Our work centers around the anterior cingulate cortex and we use miniscopes, photometry, optogenetics, and advanced anatomical techniques to interrogate the function of prefrontal circuits with a focus on psychiatric disease states such as depression.
We also deploy clinically-inspired manipulations as probes of circuit function with the ultimate goal of developing novel and/or improved therapeutic strategies for neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Currently funded projects include the role of prefrontostriatal circuits in effort-based decision making and the neural mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).
