The Meaning and Ruling of Hijrah

The definition of Hijrah is: To abandon the Land of Shirk, i.e. to leave it, and to come to a Land of Islaam. This is since the word Hijrah is derived from the root hajr which means to abandon or leave off. The Muslims were commanded to abandon the Land of Shirk and go to the Land of Islaam. The ruling on Hijrah is that it is obligatory for the one who is able to do it. This is why Allaah informs us that there will be a group of people whom the angels will take in death while they are wronging themselves due to their lack of migrating and their preferring the Land of Shirk.

Allaah (سبحانه وتعالى) says: “Verily, as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (by not performing Hijrah), they (angels) will say (to them): ‘In what (condition) were you?’ They will reply: ‘We were weak and oppressed in the earth.’ They (angels) will say: ‘Was not the earth of Allaah spacious enough for you to migrate therein?’ Such men will find their abode in Hell – what an evil destination! Except the weak ones among men, women and children – who cannot devise a plan, nor are they able to direct their way. These are the ones whom Allaah is (most) likely to forgive, and Allaah is Ever Oft-Pardoning, Most Forgiving.” [Surah An-Nisaa: 97-99]

And He (سبحانه وتعالى) says: “O My servants who believe (in Me)! Verily, My earth is spacious so to Me alone, perform your worship.” [Surah Al-‘Ankaboot: 56]

Al-Baghawee (رحمه الله) said: “The reason for the revelation of this ayah was due to some Muslims who had resided in Makkah and did not migrate (to Madeenah). Allaah called out to them using the noscript of Eemaan (for them).”

We derive from these verses that Hijrah is obligatory on the one who is able to do it, which requires him to move from a Land of Disbelief to a Land of Islaam. This is since in a Land of Disbelief, the believer is exposed to harm and the government will be against him as opposed to in his favor. Even though he may be safe from harm, he will still not be safe from having to seek judgement in laws that are not from Allaah’s Legislation, such as man-made laws, which they use to govern the people.

However, Hijrah in our present time must only be done with the permission from the country that one is migrating to. So if the country refuses to accept this emigrant, then he has no ability or power in the matter except by Allaah’s leave.

Things used to be easy (in the old days). But as for today, there is difficulty in Hijrah either from the side of the country that one is migrating from or from the side of the country that one is migrating to. So whoever is able to make Hijrah, with ease and no difficulty, to a Land of Islaam, then such a person is obligated to do that. Furthermore, some of the Muslim countries today apply strict measures against those who adhere to the Religion of Allaah in everything that he brings and leaves behind.

In summary, any Muslim that lives in a country, which the disbelievers rule based on man-made laws, must migrate from it if he is easily able to do it. And if it is not easy for him, then according to what is apparent (from the texts), he is excused due to Allaah’s saying: “Allaah does not burden a soul with more than it can handle.” [Surah Al-Baqarah: 286]. And with Allaah lies the success.

Garlic, Honey & Apple Cider Vinegar (Sunnah style)

DISCLAIMER: This post is not advice. Always consult your doctor before taking. If you do, take at your own risk.

This is an excellent home remedy that you want to keep available at all times in your home. It's great as a preventative and for maintaining good health. There are some variations to this with the addition of other ingredients such as ginger, or cayenne pepper. The base mixture includes the three main ingredients of garlic, apple cider vinegar and honey. Each of these three ingredients have individual benefits on their own and in this mixture, a synergistic effect enhances the properties of each.

The apple cider vinegar must be unfiltered and the honey must be raw, unpasteurised (and preferably organic) honey for all the benefits to be realised. One of the main reasons honey is pasteurised is to speed up the packaging process (heating makes it flow much quicker) - so pretty much all honeys from supermarkets will be unsuitable.

This remedy is an immune stimulant, it lowers blood pressure as well as cholesterol (if you are someone who still believes in that hypothesis), it leads to fewer colds and infections, and is helpful in conditions such as gout, arthritis, and joint aches. It is also a good tonic for the digestive tract and benefits the skin, and is helpful in weight loss. In short, it is beneficial for a wide range of conditions as it is a general immune stimulant and enhancer. You can read the numerous articles on garlic, honey and vinegar elsewhere on this site.

Ingredients:
8 cloves of fresh garlic
1 cup (200ml) of unfiltered, unpasteurised organic apple cider vinegar
1 cup (200ml) of raw, unpasteurised honey
Small piece of ginger (this is optional but old ginger is best, not new ginger)

Instructions
Mix all the ingredients into a blender and mix at high speed for 45-60 seconds. Alternatively, you can put the garlic in first, blend well so it becomes fine - or you can use a garlic crusher instead - and then place in the blender, then mix in the honey and apple cider vinegar and blend for another 10-15 seconds seconds.

Then pour into a glass jar or container (sealable) and leave in the refrigerator for five days, with the occasional stir every day. After five days the mixture is ready.

Variations
There are other things that can be included. You can added a small amount of ginger (one or two inch length), you just put it in the blender with the garlic, and some cayenne pepper (one small to medium sized pepper) can also be added.

Dosage
The normal dosage is 2 tsp in a glass of water, daily, first thing in the morning. The mixture is very strong, and should not be taken directly.

Wearing best clothes for Jumua and not stepping over the necks of people (creating distraction)

'Abd Allah b. 'Amr al-'As reported the Prophet (salalaahu Alaihi wasalam) as saying: Whoever washed himself on Friday and applies perfume of his wife if she has one, and wears good clothes and does not step over the necks of the people (in the masjid to sit in the front row) and does not indulge in idle talk during the sermon, that will atone (for his sins) between the two Fridays. But he who indulges in idle talk and steps over the necks of people (in the masjid), that (Friday) will be for him like the noon prayer.

Grade: Hasan, Sunan Abi Dawud 347
Using oil and perfume on Friday.
Narrated Salman-Al-Farsi [(may Allah be pleased with him)

The Prophet (salalaahu Alaihi wasalam) said, "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the masjid), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven."
Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 883.
Perfume, only for brothers, sisters putting it on when going to masjid is Haram.

Abu Moosa al-Ash’ari said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who puts on perfume then passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, is an adulteress.”

Zaynab al-Thaqafiyyah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If any one of you (women) goes out to the mosque, let her not touch any perfume.”

Abu Hurayrah said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who has scented herself with bakhoor (incense), let her not attend ‘Ishaa’ prayers with us.”

Moosa ibn Yassaar said that a woman passed by Abu Hurayrah and her scent was overpowering. He said, “O female slave of al-Jabbaar, are you going to the mosque?” She said, “Yes,” He said, “And have you put on perfume because of that?” She said, “Yes.” He said, “Go back and wash yourself, for I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘If a woman comes out to the mosque and her fragrance is overpowering, Allaah will not accept any prayer from her until she goes home and washes herself.’”

Going out to the masjid with perfume, your salat will be invalid.

Note: is allowed praying in the house with perfume , perfume is only Haram when going out for you as a woman.
Coming early for Jumua

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah [ may Allah be pleased with him ] that: The Messenger of Allah(salalaahu Alaihi wasalam) said: "Whoever performs ghusl as from janabah on Friday, then comes (to the masjid), it is as if he sacrificed a camel. Then the one who comes in the second hour, it is as if he sacrificed a cow. Then the one who comes in the third hour, it is as if he sacrificed a ram. Then the one who comes in the fourth hour, it is as if he sacrificed a chicken. Then the one who comes in the fifth hour, it is as if he sacrificed an egg. Then when the imam comes out, the angels attend to listen to the khutbah."

Sahih, Sunan Nasai book 14, Hadith 25

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen was asked: When does the first hour of Friday begin?

He replied: The hours which were mentioned by the Prophet are five. So the time between sunrise and the imam’s arrival is divided into five parts, each of which may be equivalent to what we know as an hour (60 minutes), or it may be more or less, because time changes.

WHOSOEVER DENIES ANY OF THE NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES OF ALLAH!

By Sheikh-ul-Islam Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab rahimahullah

Chapter No: 40, Kitab At-Tauhid, The Book of Monotheism

Allah the Most Exalted said:

وَهُمۡ يَكۡفُرُونَ بِٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ‌ۚ قُلۡ هُوَ رَبِّى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيۡهِ تَوَڪَّلۡتُ وَإِلَيۡهِ مَتَابِ

"... and they disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allah) Say: "He is my Lord! Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! In Him is my trust, and to Him will be my return with repentance." (13:30)

Narrated Ali رضي الله عنه :

"You should preach to the people in a way that they can easily understand. Would you like that Allah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم) be denied?" (Al-Bukhari)

Abdur-Razzaq reported from Ma'mar from Ibn Tawus from his father that Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) narrated:

He (Ibn Abbas) saw a man springing to his feet in disapproval of the statement when he heard a Hadith from the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم about the Divine Attributes. Then he (Ibn Abbas) said, "What type of the fear is of these people!? They find in entirely clear verses that which they fear and are brought to ruin by those verses which are not entirely clear (in which they seek deviant interpretations)."

When the tribe of Quraish heard Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم mentioning Ar-Rahman, they denied this Attribute. It was on this occasion that Allah the Almighty revealed the verse:

وَهُمۡ يَكۡفُرُونَ بِٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ‌ۚ

"And they disbelieve in Ar-Rahman [the Most Beneficent (Allah)]" (13:30)

IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE CHAPTER

1) The denial of any of the Names or Attributes of Allah casts out one from Imaan.

2) Detailed account of the verse (13:30).

3) Avoid speaking in a manner which the listener cannot understand clearly.

4) Mentioning the reasons which lead to the denial of Allah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم) even unintentionally.

5) Warning of Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما to the effect that whoever denies any of the Attributes of Allah, he would be ruined.
