🔊Weekly Market Highlights #159: July 14 - July 20, 2025

✨Week 3 of July 2025 once again marked a record-breaking milestone for the crypto market, as the total industry market cap surpassed $4 trillion for the first time this year. This surge came on the heels of Bitcoin and XRP reaching new all-time highs, while Ethereum jumped over 20% amid strong buying pressure from major institutions.

The week also witnessed a historic development for the industry: the United States officially passed the GENIUS Act, legalizing stablecoins and opening the door for this segment, widely projected to reach a trillion-dollar scale.

✨Over the past week, the crypto market total capitalization increased by ~$177B (from ~$3731B to ~$3908B).

✨BTC Stabilizes Around $118K
✅BTC kicked off its rally last week by finally breaking past the $110K resistance, quickly surging to a then all-time high of $112K. The momentum continued through the weekend, pushing BTC close to $119K for another peak.

✅The real highlight came on Monday, July 14, when bulls drove the price above $123K, setting a fresh all-time high and marking a gain of over $15K in just five days.

✅A pullback soon followed, with BTC dipping below $116K over the next couple of days. However, it held firm at that level and managed to recover some ground later in the week. Despite testing the $120K and $121K zones, the asset failed to break higher and has since stabilized around $118K.

✨Featured News
✅On July 19, 2025, President Donald Trump officially signed the GENIUS Act: the first U.S. law regulating stablecoins. The act sets a clear legal framework for USD-pegged digital assets, requiring 100% backing, regular audits, AML compliance, and oversight by the Fed and OCC.

Widely supported by the crypto community, the law is expected to legitimize stablecoins in daily finance, boost financial innovation, and accelerate on-chain economic growth.

✅According to the Financial Times, President Donald Trump is planning to allow U.S. pension funds to allocate capital into assets like gold, private equity, and cryptocurrencies.

If enacted, this would mark a major policy shift, as federal and state pension funds have traditionally been limited to bonds and large-cap stocks. As of March 2025, U.S. pension funds manage assets totaling $8.7 trillion.
