The terms "White American" or "White British" are so insidious because you never needed to add race as a prefix, everyone knew that when somebody said "American" or "British" (or even South African) they were referring to Anglo-Saxons or Scots or Normans. Hyphens were for everybody else! So its important to inculcate that at a mental level within yourself. Even a term like "heritage American" is conceding ground (and its designed to include people who had no hand in creating America like Italians or Irish as opposed to "founding stock American"). We are Americans and Britons, hyphens are for the (unwanted) guests

Language is the basis for all morality, because thought, for most people, comes before action and if you can control the language they think in and the words they use, they will conform to your morals and ideas
