The USF Presidential Fellows Program, an elite and prestigious scholarship opportunity, recruits the most outstanding students worldwide to pursue Ph.D. studies at the University of South Florida.
We are looking for an academically outstanding candidate who is interested in cutting-edge research to study the non-equilibrium high-pressure-temperature processes that occur in exoplanet interiors, inertial confinement fusion implosions, and dynamic compression of condensed matter. We use a powerful arsenal of materials simulation techniques, including quantum molecular dynamics and machine-learning molecular dynamics simulations on exascale supercomputers. The successful Presidential fellow will have an exceptional opportunity to work at the exciting frontiers of high-energy density materials science and collaborate with leading researchers in the field. He/she will contribute to experimental and computational campaigns at national and international user facilities by providing simulation guidance to discovery science experiments. The USF Presidential Fellowship provides a generous support package to highly qualified incoming Ph.D. students, including an enhanced stipend, full tuition remission, medical insurance, and travel funds to attend conferences for up to five years. All components of a student's application dossier are considered, including letters of recommendation, publications, past prizes, awards and recognitions, and undergraduate/master GPAs.
In addition to the above criteria, the applicant must have at least a BSc degree in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field (a master's degree is preferred). I am looking for new graduate research assistants for Fall 2024 in Aerospace Engineering at Penn State University to work on computational and applied aerodynamics in the following areas:
1. Rotorcraft hub drag reduction
2. Ultra-efficient aircraft technologies
3. Hypersonic aerothermodynamics
Preferred qualifications are prior coursework and a strong interest in aerodynamics and/or computational mathematics with strong programming skills desirable. Candidates at both the MS and PhD levels will be considered, and interested applicants should submit their application NLT than December 15th for full consideration.
