Is having icons and bowing down to statues Biblical? - 22nd June 2021
It says in the Bible:
Exodus 20:4-5 KJV
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
But some might say that bowing down to statues and having icons is ok because the Israelites made cherubims for the Ark of the Covenant or because Moses made a brazen serpent.
But verse 5 states plainly: "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: [...]"
If you follow the Bible then you know that the cherubims were not made for worship or for bowing down. Actually they would be seen only ONCE a year by the high priest ALONE since the Ark was placed in the Holy of Holies, so it doesn't even make sense to assume that they were to be worshipped in any way.
Some might say "Catholics do not worship Mary or bow down to her, they just pray with her."
Than i ask you, what are the people doing in these pictures?
Picture 1 | Picture 2
Common sense dictates that they are indeed bowing down and worshipping the statues, because they kneel in front of them.
And what about the brazen serpent?
Numbers 21:8-9 KJV
And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. 9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
As you can see the serpent was not made for worship. It was made to test the peoples faith, to see if they would obey GOD or not, for He himself said that they should LOOK at the serpent so they may be healed. He didn't say to kneel down or worship it.
Also it says in 2 Kings 18...
2 Kings 18:1-4 KJV
Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. 2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah. 3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. 4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
As you can see the LORD was pleased with the destruction of the brazen serpent because the Israelites eventually started to burn incense to it. The serpent wasn't meant to be worshipped because GOD does not tolerate idol worship.
Psalms 115:4-8 KJV
Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: 6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: 7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. 8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
Instead of worshipping the creation we ought to worship the Creator of everything.

The first tablets on which God carved the 10 commandments with His own finger weren't made out of the casual stone. The material which was used was much more precious.
Exodus 24:10 KJV
And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
The word "paved" used here is:
H3840
Hebrew: לִבְנָה
Transiliteration: libnâh
English "phonetic" respelling: lib-naw'
Strong's Definition:
From H3835; properly whiteness, that is, (by implication) transparency: - paved.
The Law of God was carved on the transparent blue sapphire stone. Numbers 15:38-40 relates that the colour blue is associated with the Law, which proves this point.
Also contrary to the popular belief and depictions, Exodus 32:15 states that both tablets were written on both sides, not only on one.
Exodus 32:15 KJV
[...] the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

How to keep the Sabbath - 11th July 2021
[PART 1]
It is written that we should keep the Sabbath day, but many people don't know how to properly keep it. The Bible says:
Exodus 20:8-11 KJV
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
It says that we should "keep it holy" and that we should "not do any work" on this particular day. But does it mean that we should just go to church and only not do secular work? Does it mean that performing other everyday activities are ok on the Sabbath? Let us dive deeper and see what actions are specified in the Bible which should not be performed, and which can be done on that day.
In the book of Exodus chapter 16 we see an event in which the Israelites are given manna to eat so as to stop their murmurings and where God uses this opportunity to prove them. It says:
Exodus 16:4 KJV
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
The Israelites were instructed to gather as much manna as they needed. It was also said to them that they should gather twice as much manna before the Sabbath because on the Sabbath day, they would find none.
Exodus 16:23-30 KJV
And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. 24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. 25 And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. 26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. 27 And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. 28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? 29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 30 So the people rested on the seventh day.
The Israelites were tested. Here we see that God was not happy with those who came out to gather manna on Sabbath. But how does that apply to us? This event gives us a clue that since we are to keep the Sabbath commandment as per God's standard, we should not go out on our fields and gather our produce so as to prepare some dishes with them, for it also says "bake that which ye will bake to day [before Sabbath], and seethe that ye will seethe".
From the book of Luke we learn:
Luke 6:1 KJV
And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
Here we see what is allowed to do on Sabbath. While from the book of Exodus we learned that we should not prepare food from scratch, from the book of Luke we learn that we can eat that which is ready to be consumed.
So for example, while we cannot cook on Sabbath like we would do on daily basis, we can easily take an apple, peel it and eat it, because it doesn't need to be thermally processed. If we already have prepared food from the previous day we can easily heat it up in the oven for example, because it doesn't require of us any work. You just flip a switch, wait till it's warm and thats it.
