Attempting to Safeguard Oneself from Showing Off (Ar-Riyaa) - Al-Uthaymīn
There are those who abandon acts of obedience [due to] fear of riyaa [i.e. showing off in acts of worship].
This [occurs] because Shaytān plays about with a person and beautifies for him [or her] the abandonment of acts of obedience out of fearing riyaa; rather you should perform acts of obedience, but there should not be -in your heart- [a desire] to show off.

Here is a sample of what I found. Beautiful reminder and writing. Alhamdulillah.
“The difference between sincere advising and shaming” by Ibn Rajab
“And from this is that one would tell a man something that he disliked to his face, and if that was with the purpose of sincerely advising him, then that is good. And one of the Salaf said to his brother, “Do not advise me until you can say something to my face which I dislike.”
Then if one of his brothers informs him of a short-coming in order for him to avoid it, then that is good for the one who was informed of one of his short-comings so that he can be wary of it, if it served as a warning for him. And if that [advising] was with the purpose of rebuking him for his sin, then that is distasteful and blameworthy.
And it was said to one of the salaf, “Would you like for someone to inform you of your short-comings?” So he replied, “If he wanted to reprimand me, then no.”
So reprimanding and shaming for sins is blameworthy. And the Prophet (ﷺ) prohibited one to blame a slave-woman who commits zinaa (illegal sexual intercourse) with simultaneously commanding him to whip her. So she would be lashed according to the hadd (prescribed punishment) and not shamed for the sin nor reprimanded for it. [see al-Bukhari #2152 and Muslim #1703]”

📵THE CALAMITIES OF THE SMARTPHONES IN THE MASAAJID📵
By Shaikh Abdur-Razzaq al-Badr حفظه الله
🎓The Shaykh حفظه الله said:
Actions or statements should not be done in the Masaajid except for that which the Masjid was built for. The Masaajid were built for Prayer, Quran, for the remembrance of Allah, gratitude, praising Allah, knowledge, studying, and obtaining understanding. As for speech about the worldly life, relaxation through jokes and amusement, or with the great calamity which has emerged in this time: smart phone devices; [then], in them are the calamities of the world.
You find some people in the Masaajid [using cellphones], and some are in ‘Itikaaf. Which type of ‘Itikaaf is this? Some are in ‘Itikaaf, but in reality they are in a state of ‘Itikaaf on their cellphone. He is not in ‘Itikaaf for his Lord and for the remembrance of his Lord. He is only in ‘Itikaaf on his cellphone...
❗️Even some of them, as soon as they make the second Tasleem, put their hand in their pocket and pull out their device. This indicates that even in his obligatory prayer, he is preoccupied with what is on his device. As if his prayer obstructed him and he completes it in order to return to his device so as to continue with the amusement which he was preoccupied with...
❗️From the painful, saddening, and unfortunate affairs is the music which has increased and is heard in the Masaajid. Who would believe twenty years ago that music would be heard in the Masaajid today. At the time time for Prayer, not a Ruku’ or Sujood or any position from the positions of the prayer passes except you hear music. A great calamity.
Therefore, it is necessary upon a person as soon as he enters the door of the Masjid to know the sanctity of the house of Allah, the rights of the congregants, and know the sanctity of the place which he entered. So when he enters the door of the Masjid, it is necessary that he turn his cellphone to silent or turn it off altogether. If he leaves it outside the Masjid [i.e. somewhere else], then that is more deserving. So he enters the Masjid to pray, to remember Allah, and not preoccupy himself and the congregants with these sounds and distractions. ...All of these are calamities which have entered upon us in the Masaajid and which the people are afflicted with. It disrupts the worship and affects the people. It is not allowed in the Masjid to raise your voice over the voice of your brother when reciting the Quran in order to not mix up his recitation [See: Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 1332] . So how about these calamities nowadays which have been brought to the Masaajid and have brought calamities and great evil?
We ask Allah to rectify us all. Aameen!

--- Dua is a kind of compensation ---
The sincere people do not ask from the one who they do good to any praise or even Dua’a. Because Dua’a is a kind of compensation and favour.
Evidence that shows Dua’a is a kind of compensation.
The narration quoted by the Prophet (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), “ Whoever does good deeds by you, then compensate him. If you do not find anything to give him in compensation, then supplicate for him until you think that you have compensated him. [Abu Dawood and An-Nasa’i]
So when they are compensated with Dua’a, they return it with Dua’a like it, in order to get the full reward from Allah.
Narrated by Aisha (Radia Allaahu ‘anha), “The meat of a sheep was given as a gift to the Prophet (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam). He said, “Distribute it”. When the servant came back, Aisha asked him, “What did they say to you?” He replied, “They said BaarakAllahu feekum.” Aisha answered “Wafeehum BaraakAllah (And may Allah bless them too).
We reply to them, what they say to us, so the full reward will be remained for us. [An-Nasa’I and authenticated by al-Albani].
Out of complete sincerity of Aisha (Radia Allaahu ‘anha), she was not waiting for anything in return, not even their Dua’a.
This is affirmed in Allah’s Book in Surat al-Insan 76:8-9:
وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لا نُرِيدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلا شُكُورًا
And they give good in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan and the captive.
(Saying): “We feed you only for the Countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude”.

During the Last Days Sudden Death will Increase An important reminder from Shaykh Salih al fawzaan حفظه الله
Shaykh Fawzan: Pay attention to this. During the last days sudden death will increase.
You are healthy, strong, and youthful, and then you die suddenly; either in a car accident, or by heart failure, or by any unexpected reason. And how often does this occur! And you witness this and hear about this.
Thus it is upon us to increase in repentance and seeking forgiveness. And we must not forget about the abode of the hereafter. We must not forget about death. We must not forget about the reckoning. Then on the Day of Judgment there will be scales; scales to weigh the deeds and actions.
Then, those whose scales are heavy (with good deeds), - these, they are the successful.
And those whose scales are light (their sins outweigh their good deeds), they are those who lose their souls, in the Hell-fire will they abide.1
They are those who lose their souls (or themselves). They didn’t lose their wealth, rather they lost their souls.
Their recompense will be the Hell-fire. Will they remain in the Hell-fire for one day, two days? No. They will remain there forever. They will remain there for eternity.
There is no Might or Power except with Allah.
Translated by Rasheed ibn Estes Barbee.

What a beautiful, simple formula to calculate one’s future with! Match yourself against the Quran and the Sunnah to know who you are, and look what you have set aside for ALLAAHتعالى. To know what ALLAAH, THE MIGHTY AND MAJESTIC HAS PREPARED for you.
‘O you who believe! Fear ALLAAH and let each soul see what it has sent forward for the morrow and fear ALLAAH.’ [Surah Hashr: 18]

A sinner will not criticize himself.” He also said: “A believer is guardian over himself; he takes account of himself for ALLAAH. THE FIVE SONS OF IBLEES !!!
Mujahid (Rahimahullah) said:
Iblees has five sons, he appointed each of them on one of his affairs. Their names are:
1. Thabr
2. Al-A'war
3. Musawwat
4. Dasim
5. Zulunbur
• As for Thabr, he is responsible for calamities. He orders people to rip their clothes, slap their cheeks and make the call of ignorance when stricken by calamity.
• Al-A'war is responsible for fornication. He beautifies it and orders others to commit it.
• As for Musawwat, he is responsible for lies. He hears the news and transfers it to someone else, who in turn, goes to a gathering of people and tells them: I met a person whose face I know but I do not know his name. He told me such and such.
• Dasim shows a wife’s faults to her husband and makes him angry with them.
• And Zulunbur is responsible for the market place. He sticks his flag therein.

[Ibn Abi al-Dunya in Maka'd al-Shaytan, 54/35]
Dua for protection when going out.
Allaahumma 'innee 'a'oothu bika 'an 'adhilla, 'aw 'udhalla, 'aw 'azilla, 'aw 'uzalla, 'aw 'adhlima, 'aw 'udhlama, 'aw 'ajhala 'aw yujhala 'alayya.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest i misguide others, or I am misguided by others, lest I cause others to err or I am caused to err, lest I abuse others or be abused, and lest I behave foolishly or meet with the foolishness others.
Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, An-Nasa'i, At-Tirmidhi. See also Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmidhi 3/152 and Sahih Ibn Majah 2/336.

When the Fitnah of Wealth, Woman, and Fame gets combined together:
Usaamah Ibn Zaid reported that Allaah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:
❝After me, I have not left any trial more severe to men than women.❞

الحمد لله الذي عافانا مما ابتلاهم به ، وفضّلنا على كثير ممن خلق تفضيلا
“All praise is for Allaah Who saved us from that which He tested them with, and Who most certainly favored us over much of His creation”

eed al-Khudree reported that Allaah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:
❝The world is sweet and green (alluring), and verily Allaah makes you generations succeeding one another so that He may try you in respect to your actions. So avoid the allurement of the world and those of women. Verily, the first trial for the Banee Israa’eel was through women.❞

A man once came to Al-Hasan al-Basri and complained to him:
“The sky does not shower us with rain.” He replied: “Seek Allah’s forgiveness (i.e. say ﺃﺳﺘﻐﻔﺮ ﺃﻟﻠﻪ ).”
Then another person came to him and said,
“I complain of poverty.”
He replied:
“Seek Allah’s forgiveness.”
Then another person came to him and complained,
“My wife is barren; she cannot bear children.
” He replied:
“Seek Allah’s forgiveness.”
The people who were present, said to al-Hasan: “Everytime a person came to you complaining, you instructed them to Only to seek Allah’s forgiveness?”
Al-Hasan al-Basri said, “Have you not read the statement of Allah?
“Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Truly He is Oft-Forgiving. He will send rain to you in abundance; increase you in wealth and children; grant you gardens and bestow on you rivers.”‘” [Nuh (71):10-12]
There are two things in the earth that give a person safety and security from the punishment of Allah.
The first has been removed, whilst the second still remains.
As for the first, it was the Messenger of Allah ( ﺻﻠﻲ ﺃﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭ ﺳﻠﻢ ).“Allah would not punish them while you were among them.” [al-Anfal (8):33]
As for the second, it is istighfar. “Allah would not punish them as long as they sought forgiveness.” [al-Anfal (8):33] ﺃﺳﺘﻐﻔﺮ ﺃﻟﻠﻪ …
Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, “If anyone continually asks forgiveness, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, relief from anxiety, and will provide for him from where he never realized.”
