While discussing the importance of reciting the Qur'an with tarteel (slow and measured recitation) in his manual of the Qur'anic sciences, al-Suyooti brings the following quote from imam al-Nawawi:

[وقراءة جزء بترتيل أفضل من قراءة جزئين في قدر ذلك الزمان بلا ترتيل]

"Reciting one juz' with tarteel is better than reciting two juz' in the same amount of time without tarteel."

Imam al-Qurtubi mentioned the following narration in part of the introduction to his tafsir:

[وقال إياس بن معاوية : مثل الذين يقرءون القرآن وهم لا يعلمون تفسيره ، كمثل قوم جاءهم كتاب من ملكهم ليلا وليس عندهم مصباح ، فتداخلتهم روعة ولا يدرون ما في الكتاب ; ومثل الذي يعرف التفسير كمثل رجل جاءهم بمصباح فقرءوا ما في الكتاب . ]

Iyaas ibn Mu'aawiyah said: Those who recite the Qur'an without knowing its explanation are a like a people who receive a letter from their king during the night but do not have any lamp. Apprehension comes over them, for they do not know what the letter contains. But the person who knows the explanation is like a man who bring them a lamp so that they can read what is in the letter.

[Tafsir al-Qurtubi 1/41]
Anas Ibn Malik [RA] reported that Allah's Messenger ﷺ said:

"The devil puts his nose and mouth on the heart of the child of Adam. When he mentions Allah, the devil retreats. If he forgets Allah the devil swallows his heart."

🚪 IF ALLĀH OPENED THE DOOR FOR YOU:

_Imām Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allāh have mercy on him) wrote:_

🚪 _If Allāh opens for you the door of standing in the night prayer (Qiyām al-Layl) then do not look at those who are sleeping with a look of disdain._

_And if Allāh opens for you the door of fasting then do not look at those who eat (don’t fast) with a look of disdain._

🚪 _And if Allāh opens for you the door of Jihād then do not look at those who sit behind with a look of disdain._

_Perhaps the one who sleeps and eats and sits behind is closer to Allāh than you._

🚪 _Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullāh ) went on to say:_

_“And indeed spending the night sleeping and waking up with regret is *BETTER* than spending the night standing (in Qiyām al-Layl) and waking up admiring oneself (out of arrogance), for indeed the one who admires himself (out of arrogance) will not have his actions risen (they will not benefit him).”_

The honesty of Ibn Sireen, a repost

Imaam Adh-Dhahabee (RahimahuLLAAH) narrated : "One of the prison guards said to Muhammad Ibn Sireen (when he, rahimahuLLAAH, was imprisoned): ' When the night comes, visit your family(secretly), and when you wake up, then return (to the prison).'

He (Ibn Sireen, rahimahuLLAAH ) said: " By Allaah, I will not aid you in deceiving the ruler." (Siyar A'laam An-Nubulaa, volume 4)
The Door Of Tawbah Is Open

Prophet Muḥammad Ṣallallāhu-ʿAlaihi Wa Sallam said:

فتح الله بابا للتوبة من المغرب عرضه مسيرة سبعين عاما لا يغلق حتى تطلع الشمس من نحوه

“Allāh has opened a door of repentance from West; the width of it being a distance of SEVENTY YEARS, it would NOT close UNTIL the (day) sun will rise from its direction (i.e West).”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

» “If anyone prays at night reciting regularly 10 verses, he will not be recorded among the negligent;

» If anyone prays at night and recites a 100 verses, he will be recorded among those who are obedient to Allah; and

» If anyone prays at night reciting one 1000 verses, he will be recorded among those who receive huge rewards.” [Abi Dawud 1398]
Uthman Ibn Abi al-Ās said...

The devil comes between me and my prayers and recitation, confusing me therein. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

"That is a devil called khinzah. If he affects you, then seek refuge in Allah from him and (dry) spittle to your left three times."

He (the companion) said:

"I did that and Allah took him away from me."

WORDS OF WISDOM

"Whoever keeps himself busy seeking Allah instead of himself, Allah will save him from himself, and whoever keeps himself busy with Allah more than people, Allah will save him from people. Whoever keeps himself busy with himself rather than Allah, Allah will leave him to himself, and whoever busies himself with people rather than Allah, Allah will leave him to the people."

[Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Fawaa’id pg.174]
It was said to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal رحمه الله, "May Allah reward you for the good you have done for Islam." He said,

"Rather, Allah has done good for me through Islam. Who am I, and what am I?"

#Taddabur

Ibn Hubayrah:

“From devil's trick is to turn people away from Tadabbur (pondering on) Qur’ān for he knows guidance comes from Tadabbur.”

Ibn al-Mubaarak:

❝If it was not for the chain of narration, everyone would say what they wanted to say.❞

Mixing σr Withdrawing fσr Gain

It is repσrted that Wahb b. Munabbih lُ[رَحِمَهُ اْلَّله]l used to say:

The believer mixes with σthers in σrder tσ learn, keeps quiet tσ keep safe (frσm sinning), speaks in σrder tσ understand, and secludes himself tσ the attainment (σf gσσd).

Ibn Abī Al-Dunyā, Al-‘Uzlah article 99.
Allah said in a Hadith Qudsi,

“O son of Adam, Sell this life for me (in my devotion) and I will grant you the best in this world and invest the best for you in the Akhirah.”

WHEN AN ISLAMIC SCHOLAR DIES WE SHOULD WEEP...

Abdullāh Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al-‘Ās said: I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying:

“Allah does not take away the knowledge by taking it away from the hearts of the people, but He takes it away by the death of the Scholars till no Scholar remains. Then people will take as their leaders the ignoramuses who when asked will give their verdict (fatwa) without knowledge. So they will go astray themselves and will lead the people astray.”

(Reported by Al-Bukhārī, no. 100)

In a wording, he said, “There will remain the ignoramuses from whom verdicts (fatwas) will be sought. They will give verdicts based upon their own opinions, so they will go astray and will lead the people astray.”

(Al-Bukhāri no. 7307)
"Allaah marvels about the despair of His creatures while the changing of their situation from bad to good is very near, He looks at you, and you are very desperate, so He laughs, because He knows that your relief is very close."

●Narrated by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal {vol. 4/12} and Ibn Majah {no.# 181} and authenticated by Shaykh. Al-Albani in As-Sahih, {no.# 28109}
The Messenger of Allāh صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said:
اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلاَلِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
“O' Allāh, suffice me with Your lawful against Your prohibited, and make me independent of all those besides You.”
Saheeh al-Jāmi' ٢٦٢٥ |Shaykh al-Albāni
Hasan

Some persons from the Ansar asked for (something) from the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alaih wa sallam) and he gave them. They again asked him for (something), and he gave them. Then he said: 'whatever of good that I have, I would never hoard it from any of you. (Remember) whoever abstains from asking others, Allah will make him content, and whoever tries to make due, Allah will suffice him. And whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. Nobody can be given a blessing better and more encompassing than patience."

The Messenger of Allaah [ﷺ] said:

«أحب للناس ما تحب لنفسك»

"Love for the people what you love for yourself."

Ibn Taymiyah's Rule of Love |

❝When you love someone for the sake of Allāh, it is Allāh who you truly love. So whenever you remember that person in your heart, you are reminded of your true love (Allāh) and this automatically increases your love for that person.❞

In another place Ibn Taymiyah explains that when you love someone for a specific reason (what they do for, what they give you, how they make you feel, etc) you don't really love them, you love that thing they offer, and once that thing is gone, so is your love.

To give us an idea of how important this topic is: Love is at the core of religion; it is a pillar of worship. It is your creed to love Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ more than anyone else or anything else.

And in a ḥadīth, Rasūl Allāh ﷺ tells us that there will be seven groups of people who will be shaded on the Day of Judgement, one group consists of people who loved one another purely for Allāh.

May Allāh make us from them.

May Allāh make His love and the love of His Messenger ﷺ foremost in our hearts.
