The truly fortunate

Shaykh-ul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allāh have mercy upon him, mentions in his Majmū’:

“The (truly) fortunate one (is he who) seeks forgiveness for the mistakes, and is patient upon the calamities, just as Allāh says:

{So be patient. Verily, the Promise of Allāh is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault}
[Sūrah Ghāfir 40:55].”

[Majmū’ Al-Fatāwā 8/454]

Are we in the worst time?

Abu Hazim al-Ashja’i [رحمه الله] said:

“If you find yourself in a time when speech is accepted as knowledge and knowledge is accepted as deeds [instead of putting it into practice], then you are in the worst time and with the worst people.”

🔨 HOW TO OVERPOWER ONE'S OWN SOUL TO DO GOOD

Shaykh ʿAlī ibn Yaḥyá al-Ḥaddādī said:

[The question] says: “How can I fight my [own] soul in [making myself] love acts of obedience, seeking knowledge, learning knowledge, and praying in congregation?”

📨 How do you fight against your soul…. This means you compel it. Compel your soul. Your soul says, “No, don’t attend the lesson.” Tell it: “Rather, I will attend the lesson.” Start your car and head off to the lesson.

This is the solution.

You hear the call [to the prayer] while your soul is feeling sluggish, loving sleep. Tell it: “No, there’s no [more] sleep; there’s prayer.” Get up, perform ablution, and walk to the mosque.

Once, twice, three times, it’s over. [Your soul] will become compliant. Your soul will become compliant and give in to you.

But if you pamper it—every time it tells you, “Don’t do it,” you say, “Hearing and obeying”—it will overpower you. You will not be able to direct it.

So then the issue, after Allāh gives one true success and [one] puts [his] trust in Allāh, is one of your overpowering your soul and compelling it, and it will become compliant for you after one, two or three times, if Allāh wills.

Give good news and do not push people away

On the authority of Abu Musa who said
❝When the Messenger [ﷺ] would send one of his companions for something he would say: ‘Give good news and do not push people away. Make things easy and do not make things difficult.’❞

رسائل الجوالات ومحاذيرها

🖋 _By Ash-Shaikh Dr. Saalih Al-Fawzaan_ {حفظه الله}

All praise is due to Allaah, and may prayers of blessing and peace be upon our Prophet, Muhammad, and whoever supports him and follows his guidance.

*To proceed:*

Indeed the question has increased regarding what has been reported in cellphone messages (i.e. text messages) of admonitions that contain various types of Thikr (words of remembrance of Allaah) done in different methods, and in a number of specific ways, and at specified times. These messages also contain an encouragement to others to read them, and distribute them among friends and companions. The messages also mention that they should be distributed to such-and-such number of people from one’s companions, and whoever does so will attain an abundance of great rewards and goodness in this life and the hereafter, and whoever does not distribute them will have a tremendous sin upon him, and punishment in this life and the hereafter. So from this there has spread a superstitious dream of the Shaikh Ahmad, the carrier of the keys to the room of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

And in facing this it is obligatory that we alert the people that receiving these messages, and acting according to them, and distributing them, and circulating them; all of that is from the matter of spreading falsehood, and distributing superstitions, and cooperating with the people of superstitions and the liars. Therefore, it is incumbent upon everyone who these messages reach to reject them ( i.e. recognize them as lies) and warn against them, and warn against their writers – those who are behind them. For verily they are enemies of the Sunnah, and enemies of the Ummah (the Muslim nation). And though they may hide behind the cellphones, they are never hidden from Allaah, the Most High.

► PRESERVE YOUR SALAH, TONGUE AND HEART | AN ADVICE FROM THE MESSENGER (صلى الله عليه و سلم):

A man came to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and said:

❝Admonish me and be brief.❞;

so the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said to him:

إِذَا قُمْتَ فِي صَلَاتِكَ فَصَلِّ صَلَاةَ مُوَدِّعٍ

❝When you stand for your prayer, then pray a farewell prayer (i.e. as if it is your last Salah before death).❞

وَلَا تَكَلَّمْ بِكَلَامٍ تَعْتَذِرُ مِنْهُ غَدًا

The Noor [Light] Of La ilaha ila Allaah

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim [رحمه الله] said :
❝Know that the rays and beams of La ilaha ila Allaah [none is worthy of worship except Allaah] disperse the fog and cloudiness of sins, which is relative to the strength and weakness of those rays and beams.

So the statement of La ilaha ila Allaah has Noor [light]. The people of La ilaha ila Allaah vary immensely in this light - in respect to strength and weakness - of which only Allaah [تعالى] knows the extent of this immense variance.

• So there are people whose light in their hearts of this statement is like the sun.

• From them whose light of this statement in their hearts is like a bright shiny star.

• From them whose light of this statement in their hearts is like a great burning torch.

• Another one is like a illuminated lamp

• Another one is like a weak lamp.

This is why on the Day of Judgement lights will appear from the people on their rightsides and in front of them in these quantities.

This is according to what they have in their hearts of the light of this statement in respect to knowledge and action, perception of La ilaha ila Allaah and the condition of the people.❞

Among the Causes of the Transgression of the Jinns were that Humans sought Refuge with Them - Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded from Ikrimah that he said,

“The Jinns used to fear humans just like humans fear them, or even worse. So whenever humans would come to a valley the Jinns would flee. So the leader of the people would say,
We seek refuge with the leader of the inhabitants of this valley.’ So the Jinns said, `We see these people fleeing from us just like we flee from them.’ Thus, the Jinns started coming near the humans and afflicting them with insanity and madness.”

Advice On Dealing with Anger

Among the benefits of this advice given by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) is the fact that it prevents the angry person from going out of control, because he could strike out and injure someone, or even kill - as we will find out shortly - or he could destroy possessions and so on.

The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "The strong man is not the one who can overpower others (in wrestling); rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself when he gets angry."
