Ernest Hemingway's Suicide

Early in the morning of 1961, while his wife Maria was still asleep in the upstairs bedroom, Ernest Hemingway walked into the lobby of his Idaho home, selected his favorite shotgun from the hunting rifle rack and committed suicide.

While he was still alive, he complained constantly to friends and family about being followed by agents of the FBI.
