Al-Muṭṭalib reported that Umm Salamah narrated: On an occasion Abū Salamah came back after he was with Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ and said, “I heard Allāh’s Messenger recite a statement that made me delighted.”
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنْ الْمُطَّلِبِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ: أَتَانِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ يَوْمًا مِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْلًا فَسُرِرْتُ بِهِ،
He said, “No Muslim is struck with an affliction and then says istirja’ (saying: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiʿūn” [from Allāh we come and to Him we will return]) when the affliction strikes, and then he says, ‘O Allāh! reward me for my loss and give me what is better than it’, except that Allāh will do that for him.”
قَالَ: " لَا يُصِيبُ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مُصِيبَةٌ فَيَسْتَرْجِعَ عِنْدَ مُصِيبَتِهِ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي، وَاخْلُفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا، إِلَّا فُعِلَ ذَلِكَ بِهِ "،
Umm Salamah said: So I memorized these words. When Abū Salamah died I said istirja’ and said: “O Allāh, compensate me for my loss and give me what is better than it.”
قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: فَحَفِظْتُ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ، فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ اسْتَرْجَعْتُ وَقُلْتُ: اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَاخْلُفْنِي خَيْرًا مِنْهُ،
I then thought about it and said, “Who is better than Abū Salamah?”
ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ إِلَى نَفْسِي قُلْتُ: مِنْ أَيْنَ لِي خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ؟
When my ʿiddah finished, Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ asked for permission to see me while I was dyeing a skin that I had. I washed my hands, gave him permission to enter and handed him a pillow, and he sat on it. He then asked me for marriage and when he finished his speech.
فَلَمَّا انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتِي اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا أَدْبُغُ إِهَابًا لِي، فَغَسَلْتُ يَدَيَّ مِنَ الْقَرَظِ وَأَذِنْتُ لَهُ، فَوَضَعْتُ لَهُ وِسَادَةَ أَدَمٍ حَشْوُهَا لِيفٌ، فَقَعَدَ عَلَيْهَا فَخَطَبَنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ مَقَالَتِهِ،
I said, “O Messenger of Allāh! It is not that I do not want you, but I am very jealous and I fear that you might experience some wrong mannerism from me for which Allāh would punish me. And I am old and have ʿiyāl (children).”
قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا بِي أَنْ لَا تَكُونَ بِكَ الرَّغْبَةُ فِيَّ، وَلَكِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ فِيَّ غَيْرَةٌ شَدِيدَةٌ فَأَخَافُ أَنْ تَرَى مِنِّي شَيْئًا يُعَذِّبُنِي اللَّهُ بِهِ، وَأَنَا امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ دَخَلْتُ فِي السِّنِّ، وَأَنَا ذَاتُ عِيَالٍ،
He (ﷺ) then said, “As for the jealousy that you mentioned, Allāh the Exalted will remove it from you. As for being old as you mentioned, I have suffered what you have suffered. And as for what what you mentioned of having children, then verily your children are my children.”
فَقَالَ: «أَمَّا مَا ذَكَرْتِ مِنَالْغَيْرَةِ فَسَوْفَ يُذْهِبُهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْكِ، وَأَمَّا مَا ذَكَرْتِ مِنَ السِّنِّ فَقَدْ أَصَابَنِي مِثْلُ الَّذِي أَصَابَكِ، وَأَمَّا مَا ذَكَرْتِ مِنَ الْعِيَالِ فَإِنَّمَا عِيَالُكِ عِيَالِي»،
She said, “I have submitted to Allāh’s Messenger.”
قَالَتْ: فَقَدْ سَلَّمْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،
Allāh’s Messenger married her.
فَتَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،
And Umm Salamah said later, “Allāh compensated me for Abū Salamah with someone better than him: the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.”
فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: فَقَدْ أَبْدَلَنِي اللَّهُ بِأَبِي سَلَمَةَ خَيْرًا مِنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Like The Body
On the authority of An-Nu’maan Bin Basheer in a narration ascribed to the Prophet [ﷺ]:

Know Your Worth O Youth
Al-Baihaqee recorded in al-Madkhal ilas-Sunanil-Kubraa (no.679):
“Abu ‘Aasim said:
A youth from the people of knowledge was present the gathering of Sufyaan Ath-Thawree (d. 161H); so the youth put himself forward at the head of the gathering, and started talking and boasting with his knowledge in front of those who were older than him.
So Sufyaan (rahimahullaah) became angry, and said:
“The Salaf were not like this! One of them would not claim leadership for himself and he would not sit in the forefront of the gathering until he had sought knowledge for thirty years! And you display arrogance in front of one who is older than you. Get up from me and don’t come near my gathering.”
And Sufyan al-Thawree (died 161H) said:
“If you see a youth speaking in the presence of Mashaayikh; even if he has acquired a portion of knowledge, then lose hope in his goodness, for verily he has no shame.”
Ibn Abee Dunyaa in As-Samt wa Aadaabul-Lisaan (586,588), and Al-Khateeb al-Baghdaadee in Al-Faqeeh wal-Mutafaqqih (2/275) that Ibraheem Al-Ad-ham said:
“If a youngster (or new comer) speaks in front of us in our gathering, then we lose hope in him.”
Ar-Raamaharmuzee (rahimahullaah) reported that Makhlad Ibn Husain said:
“We are more in need of a great portion of manners than a small amount of ‘Ilm.”

📌Pleasure of Allāh vs. Anger of the people
🎙The Messenger of Allāh [ﷺ] said:
《مَنِ الْتَمَسَ رِضَى اللَّهِ بِسَخَطِ النَّاسِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، وَأَرْضَى النَّاسَ عَنْهُ، وَمَنِ الْتَمَسَ رِضَا النَّاسِ بِسَخَطِ اللَّهِ سَخَطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَسْخَطَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسَ.》
💠Whoever seeks the Pleasure of Allāh while angering the people will have Allāh pleased with him, who shall make the people pleased with him [anyway].
💠Whoever seeks to please the people while angering Allāh will have Allāh angry with him, who shall make the people angry with him [anyway].

Question:
Our Shaykh, the question is: Here in the west, particularly in America, Canada, and Britain, we have well-known Salafee Masaajid, and centers; classes and lectures are held therein with some of the students of knowledge and visiting scholars whenever possible. When this is the case, is it okay for the women who live near to these Salafee centers to establish Da’wah groups distinct from the centers and Masaajid in their areas, in which the people are gathered upon good?
And what is your advice to the women who are the founders of these organizations?
Answer:
It is incumbent that they ask the men and not suffice with their (own) knowledge; because the knowledge of the women is deficient. They have to ask the men. When she has a problem then she must ask (the men) and when there is a matter which is common and easy which everyone knows, then she can speak regarding it. As for in cases of necessity in which there is a question then she is to ask a Shaykh and take from him; either by way of the telephone or when a Shaykh comes to them then she can ask him. The women may have distinct lessons, but it is a must that scholars supervise them, even if by way of the telephone. And they are to ask them.
However, the woman is not to suffice with herself; because the men have learned and are able to study and travel to the lands and that is not easy for the women. So it is a MUST that she refer to the men.
Perhaps she may say: “I am a Shaykhah!” Huh? You are a Shaykhah? You have studied?
You are (but) a student; a student of knowledge. Allaahul-Musta’aan. May Allaah bless you and may Allaah reward you with good.
Questioner:
May Allaah give you life; may Allaah reward you, our Shaykh.
Shaykh Adds:
The Prophet (upon him be prayers and peace) said: “Convey from me, even if only one verse.” The woman may convey. If you know a verse; you understand it and you act upon it, then mention it to the people. Similarly for the woman; she may speak with it to the people.
HOWEVER, sitting and giving lessons all day and the people coming to her, she does not have the ability to do this. She has other more important matters; (such as) the children; the home; her husband; and so on. They are affairs which every woman knows their value. The role of the woman is great in the cultivation of the children; and Islaam has given her a great station; and that is remaining within the home; and she is (therein) an Ameerah! She cultivates the children upon good. However, she is not like the European woman, doing whatever she wants; no. All of it is within the limits of the Sharee’ah. And may Allaah bless you and reward you with good.

Shaykh Adds:
The Prophet (upon him be prayers and peace) said: “Convey from me, even if only one verse.” The woman may convey. If you know a verse; you understand it and you act upon it, then mention it to the people. Similarly for the woman; she may speak with it to the people.
HOWEVER, sitting and giving lessons all day and the people coming to her, she does not have the ability to do this. She has other more important matters; (such as) the children; the home; her husband; and so on. They are affairs which every woman knows their value. The role of the woman is great in the cultivation of the children; and Islaam has given her a great station; and that is remaining within the home; and she is (therein) an Ameerah! She cultivates the children upon good. However, she is not like the European woman, doing whatever she wants; no. All of it is within the limits of the Sharee’ah. And may Allaah bless you and reward you with good.

How Imam Shafī'ī رحمه الله Spent his Nights:
Al-Rabī’ ibn Sulaymān reports:
Imam Shāfi’ī رحمه الله used to divide the night into three parts: he would write (knowledge) for the first third, pray during the second third and sleep during the last third.
It is reported from Ḥusayn Al-Karābīsī that he said:
I spent the night with Imam Shāfi’ī رحمه الله He would pray for about a third of the night. I hardly ever saw him recite more than fifty verses (in the prayer), one hundred at most. Whenever he came to a verse about mercy, he would ask Allāh for His Mercy, for himself and for the believers; and whenever he came to a verse about punishment, he would seek Allāh’s refuge from it, and ask salvation for himself and for all the believers. So it is as if both hope and fear were brought together for him.
[Al-Bayhaqī, Ma’rifatu Al-Sunan articles 362, 365]

We Must Acquire Ilm Everyday, Even a Little!
The first Surah [Al-Alaq] revealed to the Prophet began with Ilm -[Iqrah -read] & ends with Usjud[prostrate], because reading & learning has to precede deeds, so that a person learns how to worship Allaah.
[2] Umar Bin Abdil Azeez said, "Whoever worships Allaah without Ilm, then what he'll corrupt will be more than what he rectifies." This is why Ilm should be acquired first, so that the worship of a person, his statements & deeds are based on clear-sightedness & guidance.
[3] The Prophet used to supplicate every morning - after Fajr prayer-saying:
اللهم اني اسألك علما نافعا ورزقا طيبا وعملا متقبلا
O Allaah! Indeed, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good [or pure] provision .1and deeds that are accepted.
[3.2] So, the Prophet asked for Ilm first before rizq, because there is halaal, haraam, good & filthy rizq, for how can one differentiate between halaal, haraam, good & filthy rizq without Ilm?! Ilm is also what distinguish between righteous deeds & deeds that are not Righteous.
[3.3] Also from that which is benefited from this supplication is that a Muslim should acquire a portion of Ilm every day, because the Prophet used to ask for beneficial Ilm every day. Therefore, do acquire some knowledge everyday even if it is a little.

Duʿāʾ is one of the most beneficial of remedies; it is the enemy of calamity; it wards it off, remedies it, prevents it befalling, alleviates it or reduces it if it befalls. It is the weapon of the believer. In the case of calamity, one of three scenarios must apply:
1. The duʿāʾ is stronger than the calamity, so it wards it off;
2. It is weaker than the calamity, so the calamity overpowers it and befalls the person, but it may reduce it even if it is weak;
3. They resist one another and each prevents the other.
Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Jawāb al-Kāfī 1/10m

Todays Hadith is about wealth.
It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri (RA) said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Soon the best wealth of a Muslim will be the sheep which follows in the mountain peaks and places where rainfall is to be found, fleeing with his religion from the tribulations."
(Sunan an-Nasa'i, Book 47, Hadith 52)

◾ Some of the merits of Prostrating (Sajdah) to Allaah alone◾
Abu Umaamah رضي الله عنه said: I came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said to him: “Teach me something, for which I will have to ask no one after you.” He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Know that you do not prostrate to Allaah except that (with every) prostration Allaah raises you a degree, and removes from you a sin.” [Musnad Ahmad (5/248-249) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (1488) and said: “It is as per the condition of (Imaam) Muslim”]
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication (in this state).” [Saheeh Muslim (979)]
