🤲🏼 *Supplications That Protect The Believer Against All Forms of Harm* - _A Weapon Against The Recent Bout of Hate Crimes Against Muslims_

🖊 by _Abu Ismaʿeel Mustafa George DeBerry_ حفظه الله

📝 Our brother Abū Ismaʿīl Muṣṭafá George has compiled an extremely beneficial article, composing of eleven powerful and effective supplications that will serve to be very practical and useful in equipping the believer with a formidable weapon in their arsenal against all manner or harms against them. We emphatically encourage all the believers to commit to memory these magnificent supplications as a means of fortifying oneself and solidifying one's relationship with their creator.

📎 *E͟͟x͟͟c͟͟e͟͟r͟͟p͟͟t͟͟*
In light of the recent appearance of hate crimes against Muslims in various countries, we felt the need to remind our Muslim brothers and sisters of the importance of protecting themselves by way of a number of daily supplications, which were taught to us by our beloved Messenger Muḥammad ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam. The purpose of this document is not to list all the supplications which a Muslim should regularly mention throughout the day, rather, it is a reminder that our beloved Messenger ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam has given his followers a means by which they can protect themselves from all forms of harm. Hence, it is critical that our brothers and sisters memorize these supplications, and teach them to their families in order to:

1⃣ Remind them of tawḥīd and its importance in the life of the Muslim;
2⃣ Strengthen their relationship with their Lord and allow them to gain greater consciousness of Him;
3⃣ Promote adherence to the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muḥammad ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam and increase their knowledge of His teachings;
4⃣ Provide them with the greatest form of protection possible, which is the fortification provided by the Lord of the world!

•• *The Three Aameens* ••

Kaab Ibn Ujrah (رضي الله عنه) relates that Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said 'Come near to the mimbar' and we came near the mimbar.

When he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) climbed the first step of the mimbar, he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said “Aameen”,

When he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) ascended the second step, he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said “Aameen”,

When he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) climbed the third step, he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said “Aameen”

When he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) came down, We said “O Rasool of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وسلم), we have heard from you today something which we never heard before” he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said

"When I climbed the first step, the angel Jibraeel (عليه السلام) appeared before me and said:

*“Destruction to him who found the blessed month of Ramdhan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness”*

upon that I said *‘Aameen’*. When I climbed the second step, he said,

“Destruction to him before whom thy name is taken and then he does not make Dua for Allah’s blessing on me (by saying, for example , Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam).”

I replied ‘Aameen’. When I climbed the third step, he said

“Destruction unto him in whose lifetime his parents or either one of them reaches old age, and (through failure to serve them) he is not allowed to enter Jannah”.

I said ‘Aameen’.

*IT IS NOT PERMISSIBLE TO HANG QUR'ANIC AYAHS ON WALLS, FURNITURE, TAPESTRIES OR TO BUY AND SELL THEM.*

The Qur’an has not been revealed to be hung on walls as decoration, or to be used as amulets and periapts in homes, stores, etc. For protection from fire, theft and similar mistaken beliefs held by some common people, especially those who follow Bid‘ahs (innovations in religion), and they are many now.

Thus, if a person uses the Qur’an for the purposes it was revealed for, then they are acting on clear evidence from their Lord, following guidance, and have insight. On the other hand, if a person writes Ayahs on tapestries, for example, to be used as wall decorations or amulets to protect the household, the furniture, or any other belongings, then they have used the Qur’an, its Ayahs, or Surahs in a wrong way and have deviated from the Straight Path.

Moreover, they have introduced into the religion acts that were not permitted by either Allah or His Messenger (peace be upon him), in his words or actions. This was not practiced by the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, the rest of the Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet - may Allah be pleased with them), or the Imams of guidance during the first three Muslim generations, which the Prophet (peace be upon him) described as the best of all generations.

Furthermore, the owners of such tapestries may subject the Ayahs or Surahs to humiliation, for example, if they move to another house and pile them among other furniture, or throw them away if they become worn out. All of this is not permissible. Muslims must preserve the Qur’an and its Ayahs, safeguard its sanctity, and do not subject it to any possible desecration.

Remember the advice of the Prophet ﷺ to Ibn Abbaas?

❝And know that if the nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, they would not benefit you except with what Allaah had already prescribed for you. And if they were to gather together to harm you with anything, they would not harm you except with what Allaah had already prescribed against you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.❞ [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2516) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Now remember this:

1 ) We have social media to make our voices heard, yet no one to hear the screams and cries of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Palestine, Burma, Kashmir and other places. (May Allaah forgive their dead, have mercy on the living, heal their sick and injured, and provide for them protection and shelter).

2 ) We have social media, yet we can't make a change.

3 ) We have social media only to fight among ourselves.

4 ) Instead of calling towards Allaah and His Messenger, our calls revolves around ourselves. Diverting people from Tawheed and Sunnah to politics, Bidaat (religious innovations), Hizbiyyah (partisanship).

5 ) Our leaders reflect our inner selves. As Ibn al-Qayyim had mentioned, We get the leaders which we deserve. Were we righteous, our leaders would have been righteous!

6 ) We are over a billion people, yet we are in a pathetic state. As the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝The People will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their food.❞ Someone asked: “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?” He ﷺ replied: ❝No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth and scum like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allaah will take the fear of you from the breasts (hearts) of your enemy and cast al-Wahn into your hearts.❞ Someone asked: “O Messenger of Allaah, what is al-Wahn?” He ﷺ replied: ❝Love of the world and dislike of death.❞ [Sunan Abu Dawood (4297) and graded as "Saheeh" by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

7 ) Our victory is in returning to Allaah in repentance and obedience, and holding fast to the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ:

وَلَا تَهِنُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَنتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

{So do not become weak (against your enemy), nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) IF YOU ARE INDEED (TRUE) BELIEVERS.} [Surah aal-`Imraan (3): 139]
Shaikh Badr al-Utaybee:

❝O Salafee!

If you (really) are a Salafee, then (know) that Salafiyyah is not just limited to refuting a Mubtadi (religious innovator). It is not just limited to Jarh wa Tadeel (criticizing and praising). It is not limited to giving a frowning face, speaking a lot, and insulting the Ahl al-Bidah (religious innovators).

Salafiyyah is also about establishing the night prayers.

Salafiyyah is about taking care of your Salaah (prayers), and racing towards the first rows.

Salafiyyah is about having Khashyah (having fear of Allaah upon knowledge).

Salafiyyah is about shedding tears, having Khauf (fear), weeping, and Wajl (trembling out of fear) of Allaah (and His punishment).

Salafiyyah is about showing mercy on the young ones (the children), honoring the guests, hospitality and generosity.

Salafiyyah is about clemency (kindness, gentleness), being patient (and forbearing).

Salafiyyah is about being kind to your parents, and maintaining ties of kinship.

Salafiyyah is like Imaan. The way Imaan has some seventy branches, the highest of which is saying: “Laa ilaaha illallaah”, and the least of which is removing the harmful object from the road; the same is with Salafiyyah, the highest of which is Tawheed, Sunnah, `Aqeedah, being firm upon Islaam, and the least of which is etiquette, even if it is basic manners, like removing the harmful object from the path, helping the needy, helping the one stricken with grief, honoring the guest, helping a friend. This is what true Salafiyyah is!

So be a Salafee upon what the Salaf (the pious predecessors) were upon - outwardly and inwardly, like how the author رحمه الله تعالى had mentioned.

This is what true Salafiyyah is.❞
The excellence of night prayer:

Numerous Prophetic narrations and Quranic verses mention the excellence of night prayer and the merit of those who perform it regularly. Allah The Almighty, Says (what means): "O you who wraps himself [in clothing], arise [to pray] the night, except for a little – half of it – or subtract from it a littleor add to it, and recite the Quran with measured recitation."

[Quran 73: 1-4]

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Allah, Our Lord, descends (in a manner befitting His Majesty) to the nearest heaven to us of this universe during the last third of the night and says: ‘Is there anyone to call upon Me so that I shall respond to him (fulfill his prayer). Is there anyone to ask of Me that I may grant his request. Is there anyone to seek My forgiveness so that I shall pardon him (and forgive his sins)’.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
From the Plots of Shaytaan is to make Mankind Excessive & Wasteful in all Matters

Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah (d.728) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘The Shaytaan wants mankind to be excessive and wasteful in all his matters. Indeed, if the Shaytaan sees him inclining towards mercy excessively, then the Shaytaan beautifies mercy from so much so that the human does not hate that which Allaah hates, nor is he protective over that which Allaah is protective.

And if the Shaytaan sees him inclining to harshness for him for other than Allaah’s sake, so much so that he leaves off being good, piety, gentleness, keeping good relations and mercy which Allaah and His Messenger have ordered, then the human transcends in his harshness, so he increases in criticism, hate and the infliction of punishment to the degree at that which Allaah and His Messenger do not love. So this person leaves that which Allaah commands, of mercy and being good and he is rebuked for this and is sinful in this.

He is excessive and wasteful in regard to harshness more so than that which Allaah and His Messenger have ordered, so much so that he transcends the boundaries, and that is excessiveness in Allaah’s commands, so the first is sinful and the second is excessive and wasteful, and Allaah does not love the wasteful ones.’

Narrated ‘Abdullāh bin ‘Umar (radhīAllāhu 'anhu):

Sad bin 'Ubada became sick and the Prophet (ﷺ) along with 'Abdur Rahmān bin 'Auf, Sa’d bin Abī Waqqās and 'Abdullāh bin Ma'sud visited him to inquire about his health.

When he came to him, he found him surrounded by his household and he asked, “Has he died?” They said, “No, O Allāh’s Apostle.” The Prophet (ﷺ) wept and when the people saw the weeping of Allāh’s Apostle (ﷺ) they all wept. He said, “Will you listen? Allāh does not punish for shedding tears, nor for the grief of the heart but he punishes or bestows His Mercy because of this.”

He pointed to his tongue and added, “The deceased is punished for the wailing of his relatives over him.” 'Umar used to beat with a stick and throw stones and put dust over the faces (of those who used to wail over the dead).

[Sahīh Bukhārī Vol. 2, Hadīth no. 391. Translated by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khān]
Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab also said, “I am afraid that I may do wrong and no one will stop me out of fear of me.” [Al-Baladhooree, p 231]

Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab said, “The dearest of people to me is the one who points out my mistakes to me. ” [Al-Baladhooree, p 231]
