Hi, analysts! 👋

🗣️ Let's Discuss: Team Communication! 🗣️

Here are a couple of points to consider:
🤔 Continuous Communication: Is it effective for keeping everyone aligned and ensuring quick resolution of issues, or does it risk interrupting focus and workflow?

🤔 Questions and Clarifications: Does it indicate a good level of engagement and a proactive approach, or could it suggest unclear requirements or a need for better documentation?

Share your thoughts and experiences!👇

How do you manage communication with your team to balance efficiency and clarity?

Hi, analysts! 👋

Let's discuss your most preferable Analysis Approaches 🤔

👉 Better to do very fast and lean requirements and learn from "failing fast" as a team continuing to iterate until its right?

Or

👉 Better to take more time up front to get it all right, but change is painful?

Does one approach take more BA skill than another?
🔥 Can a skilled and experienced BA with strong BA techniques make a lean approach work?

How to Pass a BA Interview with Little to No Experience 🤔

Here's some useful tips from famous Angela Wick 🔥

👉 Show, Don’t Just Tell: 📚 Prepare stories and examples that demonstrate the key success behaviors of a Business Analyst, such as critical thinking, curiosity, teamwork, and the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences.

👉Ask Thought-Provoking Questions: During the interview, ask insightful questions that show you are curious, a critical thinker, and can inspire others to think deeply.

👉Share Hands-On Experiences: 🔍 Tell stories of times when you rolled up your sleeves to solve problems or address key questions and assumptions. This shows your willingness to dive in and get things done.

👉Demonstrate Big-Picture Thinking: Show that you can reset to the big picture—not just for yourself, but also for your team. This is crucial for ensuring alignment and strategic focus.

👉Communicate Step-by-Step Thinking: 🧩 Demonstrate that you are a methodical thinker by summarizing your accomplishments clearly and concisely. This helps convey your logical approach and attention to detail.

👉Show a Basic Understanding of Technology: Demonstrate that you know just enough about technology to understand its impact on users and business strategy. This helps show that you can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

👉Understand the Role and Its Purpose: Show that you have a solid understanding of the Business Analyst role and how it fits within the organization. Highlight the value you can bring to the table.

These are the qualities usually looked for in an inexperienced Business Analyst!

What unique qualities do you think set apart a great BA from a good one?🙂

Scope creep and how to avoid it 🤔

👉Why it happens?

📎Lack of understanding: It can occur on the client or vendor’s side, when the stipulated agreements are not fully understood before the project begins.

📎No plan: By presenting your client with an outline of how the work will be carried out, you can avoid last-minute changes and save time by identifying what has been missed earlier.

📎Gold plating: This happens when the team adds features that the client did not request or that were not previously discussed.

👉How to avoid it?

📎Document everything.
There is nothing better than having everything written:
📌Documenting can protect both parties that the agreed requirements are met without missing something.
📌Provide transparent outlined plan and define project scope clear to you and the other stakeholders in the project.

📎Don't hesitate to ask.
In fact, this must be on both sides, since it is vital that you clearly know what the client's requirements are and that both agree on how it will be carried out.
Сommunication must be constant, clear and allow collaborative work. Therefore milestones will be planned wich will help to optimize the project as it progresses.

📎All changes have a price.
Make sure that the customer and the team takes this into account. Any, even a very small change, at first glance, may lead to extra costs and negatively affect project success.
To avoid constant and haphazard changes establish the change control process. Ask the requester to follow the process to suggest changes. And the most important don’t forget to review those requests with project participants to decide if it's worth changing the scope of the project

Hi, analysts!👋

Cookies vs sessions — What’s the difference?🍪

👉Understanding HTTP's Stateless Protocol

HTTP is stateless, treating each client-server request independently, with no memory of prior interactions. While this simplifies server design, cookies are needed to maintain user state across requests.

👉Role and Nature of Cookies

Cookies are small data files stored on the user's device and sent to the server with each request. They're often used to maintain login status or preferences. Setting HttpOnly and Secure flags helps protect against security risks like XSS.

👉Understanding Sessions

Sessions store data on the server, keeping sensitive information safer. While cookies identify clients, sessions manage data server-side to improve security. However, sessions require more server memory, especially with high traffic.

👉Cookies in Modern Applications

Cookies are widely used to save user preferences. Token-based authentication (like JWT) can enhance or replace session cookies, improving flexibility and security.

👉Practical Use Cases

Cookies work well for persistent settings, while sessions handle sensitive data like authentication. Secure web development relies on understanding HTTP's statelessness and using cookies and sessions strategically.

Hi analysts!
Topic for today is "5 Reasons to Complete CS50 or how to claim that you have studied at Harvard "🤓

CS50: Introduction to Computer Science is a course offered by Harvard and Yale Universities, focusing on computer science fundamentals. In this course, David J. Malan instructs students in algorithmic thinking and efficient problem-solving techniques

The course is recommended for junior business analysts, particularly those transitioning from non-technical careers.🤩

🔸Teaches computer science and programming basics: The course explains how computers work and, more importantly, introduces programming languages C, Python, SQL, and JavaScript, plus Scratch, CSS, and HTML. While it is not feasible to master any language in just a few lectures, the aim is not to become proficient but to grasp the fundamentals and recognize patterns.

🔸Immerses you in the IT context: The course not only introduces technical terms but also emphasizes their correct pronunciation, which is crucial. It is updated annually, ensuring that only relevant terminology is included. For instance, the 2024 edition features a special lecture on AI.

🔸Fills gaps in the technical background: Upon completion, you will find it easier to understand concepts such as abstraction, algorithms, data structures, encapsulation, resource management, security, and web development. Moreover, it covers databases and SQL in detail, which is essential for a business analyst.

🔸Allows you to get into the role of a developer: Through lectures and problem sets (if you are interested, but feel free to skip), you will gain insights into why bugs occur, what debugging tools can be used, and why developers indeed should dedicate time to refactoring code.

🔸It is free: The course content is offered for free and accessible across various platforms and languages (though enrolling on edX is recommended, or, you can find it on YouTube). Additionally, you have the option to purchase a certificate on edX. This will entail completing all problem sets, submitting the final project and paying approximately $219, but this expenditure may not be necessary. The most important is the knowledge gained from the course.
