There are many cases where a megalith or a small piece of rock was carved, leaving the surface always machined.
If you think about it, it is unlikely that ancient people gouged something out and then sanded where they hollowed it out from.
If they had hollowed out, not machined the surface, there would have been noticeable rough chipping on any stone.However, everything is perfectly flat.
