How to keep the Sabbath - 11th July 2021
[PART 1]
It is written that we should keep the Sabbath day, but many people don't know how to properly keep it. The Bible says:
Exodus 20:8-11 KJV
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
It says that we should "keep it holy" and that we should "not do any work" on this particular day. But does it mean that we should just go to church and only not do secular work? Does it mean that performing other everyday activities are ok on the Sabbath? Let us dive deeper and see what actions are specified in the Bible which should not be performed, and which can be done on that day.
In the book of Exodus chapter 16 we see an event in which the Israelites are given manna to eat so as to stop their murmurings and where God uses this opportunity to prove them. It says:
Exodus 16:4 KJV
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
The Israelites were instructed to gather as much manna as they needed. It was also said to them that they should gather twice as much manna before the Sabbath because on the Sabbath day, they would find none.
Exodus 16:23-30 KJV
And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. 24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. 25 And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. 26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. 27 And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. 28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? 29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 30 So the people rested on the seventh day.
The Israelites were tested. Here we see that God was not happy with those who came out to gather manna on Sabbath. But how does that apply to us? This event gives us a clue that since we are to keep the Sabbath commandment as per God's standard, we should not go out on our fields and gather our produce so as to prepare some dishes with them, for it also says "bake that which ye will bake to day [before Sabbath], and seethe that ye will seethe".
From the book of Luke we learn:
Luke 6:1 KJV
And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
Here we see what is allowed to do on Sabbath. While from the book of Exodus we learned that we should not prepare food from scratch, from the book of Luke we learn that we can eat that which is ready to be consumed.
So for example, while we cannot cook on Sabbath like we would do on daily basis, we can easily take an apple, peel it and eat it, because it doesn't need to be thermally processed. If we already have prepared food from the previous day we can easily heat it up in the oven for example, because it doesn't require of us any work. You just flip a switch, wait till it's warm and thats it.

How to keep the Sabbath - 11th July 2021
[PART 2]
Another instance which can give us more understanding about Sabbath keeping can be found in the book of Nehemiah. When speaking of the good deeds that Nehemiah has done, it says:
Nehemiah 13:14-22 KJV
Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof. 15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals. 16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. 17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? 18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath. 19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. 20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. 21 Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. 22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
Here we can see that Nehemiah banned buying and selling on Sabbath, because it was a profaning act to do. Therefore all kinds of transactions should not be performed on that day. We should not go out shopping on Sabbath day for it is not only a day of rest for us, but also for those who choose to sell their products on that day, even though they do not want to keep it. When we choose to buy anything from the person who sells on that day, then we are guilty of profaning the seventh day. We cannot help our fellow man in sinning, but we should rather reprove him, and the best we can do is to stay away from his business on that day so as to not be a partaker of his sin.
Next, in the book of Isaiah we read:
Isaiah 58:13-14 KJV
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Here God says that He will bless us if we won't do our own pleasure nor speak our own words on the Sabbath day. It means that we shouldn't do and say that which we will do and say on daily basis. The Sabbath day should be spent in a way which would help us forget about our every day toils, problems and excitements.
Isaiah 56:2, 6-7 KJV
2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
[...]
6 [...] every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, [...]
In these verses God says that if we will keep the Sabbath from polluting it, He will bless and exalt us.

[PART 3]
In the book of Jeremiah we can find a similiar denoscription of the Sabbath keeping as in the previous book.
Jeremiah 17:19-27 KJV
Thus said the LORD unto me; Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem; 20 And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the LORD, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates: 21 Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; 22 Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers. 23 But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. 24 And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein; 25 Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever. 26 And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD. 27 But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
Here we have a repeat of that which was spoken of in the book of Nehemiah so as to settle down what should not be done on the Sabbath. God also said here, that if the people of Judah would hearken unto Him, He would bless them and would make the city of Jerusalem to stand forever. If they would not hearken unto Him, the fire would be kindled against the city and it would not be quenched. This denoscription contains the truth also for our day. It is prophetic as it correlates with the End Times, for the same type of unquenchable fire will be present when the wicked will be cast into hell. (Mark 9:43-48) Therefore it solidifies the fact that we should also keep the Sabbath day.
But is that all the info which the Bible gives us about the Sabbath keeping?
While we learened in this study so far that we should not buy and sell, cook, work or carry heavy objects on Sabbath, we can also read in the book of Matthew about what is allowed to do.
Matthew 12:11-12 KJV
And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
A quick example of this would be, a loved one is sick and a medicine is needed to help them, then it can be purchased on Sabbath day. So don't worry if you have to go to the corner market to buy something on Sabbath if it's an emergency. In this case when you have to buy something you won't sin.

How to keep the Sabbath - 11th July 2021
[PART 4]
Some have asked if it's ok to be intimate with ones spouse on Sabbath day. I ask, would that not also be considered "thine own pleasure"? This gray area can be well lit when we peer into what Moses was asked to tell the people gathering to meet with the Lord one day long ago...
Exodus 19:10-11,14,15 KJV
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, 11 And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. 14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes. 15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
If this holy day of meeting with the Lord was to be done so in a sanctified manner, would not the Sabbath, which He sanctified in Eden before sin entered the world be just as holy, if not more so? Is this not the same God we commune with that was at Sinai back then? Does He not expect and deserve the same reverence even now? Especially since He is about to return for us, His people?
The amazing thing here is, there aren't many things we cannot do on Sabbath. It's not as restricted as some make it out to be. I don't look at Sabbath as a day that I can't do this or that. It's more like a day I don't have to do this or that, and I get to do this and that. In other words, there are many things we can do on this holy day that can make it a joy to behold.
For example, Sabbath is the perfect day to forget all about our troubles, our jobs, and any other aspects of life so we can truly rest and relax. On this day we can find a blessing and oftentimes enriching fellowship with like minded believers when we attend church. It doesn't matter if you have no church in your area either. You can do this at home, with friends in a small home church you can start, or if you have Internet, or even a phone you can attend with believers in real time online. Not like the TV and radio pre-recorded services that are mostly all about money anyway. Sabbath has always been the day when believers would gather to worship the Lord. In fact, Jesus Himself, our perfect example did this perfectly each 7th day He walked among us 2000 years ago. Speaking of Jesus, Luke said...
Luke 4:16 KJV
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
Another thing we can do on Sabbath is show God how much we love, honor and respect Him. Think about that for a moment. He gives us one day a week to do for Him what He has done for us every day of the week since birth. Yes, most of us do this each day as well in evening, mid-day and morning prayer, but on Sabbath it is especially good to do so because in Heaven itself He is resting and looking upon us with love.
Psalms 89:7 KJV
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.
As many of us have learned over the years, if we study His Word diligently, to fear Him is to give Him reverence. What better day to do this than on Sabbath when all the hosts of Heaven are in worship of Him as well. It is written in Matthew 6:10 that His will is done on earth as it is in Heaven, and since we understand this God we worship is one that never changes according to Malachi 3:6, then is there Sabbath service in Heaven?
Isaiah 66:22-23 KJV
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

How to keep the Sabbath - 11th July 2021
[PART 5]
This is a holy day! Even in Heaven it is considered holy. Nothing that defileth should enter therein as far as I'm concerned. Reason I believe this is because Sabbath is also kept in Heaven. According to Revelation 21:27, Heaven is a kingdom where, "...there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie..."
Another wonderful thing we can do on Sabbath is to visit the sick and pray for their healing. Do you recall the man that was sick 38 years who laid by the pool of Bethesda waiting for the angel to trouble the waters so he could enter the water to be healed? Do you recall what Jesus did for this man, and when?
John 5:8-9 KJV
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
Jesus Himself declared on more than one occasion that doing such things on Sabbath was a very good thing.
Matthew 12:10-12 KJV
And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
The Sabbath day is to be a delight, a day of worship, and a day of rejoicing each and every week. What a blessing He has granted us in this busy world we find ourselves in. Our Lord has promised us that if we keep this day holy, He will bless us. So on top of all the things we can do on Sabbath, one is we can receive blessings from Heaven for simply keeping one day out of seven for Him. Praise His name!
With all that being said we will finish this study by adding one more thing:
Leviticus 23:32 KJV
It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
The Sabbath day is to be kept from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, because days in the Bible start and end on sunsets, not at midnight as it is today.
We hope and pray that this study taught you something and gave you more understanding on Sabbath keeping. If you're willing to read and learn more, please see this page.
God bless! ❤️

🚨 "They’re killing people. The only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated, and they’re killing people," says Biden when asked about his message to platforms like Facebook.
Just as now they blame the unvaccinated for the surge in COVID cases, soon with the Climate Change agenda in sight, they will blame the Climate Change deniers for the climate catastrophe. And as students of prophecy know, they will blame Sabbath-keeping Christians for everything because they won't follow along with man-made Sunday rest laws which will contradict the 4th commandment of the Law of God. The prophecies must be fulfilled, so don't be afraid. Jesus foretold us that they will persecute us for His name's sake.
Stay strong, stay vigilant. Keep your eyes open.
The prophecies must fulfill.
Matthew 10:22 KJV
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
