Hajj Akbar Yaum ul Hajjil Akbar
Question: what is the meaning of the "Day of the Greatest Hajj" and the "Greatest Hajj"? Are they synonymous? Or, do they differ in meaning? Are they both in the Glorious Qur'an and authentic Sunnah (whatever is reported from the Prophet)?
Answer:
The greatest day of Hajj is the Day of Sacrifice, which is the tenth day of Dhu’l-Hijjah. Abu Dawood narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood up on the day of Sacrifice during the Hajj that he performed and said: “What day is this?” They said, “the Day of Sacrifice.” He said, “This is the greatest day of Hajj.” Sunan Abi Dawood, 1945; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 1700.
Al-Bukhaari (369) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq (may Allaah be pleased with him) sent me amongst the announcers to proclaim in Mina on the Day of Sacrifice, “After this year no mushrik is allowed to perform Hajj or to circumambulate the House naked.”
The Day of Sacrifice is called the greatest day of Hajj because during that night there is the standing at ‘Arafah and staying overnight in al-Mash’ar al-Haraam, and during that day there is the stoning of the Jamrah, offering the sacrifice, shaving the head, tawaaf and saa’i, which are all actions of Hajj. The day of Hajj refers to the time and the denoscription of greatest refers to the actions done at that time. The greatest day of Hajj is mentioned in the Qur’aan where Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And a declaration from Allaah and His Messenger to mankind on the greatest day (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah — the 12th month of Islamic calendar)” [al-Tawbah 9:3]
And Allaah is the Source of strength.

Towards the end of time, hardly any dreams will be untrue. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “That will be because the prophethood and its effects will be so far away in time, so the believers will be given some compensation in the form of dreams which will bring them some good news or will help them to be patient and steadfast in their faith.” (al-Bukhari, 6499; Muslim, 4200)

THE FORBIDDANCE OF TAKING OATHS FREQUENTLY!
Chapter No: 62, Kitab At-Tauhid, The Book of Monotheism
Allah the Most Exalted said:
وَٱحۡفَظُوٓاْ أَيۡمَـٰنَكُمۡۚ
"And protect your oaths." (5:89)
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that he heard Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم saying: "By swearing (the seller) may persuade the buyer to purchase the goods but he will be deprived of Allah's blessing."
(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
It is narrated from Salman (رضي الله عنه) that Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم said: "There are three types of people whom Allah will not speak to and neither will He bless them and for them is the severe torment. They are: (i) A greying adulterer; (ii) An arrogant beggar; (iii) The one who has made Allah as his merchandise that is, he does not purchase except by swearing (by Allah), nor does he sell except by swearing (by Allah)." [(At-Tabarani reorded the above Hadith with Sahih Isnad)]
It is reported in Sahih (Muslim) from Imran bin Husain رضي الله عنه that Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم said:
"The best of my Ummah (nation) is my generation, then those who (immediately) follow them, then those who (immediately) follow them." Imran said, "I don't know if he mentioned after his generation two (successive generations afterwards) or three." "Then there will come a generation who will be ready to witness without being requested to do so and also they will be treacherous and untrustworthy. They will take oaths for vowing but never fulfill them, and obesity will be seen in them." (i.e. due to their preoccupation in acquiring worldly ease)." (Muslim)
Also reported in Muslim and Al-Bukhari from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said:
"The best of mankind is my generation then those who come (immediately) after them, then those who come after them. Thereafter will come a people whose witnesses will go ahead of their oaths and the oaths will go ahead of their witnesses."
Ibrahim (Nakhyee رحمه الله) said: "In our childhood, we were beaten by our elders to stand firm on witnesses and covenants."
IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE CHAPTER
1) Admonishment to protect oaths.
2) Declaration that by swearing, the goods are sold but deprived of blessing.
3) Threat of severe punishment for those who do not buy or sell without swearing.
4) Warning that committing sin for small reasons or no reason increases the degree of sin.
5) Censure for those who swear by themselves without being asked to swear.
6) The Prophet's praise for the first three or four generations and his prophecy of what would happen after them.
7) They would bear witness without being asked to do so.
8) Predecessors of the pious Muslims used to beat their children for (needlessly) bearing witness (by Allah's Name) or by the covenant (of Allah).

ALWAYS CHECK ON YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
We live in a generation where families no longer sit down together as a unit. Everyone is nowadays living on his own, no phone calls, no SMS, no visiting, I mean no communication at all.
Most people do that maybe because they don't have time, or they had a misunderstanding with one of the family members, or maybe because they feel like they don't need them, family, anymore.
What you are forgetting is, that you can never make it when you are alone. Find a friend you can trust and call when things go bad with you. Find a family, it doesn't have to be all the family members, find one person you can easily reach out to whenever you experience some problems in your life.
Lonely life is good, but it's bad too when a calamity strikes. Imagine if that was your body found thereafter rotting, what do you think led to that?
No friends, no relatives, no one to talk to, living a lonely life such that your presence or absence doesn't affect the people around you.
Friends, and family, kindly also learn to check on your people, do not assume that because they are quiet they are getting it well on their side. Stress might be killing them, depression might be taking them to the grave, I mean, something wrong might be happening to them. Please stop assuming that they are okay. Reach out to them.

THE IMPORTANCE OF AL-WALA' WAL-BARA'
Ibn 'Abbas (radiAllahu anhu) said:
"Whoever loves for the sake of Allah, and hates for the sake of Allah, and whoever seals a friendship for His sake, or declares an enmity for His sake, will receive, because of this, the protection of Allah.
No one may taste true Iman [faith] except by this, even if his prayers and fasts are many.
People have come to build their relationships around the concerns of the world [Dunya], but it will not benefit them in any way."

Reminder: Mending Your Intentions
So my brothers! Focus on mending your intentions (islāḥ al-niyya) and refrain from showing-off to people, and let your main pillar (of support) be straight with Allāh. This was how the salaf gained elevation and fortune.

Whenever you feel alone, sad or misunderstood remember...
Prophet Ibrahim alayhi salam when his whole community rejected him, including his father, and placed him in a burning fire.
Prophet Yusuf alayhi salam when his own brothers sold him for a measly amount, out of jealousy and hatred for him.
Maryam alayhi salam when she had to give birth to her baby alone, and then return to her people to face them.
Hajar radiAllahu anha when she was left alone with her baby in a desert with little provision.
The mother of Musa alayhi salam when she had to cast her newborn baby into the flowing river.
Due to the taqwa and unwavering tawakkul that each of the above mentioned people had, Allah showed them a way out, even when the odds were entirely against them.
Allah Almighty cooled the fire for Ibrahim alayhi salam and he emerged unharmed.
Allah raised the status of Yusuf alayhi salam high above his brothers and granted him a position of authority and dignity.
Allah caused the newborn baby Eesa to speak and prove his mother's innocence.
The well of Zamzam sprung up from the barren land and from it was borne the city of Makkah.
The baby Musa was returned to his mother within a few hours of her casting him into the river.
So, when you feel like there is no way out, know that when you truly believe that Allah is with you, there will always be a way out. When your tawakkul in Allah is strong He will perform miracles, just as He did for those that passed before you.

PROHIBITION OF EVIL THOUGHTS REGARDING ALLAH!
Chapter No: 59, Kitab At-Tauhid, The Book of Monotheism
Allah the Almighty said:
"They thought wrongly of Allah -the thought of ignorance. They said, 'Have we any part in the affair?' Say you (O Muhammad (صلي الله عليه وسلم ): 'Indeed the affair belongs wholly to Allah.' They hide within themselves what they dare not reveal to you, saying: 'If we had anything to do with the affair, none of us would have been killed here.' Say: 'Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death,' but that Allah might test what is in your breasts; and to Mahis[1] that which was in your hearts (sins), and Allah is All-Knower of what is in (your) breasts." (3:154)
Allah the Most Exalted said:
ٱلظَّآنِّينَ بِٱللَّهِ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوۡءِۚ عَلَيۡہِمۡ دَآٮِٕرَةُ ٱلسَّوۡءِۖ
"Who think evil thoughts about Allah, for them is a disgraceful torment."
(48:6)
Ibn Al-Qaiyim (رحمه الله) said regarding the first verse: "The thought of ignorance is explained as meaning that Allah عز وجل will not help the Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and his mission will soon fade away. It is also explained as meaning that the afflictions he suffered were not due to Divine Preordainment from Allah and His Wisdom. It is therefore explained as the denial of Wisdom and Decree and denial that the mission of His Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم) would be completed and that it would prevail over all other religions. These were the evil thoughts in the minds of Munafiqun (hypocrites) and Mushrikun (polytheists) which are mentioned in Surat Al-Fath as Su'-uz-Zan (evil thoughts). Su'-uz-Zan (evil thoughts) are against what is befitting the Most Perfect. Neither do they befit His Wisdom and Praiseworthiness nor His True Promise. Any person who thinks that the falsehood (Satan, polytheism etc.) will prevail over truth (Islamic Monotheism) continuously and it would cause truth to vanish; or who denies that things occur due to Allah's Decision and Decree; or who denies an overriding wisdom behind His Decree that is deserving of praise and thinks that such is due to an arbitrary purposeless will: these are the thoughts of those who disbelieve. Woe to those who disbelieve of the punishment of Hell.
"Most people think the worst of Allah with regards to what affects them in particular and what He does with others. No one is safe from that, except who truly knows Allah and His Names and Attributes, and the necessity of His Wisdom and Praise. Let the intelligent recipient of good advice look closely at himself in this matter and let him repent to Allah and beg His forgiveness for having harbored the worst thought about his Lord. If you were to look closely at (such individuals), you would see in him distress and annoyance with what Allah has decreed, blaming and finding fault in it, and thinking, it should rather be such and such. In this thought, some are up to lesser extent and others up to greater. Examine yourself: Are you free from such thoughts? If you are saved from it you have been saved from a great calamity. But if not, I cannot regard you as saved!"
IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE CHAPTER
1) Explanation of the verse in Al-Imran (3:154).
2) Explanation of the verse in Surat Al-Fath (48:6).
3) Notice that the worst estimation of Allah (Su'-uz-Zan) is of uncounted variety.
4) Only the person who knows himself and (true meaning of) the Names and Attributes of Allah is safe from harboring such thoughts.

“HEARTFELT ADVICE TO A FRIEND ”
In this short yet substantial tract of ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah be pleased with him),
he pens a message of heartfelt advice and appreciation to a friend of his by the name of 'Ala' Al-Din; invoking Allah's Kindness, Guidance and Blessing upon him.
Within this translation of 'Risalatu ibn al-Qayyim ila' Ahadi Ikhwawanihi', the author explains the finer points of needing seeking Allah's guidance in all of our affairs and the means to persist upon the Straight Path.
This is one of the most beautiful and amazing pieces of advice by the great scholar Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah be pleased with him):

Heartfelt Advice To A Friend
Good advice to friend
💯4👍3
After what transpired between Yusuf عليه السلام and his brothers, and they finally realised their long lost brother whom they had plotted against years ago was thesame Minister of Egypt, they were overcome by shame and remorse and they sought his forgiveness, which was granted. Then they said
تالله لقد ءاثرك الله علينا...
By Allāh! Allāh has prefered you over us...
Imagine for a second that as soon as the thoughts entered their heart that Yusuf was more beloving to their father than they were, they said "well, perhaps Allāh preferred him over us, that's why our father loves him more" then the seeds of envy planted by that thought may have never found place to grow in their hearts. Consequently, they may have never considered plotting to kill Yusuf and saved themselves from all the sin and trials.
In life you will find people favored much more than you do in certain regards; a colleague who is most loved by the boss, a friend who owns a car before you, a mate who gets a job or university admission before you, even a co-wife whom, try as your husband may to hide it, is loved more than you... you will find such people and find yourself wishing that was you, and perhaps you feel envy brew up in your heart. Were you to simply just embrace Qadr and say perhaps Allāh has prefered him or her to you in that regards, and Allāh is just in whatever He does, you will have found that any ill will you may have had towards that person will die a natural death.
As conscious Muslims, we don't question Allāh in His distribution of His dominion. He may give to someone what you fervently pray for and withhold it from you. It is His dominion and He distributes it as He wills. Ours is to put our trust in Him and accept whatever He releases unto us as what is best. May Allāh grant us the ability to tame our hearts and protect us from the evils of envy.

The purpose of life’s hardships is to test our sincerity
Do the people think that they will be left alone on saying, “We believe,” and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false. (29:2-3)
