👩‍🏫 Dr. Aziza Baubekova

2 fully funded Ph.D. positions in the Hydrology group at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland with an expected start date between February and October 2024.

Position 1: Water Transit Times and Water Quality in Catchments
The first position focuses on improving the understanding of the links between water transit times and solute transport in catchments. This position involves theoretical/modeling work (40%), data analysis (40%), and fieldwork (water sample collection and analyses for water stable isotopes and major ions, 20%).

Position 2: Ecohydrology
In the second position, the emphasis is on understanding the interactions between water and vegetation, particularly using tracers like water stable isotopes. This position involves data analysis (50%) and then a flexible ratio of modeling and/or fieldwork.

Desired Qualifications:
Candidates should have a Master’s degree in environmental science/engineering, geochemistry, soil physics, or closely related disciplines, along with some experience in applied mathematics and programming (Python/R/Matlab). Fieldwork experience and a strong enthusiasm for environmental research are also desired.
