BENEFITS OF RECITING QUR’AN WITH TRANSLATION ESPECIALLY IN RAMADAN

‎بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The Holy Quran is the 4th and Last Sacred Book of Allah SWT that He revealed upon His Last Messenger Muhammad ﷺ in the early 7th century A.D. It not only approves the previous Heavenly Manunoscripts of the Almighty and His Prophets, but also provides a complete guideline for living a successful life here and in the hereafter.

Muslims all over the world recite and understand this Sanctified Scripture as a religious duty and seek assistance from it.

The Creator of the world of the worlds says regarding the matter of understanding the Instructions present in Furqan e Hameed as:

“So when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.” [Quran, 7: 204]

The Holy Quran was first disclosed in the land of Arabia and its official language too is Arabic, but still God, the Exalted has emphasized on listening to its recitation closely in order to comprehend its true connotation. If the native Arabians were directed to do so, it means that those who do not know this mode of communication better, they are even more required to translate its teachings into their local speech to absorb it better.

Although, the plain recital might well lead to obtaining some benefits in terms of Allah`s Remembrance and seeking His forgiveness, but that is only possible when someone has already read or understood some of the essential teachings of Furqan e Hameed before. In case of new learners, it is only likely to get some advantage out of narration of this Consecrated Paperback when it is done in a language that it can easily understand.

Some of the great benefits of reading the Holy Quran with Translation (Understanding) are as follows:

More Reward For Non Arabic Natives

If this Revered Volume of Allah Ta’ala was just meant for plain recitation without understanding it, then it would not be possible for the rest of the world to realize its actual connotation. There is a great reward for reading the Holy Quran especially in case of Arabic being a foreign language, as it ultimately leads to attainment of Knowledge of the commandments of the Almighty Lord.

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Ma’sood (R.A) narrates that Rasulullah ﷺ said:
“Those who attempt to read it with difficulty (because of their lack of familiarity with the language) will merit double rewards.”

(Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood)

The above mentioned Hadith tells about tremendous amount of returns in the form of blessings of Allah Ta’ala as a result of having difficulty in the Quranic recital. It means that those who do not understand the Arabic language, yet they strive hard to learn about teachings of Furqan e Hameed, it will be considered a bigger effort for sake of pleasing the Gracious God.

In-Depth Reading Leading To More Understanding

It is common observation in any field of studies that comprehensive analysis of things leads to better understanding of the complex matters and concepts involved under consideration. Arabic too is a very intricate and hard to grasp lingo that calls for translation of the Holy Verses of Quran into some native language in order to be aware of them properly.

Hazrat Abu Sa’eed Khudri (R.A) narrates that Rasulullah ‎ﷺ‎ said:
‘That person who, due to excessive recitation of the Qur’an is not able to make Allah Ta’ala’s Dhikr and Du’a, Allah Ta’ala will bestow such a person with more blessings and Ni’mat than even those who make Dhikr and Du’a.’

(Tirmidhi)

It means that a person who thoroughly reads Furqan e Hameed so that it could make itself familiar with the Islamic Convictions attains more bounties of Allah Ta’ala as compared to spending that extra time in His Memory. This is so because while doing detailed study of the Quranic Revelations, one comes to know about its true significance which helps a person to put its life on the right track.

Knowing About Matters Concerning Daily Life
The Holy Quran does not just comprise of parables about the past nations, but also encloses life transforming instructions and guidelines from the Gracious God.

“And, We have certainly presented for the people in this Qur’an from every [kind of] example – that they might remember.” [Quran, 39: 27]

The above mentioned Ayah clearly indicates that this Sacred Book consists of such examples which are very crucial for one to remember in order to seek constant guidance.

No! Indeed, the Qur’an is a reminder. Then whoever wills will remember it. [Quran, 74: 54-55]

If Quran is a reminder, then how can one come to know about Warnings and Prompts discussed by Allah Ta’ala if a person does not understand the Arabic language? It increases the significance of translation of the Hallowed Verses so that one can recognize the essential directives and commands of the Almighty Lord.
Fulfillment of a Religious Duty

The demise of the Muslims in this day and age is undeniably down to ignorance of the true understanding of the Holy Quran. The present Muslim World has left this Heavenly Manunoscript in the hands of Mullas (Religious Scholars) and rest either just recite it in plain Arabic. Allah SWT has directed every believer to think over the Quranic Verses in order to get enlightened.

“[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.” [Quran, 38: 29]

In this Ayah, the Most Merciful has commanded all the Muslims to reflect on the Quranic Instructions not only to comprehend their implication for it is a Divine Book that leads towards righteousness and morality. The Almighty Lord also mentions about being reminded of what was understood in this world regarding Furqan e Hameed. All of this discussion leads towards one pinnacle point. I.e. reading and understanding the Holy Quran is far better than just reciting it and that is only possible when it is translated into some local or an easily explicable language.

In short, the Holy Quran is a highly Revered Volume of Allah Ta’ala that requires proper understanding, which is possible when it is interpreted in one`s own language

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The Dunya (worldly life); all of it is a fleeting enjoyment, and the best of the fleeting enjoyments of the Dunya is a righteous woman.”

Saheeh Muslim (no.1467) and the wording is from Saheeh al-Jaami as-Sagheer wa Ziyaadah no. 3413

Shaykh al-Uthaymeen rahimahullaah mentions:

So his (ﷺ) statement: “The Dunya is a fleeting enjoyment.” Meaning a thing that one benefits from and enjoys (i.e. utilises) just like a traveller utilises and benefits from his provisions and then it ends (i.e. it is temporary). And the best of these temporary enjoyments and provisions (that one enjoys and benefits from) is a righteous woman. If a person is given the success and ability to have a woman who is Saalihah (righteous and sound) in her religion and her intellect then this is the best of the transitory enjoyments and provisions of the life of this world. That is because she will safeguard and protect his secrets, his wealth and his children. And if she is sound in her intellect then she will be able to organise and manage his house in a good manner, and likewise the cultivation of her children. When he looks at her she pleases him, if he is away from her she safeguards herself for him, and if he entrusts her with something she will not betray him. So this woman is the best of the fleeting and temporary enjoyments and provisions of the worldly life.

For this reason the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said: “A woman is married for four reasons: for her wealth, her lineage, her beauty and her religion. So get (married to) the one with the religion, may your hands be covered with dust.” Meaning upon you is to marry her (the religious one) because she is the best a man can marry. The one with the religion even if she is not beautiful in appearance, but her manners and her religion will beautify her. So get married to the one with the religion, may your hands be covered with dust.

🎓Shaikh `Abdul Razzaaq al-Badr:

While reciting the Qur’aan, your concern should not be: "When can I finish this Surah?"

Rather, when reciting the Qur’aan, you should be concerned with: "When will I receive guidance through this Qur’aan?", "When will I benefit from this Qur’aan?", "When will I be from the people of al-Qur’aan (those who recite it and implement it)?"

Women Traveling for Hajj In Groups Without Any Male Family Members
Posted on June 29, 2023 by admin
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful…

QUESTION: If I came for Hajj in the company of a group of ladies, without any mahram (male family member) of mine, while I am more than 50 years old, is my Hajj considered correct?

ANSWER by Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allah have Mercy on him):

It is not permissible for a Muslim lady to perform Hajj without a mahram (male family member). The Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) said, “No woman may travel without a mahram accompanying her.” [1]

Some of the scholars held that it is permissible to perform Hajj in a group of trustworthy women without any mahram, yet this opinion is disproven. What is correct is what the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) said: “No woman may travel without a mahram accompanying her.” [1]

However, if it already occurred that she performed Hajj among a group of women, then her Hajj would still be valid, yet she must repent to Allah, as she has erred and incurred sin. So she must repent to Allah, have remorse, and not repeat the likes of this. The Hajj is still valid, if Allah so wills, because she has fulfilled the rites of Hajj, so it is valid even though it has with it this sin of violating the Sunnah, performing Hajj without a mahram. Allah is the one who grants success, and He, the Exalted and Most High, has the most extensive Wisdom, so she must repent from that.

Irony of life My house was about to be locked ...... On the 29th of November 2021 just because I was not able to pay the rent. I posted it on facebook seeking for help, but all I got were 2 likes & zero comments. So l sent 250 messages to my contact list requesting for a loan of $1500. Sadly only 10 people replied. 6 out of the 10 claimed they couldn't help. Only 1 out of the 4 who said they could help actually gave me some money but the rest only gave me excuses and never picked my calls. In the end, my door was locked. I had no where to sleep. I walked in the dark seeking options and sadly a thief stole my empty purse with my identity card in it. He was badly hit by a fast moving car as he was running away, so he died. Fast forward>> The next day, news quickly spread around that I had died. About 2,500 people posted on my wall how they knew me. How great I was ! A committee was formed by my, *loyal friends* who contributed $18000 to feed guests at my funeral. My colleagues at work teamed up and brought another $4500 for a coffin, tents and chairs. I was to be burried in a coffin worth $1500- the same amount I needed for rent. Relatives also met. It was a rare occasion for them to meet, so they met and contributed an extra $3000. Everyone wanted to volunteer in order to appear they were helping. They printed T-shirts with my image. Each T-Shirt costing $2,50, so the T-shirt man made about $25000 from my presumed death. Everyone wanted to speak at my funeral. There was drama all over from people who never knew how l survived. There was even rumour that I was murdered by my friends. Speeches were made on how talented I was, even by those who never attended my events. The few friends who supported me didn't even get the chance to speak during my funeral - although they knew the Truth. In fact, they were prime suspects for my ‘death’. You could imagine how the scene turned after I showed up alive! Some thought l was a ghost. *THIS IS THE IRONY OF LIFE; WE LOVE THE DEAD MORE THAN THE LIVING* ~ Author Unknown

💠* The Sunnah of spitting out the date seed*

➡️ *After eating a date, the Sunnah of casting aside the date seed from the mouth is to place it at the back of the hand, between the forefinger (index finger) and the middle finger, and not with the underside of the hand, i.e. the palm. So that the fingers do not touch the wet date seed and then the same hand is used to pick another date. *

*As has been reported in the Hadeeth:*

*Abdullaah Ibn Busr reported: "Allaah's Messenger ﷺ came to my father and we brought to him a meal and he ate out of that. He was then given dates which he ate, casting out the date seeds between his fingers and holding his forefinger and middle finger together"... *
📚* [Saheeh Muslim (2042) and Sunan al-Tirmidhee]*

*Abdullaah Ibn Busr from Banu Sulaim said: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ came as guest to my father's house. He offered food to him ﷺ and brought hais. He then brought a drink which he ﷺ drank and then he ﷺ passed it to the one on his right. He ﷺ then ate dried dates and began to put the seeds on the back of his forefinger and middle finger. When he ﷺ got up, my father also got up, and held the rein of his ﷺ mount. He said : Pray to Allah for me. He ﷺ said : "O Allaah, bless them in what you have provided them, and have mercy on them." *

➡️ *It is disliked to put the date seed back in the same dish/plate which contains dates or to hold the dates and date seeds in the same hand after discarding it from the mouth.*

*Ibn Muflih reported in al-Aadaab al-Shariyyah:*

*"And on the authority of Anas رضي الله عنه that the Prophet ﷺ disliked to put back the seed in the same plate which contained dates as mentioned by al-Baihaqee." *

*And Ibn al-Jawzee said in "Aadaab al-Akal" (Etiquettes of eating): "Do not mix the date seeds and the dates in the same plate or in the same hand after spitting it from the mouth. Rather, one should place it on the back of the hand..."*

💠 Recite the Qur’aan with the intention of seeking knowledge and acting upon it.

🎓 Muhammad Ibn al-Hussain said:
❝Know, may Allaah have mercy on us and you, O Ahl al-Qur’aan [1], and O people of knowledge, and O people of Sunnah and narrations, and O group of people whom Allaah تعالى has given the understanding of the Deen by giving the knowledge of al-Halaal and al-Haraam, if all of you were to ponder over al-Qur’aan, as Allaah تعالى has commanded you to do, you would know that Allaah تعالى has made it obligatory upon the Believers – after having accepted faith in Allaah and His Messengers – to do good deeds.

And Allaah تعالى did not praise the Believers – that He is pleased with them, and that they are pleased with Him, and He rewarded them for that by making them enter the Jannah and protection from the Hellfire – except for their Imaan (Faith) and righteous deeds. He تعالى paired Faith with righteous deeds.

A person will not enter Paradise by Faith alone, except when he combines with it good deeds - towards which they were instructed. So, Faith is not completed for anyone (i.e., no one will have complete Faith) till he is truthful with his heart, and articulates it with his tongue, and acts upon it with his limbs. This is not hidden from anyone who ponders over the Qur’aan, except that he will find what I mentioned.

Know, may Allaah تعالى have mercy on us and you, I browsed through the Qur’aan and found what I mentioned in fifty-six places in the Book of Allaah عز وجل, that Allaah تعالى did not make the Believers enter the Paradise based on their Faith alone. Rather, He تعالى admitted them to Paradise by His divine Mercy, and because of their Faith in Allaah - that which He guided them towards, and their righteous deeds.

And this is the refutation of those who say that Imaan (Faith) is: “(Merely) knowing about Allaah”. And this is the refutation of these who say that is: “Knowledge and Statement”, even if a person does not act upon it. We seek Allaah’s refuge from everyone who says this.

Allaah تعالى said in Surah al-Baqarah (2): 25:

{And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: "This is what we were provided with before," and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e., in the same form but better in taste) and they shall have therein Azwaajun Mutahharah (purified mates or wives), and they will abide therein forever.}❞

📚 [Reported by al-Aajurree in al-Sharee`ah (2-616-621]

📑 Notes:
[1] Ahl-Qur’aan: Those who have memorized the Book of Allaah, recite it during the hours of the day and night, and act upon it.

Anas Ibn Maalik رضي الله عنه said: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝Allaah has His own people among mankind.❞ They said: “O Messenger of Allaah, who are they?” He ﷺ said: ❝The people of the Qur’aan - the people of Allaah and the closest to Him.❞
📚[Sunan Ibn Maajah (215) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

And not to be confused with the deviant group who call themselves, “ahl al-Qur’aan”, but have nothing to do with it. By hijacking the name “ahl-al-Qur’aan” will not benefit them with Allaah anything, because they neither follow the Qur’aan, nor understand its meaning, and they refuse to follow the Sunnah.

❝Third: That you recite the Qur’an without making the end of the surah be your main concern. And when you come across the call of “O you who believe”, then pause and look into what it is saying with your heart and with your mind, for it is either some form of good which you have been commanded to do or some form of evil which you have been prohibited from.❞

🔊 Shaikh Muhammad Al-Malki حفظه الله (paraphrased and summarized):

1️⃣ "Taraaweeh", "Tahajjud", and "Qiyaam al-Layl" are the names of the same optional prayers that are offered in the night, after Ishaa and before Fajr prayer.

2️⃣ The word Taraaweeh is plural of the word (ترويحة) which means resting. The Salaf used to offer long prayers and used to take a break and rest after every few Tasleem.

3️⃣ The word Tahajjud is derived from the word (هجود) which means deep sleeping. So, Tajjud refers to the time (night) in which this prayer is offered after waking up from sleep.

4️⃣ Whenever the Prophet ﷺ used to offer the night prayers alone, he used to elongate it so much that his feet would get swollen, as reported the Hadeeth of Aaishah رضي الله عنها.

5️⃣ Nowadays, people are impatient when it comes to the recitation of the Qur’aan. They get irritated and complain if the Imaam elongates the recitation and shortens the Du
aa.

The Prophet ﷺ used to love to hear the recitation of the Qur’aan. Once he ﷺ asked Ibn Masood to recite for him the Qur’aan, and when Ibn Masood reached the Aayah:

فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا ‎

{So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness?}
📚 [Surah al-Nisaa (4):41]

He saw that tears were falling from the Prophet’s eyes.

6️⃣ Some people prefer Masaajid where the Imaam makes longer Duaa, inviting others, saying: "Come to such-and-such Masjid, the Imaam there makes nice Duaa."

7️⃣ In some Masaajid, the Imaams make longer Duaa and shorten the recitation, which is opposite of the way of the salaf.

8️⃣ Elongation of the Du
aa is not proven from the act of the pious predecessors (Salaf), rather, it is something which some of the Imaams of the Masaajid are imitating one another as mentioned by Shaikh Bakr Abu Zaid in his book Bida'ul-Qurra.

9️⃣ Nowadays, people are affected and brought to tears by Imaam's Du`aa more than his recitation of the Qur’aan. This is the opposite of what Allaah تعالى described the Believers in the Qur’aan:

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

{The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely}
📚[Surah al-Anfaal (8):2]

"What could be the reason why someone finds it so hard to pray?"

This is due to their sins. The heavier their sins are, the harder their heart gets, then the harder it is to pray.

It's not just due to lack of knowledge. A lot of Muslims are aware of the rewards of salah, the consequences of its abandonment, and that it could lead them to Jahannam.

But it is their sins that keeps them away not just from salah, but from ANY kinds of worship.

Solution:

1) Give up your sins.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,

“Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better for you.”

[Musnad Aḥmad 23074]

2) Just go make wudhu'. Try your best to perform that prayer. Don't let shaytan or yourself delude you into thinking that you "don't have time." Make time for the one who Created time. Force yourself, as it will keep you away from sins.

Allaah said,

"Surely, Prayer keeps (one) away from indecency and evil, and certainly the Remembrance of Allah is the Greatest, and Allah Knows what you do." {Qur'an 29:45}

In a hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,

“Verily, the Muslim prays while his sins hang over his head. Every time he prostrates, some of them drop. When he finishes his prayer, his sins will have fallen away.”

[al-Mu’jam al-Kabīr lil-Ṭabarānī 6125]

3) Do not lose hope in His Mercy. As long as you're still breathing, there's still hope. And the fact that you're reading this and still reading until this third solution, it only means that He is guiding you towards something good.

Whenever we sin, it doesn't harm Allaah. It only harms us. So fearing Allaah will lead you to a true love for yourself.

Allaah called you with love and Mercy;

"O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." {Qur'an 39:53}

And He is telling you to haste to repentance 👇

"And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.

And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān] before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,"

So do not mock around 👇

"Lest a soul should say, "Oh, [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allāh and that I was among the mockers."

So it won't be too late 👇

"Or [lest] it say, "If only Allāh had guided me, I would have been among the righteous.

But yes, there had come to you My verses, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers." {Qur'an 39:53-59}

May Allaah guide us all and make praying and performing it on time easy for us. 🤲
