There is a proverb that states, “It’s not about how many books you read, rather, it’s about how well you have understood them.”

The Righteous Companion & The Wicked Companion

There has come on the authority of Abū Mūsā (raḍī Allāhu 'anhu) that the Prophet (ṣalla Allāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:

"The example of the righteous companion and the wicked companion is like that of a carrier of musk and a blacksmith. The carrier of musk will either give you some [musk] or you will purchase some from him, or at the least you will find from him a pleasant smell. The blacksmith will either burn your clothing or at the least you will find from him a repugnant smell."

[Agreed upon; Al-Bukhārī reported it in the Ṣaḥīḥ, 5/2104, in The Book of Slaughtering and Game; chapter: "Musk," no. 5214. Muslim reported it in the Ṣaḥīḥ, 4/202 in The Book of Etiquettes; chapter: "Encouragement to Have Righteous Companionship and to Avoid Evil Companions," no. 2628 | Book: The Deviation of the Youth: Its Causes and the Means to Remedy It, p. 38 | By Shaykh Sulaymān al-Ruhaylī | Translated by Rāhā ibn Donald Batts | T•R•O•I•D Publications]

🔴Don't Open up yourself to worry and Regret

“A person shouldn’t open himself up to worry and regret, because that will upset him and spoil his life and maybe even his religion, that is why the Prophet ﷺ said about a person who has had something he dislikes happen to him even after carrying out all available means,
👇
‘Don’t say, ‘If …,’ for (saying), ‘If …,’ opens (the door) to the deeds of Satan.’”🚪👈

WEIGHT GAIN 🥒

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin (رضي الله عنها):

"My mother intended to make me gain weight to send me to the (house of) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). But nothing which she desired benefited me till she gave me cucumber with fresh dates to eat. Then I gained as much weight (as she desired)."

Prophet Muḥammad Ṣallallāhu-'Alaihi Wa Sallam said:

“Whoever conceals knowledge (from people), Allāh will make him wear a BRIDLE MADE OF FIRE on the Day of Resurrection.”

*► Narrated: Abdullah*
“The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) lay down on a reed mat, and it left marks on his skin.
I said:
‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah If you had told us we would have provided you with something that would save you this trouble.’
The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
‘What is there between myself and the world?
This world and I are just like a rider who stops to rest beneath the shade of a tree then goes and leaves it.’”

❝In the heart are disorders that cannot be remedied except by responding to Allāh. In it is a desolate feeling that cannot be removed except by intimacy with Him solitude. In it is sadness which will not leave except by happiness with knowing Him and truthfulness in his dealings. In it is anxiety that is not made tranquil except by gathering for His sake and fleeing to Him from His punishment. In it is a fire of regret which cannot be extinguished except by satisfaction with His commands, prohibitions, and decrees, and embracing patience with that until the time he meets Him. In it is a strong desire that will not cease until He is the only one who is sought. In it is a void that cannot be filled except by His love, turning to Him, always remembering Him, and being sincere to Him. Were a person to be given the entire world and everything in it, that would never fill the void.❞

[Shaykh al-Islām Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) - Madārij as-Sālikīn
Ibn al-Jawzee (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said:

You must realize that circumstances throughout time do not constantly remain the same way. Allaah – the Almighty and Most Majestic – said, ((We grant victory to people on some days and allow their defeat on others)). Thus, there are times of prosperity and others of poverty; times of honour and others of humiliation; times when those who support you feel happiness, and others when those against you feel happiness because of your misfortune.

However, the truly fortunate person is the one who continues to observe a certain trait throughout all circumstances. That trait is called “taqwaa” [and it refers to protecting oneself from Allaah’s punishment by fulfilling His commands and avoiding His prohibitions].

When a person observes that quality, it enhances him if he experiences prosperity, it opens the gates of perseverance for him if he faces poverty, it completes the blessings he has if he enjoys wellbeing, and it carries him through adversity if he is tested. When a person observes that quality, he would not be harmed in any way, regardless of whether circumstances leave him lowered or elevated, exposed or covered, hungry or full. That is because all of these conditions eventually come to an end and they change.

Observing taqwaa (protecting oneself from Allaah’s punishment by fulfilling His commands and avoiding His prohibitions) is the foundation of safety. It is a guard that does not sleep, it takes a person by the hand when he slips, and it enables him to stay within the bounds that Allaah has set.

The truly unfortunate person is the one who is deceived by any enjoyment he attains while neglecting to observe taqwaa, since that enjoyment will eventually change and leave him in a state of loss.

Therefore, you must observe taqwaa in all circumstances. When you do that, you will see relief even in times of difficulty, and wellbeing even in times of illness. These are immediate advantages of observing taqwaa, and its long-term advantages which lie ahead are well-known (i.e. from other pertinent texts).

The Companion that Stays

It is reported that Al-Nuʿmān b. Bashīr – Allāh be pleased with him – said:

The example of the son of Adam and death is that of a man who has three friends. He says to one of them: “What do you have?” [The first friend] replies, “I have your wealth, take from it what you wish, and whatever you do not take, you will no longer possess.” Then he asks the second, “What do you have?” He replies, “I will look after you, and when you die, I will bury you and then leave you.” The man then asks the third, “What do you have?” He replies, “I will be with you wherever you go.” [Al-Nuʿmān] said, “As for the first one, it is the wealth of a person: whatever he uses is his, and whatever he does not use is not. As for the second, it is a man’s family and kin: when he dies they take care of him, then they leave him. As for the third, it is a man’s actions: wherever he goes (before and after death), they go with him.”

Let Allāh Deal With Him / Her

A man said to Abū Ad-Dardā': Tell me a statement by which Allāh will benefit me? He said:

❝Give your honor unto Allāh. So that whoever reviles you or curses you, leave him to Allāh [to deal with].❞

[Al-Hilyah, (1/219) | Translated By Raha Batts]
The Prophet sallalaahu alaihi wa sallam said,
"Whoever accuses a Believer of something that is not true, then Allaah will make him dwell in the pus flowing from the inhabitants of the Fire and he will not leave until he retracts from what he has said."

🚫 Begging 🚫

Prophet Muḥammad Ṣallallāhu-'Alaihi Wa Sallam said:

“For one of you to take his rope, go to a mountain, carry a bundle of wood on his back and then sell it – Allāh sufficing him with it to (save) his face – is BETTER for him than BEGGING people whether they give him or withhold.”

They Accuse Us Of Separating And Dividing

Shaykh Muhammad Nasir Uddeen Al-Albaani [رحمه الله] said:

❝Nowadays, those who criticise us by saying that you people separate and divide!

We ask them, we separate what from what?

We are callers to the Book and the Sunnah and the Manhaj of the Salaf As-Salih, so are you with us?

If he says, 'I am with you', so therefore we have not separated and divided.

If he says, 'No I'm not with you', so therefore then you are the one who has separated from us!❞

[Silsilah Al-Huda Wa Noor, (Tape: 200) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya Miraath al-Anbiyya]
SOMEONE IN SICKNESS, HOW DOES HE FORGET TO SAY:

"Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy." (21:83)

DON'T YOU SEE WHAT ALLAH SAYS AFTERWARDS?

"So We answered his call, and We removed the distress that was on him." (21:84)
