scholars: There is no difference of opinions because the Scholars say lesser Shirk is the act which leads to greater shirk. They all agree that supplicating near a grave is strictly prohibited.

Allaah has made patience like a horse that never gets tired, an army that can never be defeated and a strong fortress that can never be breached. Patience and victory are twin brothers, for victory comes with patience, relief comes with distress and ease comes with hardship. Patience is of more help to the one who has it than men, as it helps without any need for equipment or numbers and its relationship to victory is like that of the head to the body.

In the Qur’aan, Allaah has guaranteed those who are patient that He will give them reward without measure.

He tells them that He is with them by guiding and supporting them and granting them a clear victory. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Surely, Allaah is with those who are As‑Saabiroon (the patient)”

[al-Anfaal 8:46]
Narrated Uqba bin Amr:

The Prophet (ﷺ) once came out and offered the funeral prayer for the martyrs of Uhud, and proceeded to the pulpit and said,

"I shall be your predecessor and a witness on you, and I am really looking at my sacred Fount now, and no doubt, I have been given the keys of the treasures of the world. By Allah, I am not afraid that you will worship others along with Allah, but I am afraid that you will envy and fight one another for worldly fortunes."
