The Companions Had The Purest Of Hearts & Were The Deepest In Knowledge
'Abdullaah b. Mas'ood (radiallaahu 'anhu) said: "Whosoever wants to follow a path then let him follow the path of the one who has died; for indeed the living one is not safe from the Fitnah (trials and tribulations). Those were the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) they were the best of this Ummah, the purest and the most pious of hearts from them, the deepest of them in knowledge and they were the least of them in Takalluf (overburdening themselves). They were a people that Allaah chose to accompany His Prophet (ﷺ) and to establish His religion. So recognise their rights and adhere to their guidance, since they were upon correct guidance."
In explanation of this statement of Ibn Mas'ood (radiallaahu 'anhu) Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah mentions: "So he described them with having perfection in purity of heart, alongside with completeness in having deep knowledge. And few among the latecomers (later generations) have this (quality). As is said - from the bizarre and astonishing affairs is - that 'he is a Faqeeh but yet a Soofee' or that 'he is an 'Aalim (a scholar i.e. one possessing much knowledge) but yet he is a Zaahid (a person who does not possess anything)' and things similar to that. For indeed the people who have piety and purity of heart, good intents and purposes are commended for their hearts being safe and sound from evil intents and purposes, however, it is often combined with them not having knowledge and understanding of certain realities and conditions of the creation which is obligated for the criticism of evil, forbidding from it, and fighting in the path of Allaah.
(On the other hand), the people who delve too deeply into the 'Uloom (different types of knowledge and sciences) at times they attain understanding of evils and doubts which cause them to fall into different types of misguidance and deviancy. Whereas, the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) were the purest in heart alongside possessing the deepest of knowledge.
Moreover, then most of those who are deeply absorbed and immersed in the sciences from the latecomers, their delving deeply into affairs is coupled with blameworthy Takalluf (imposing overburdening excesses upon themselves) that are taken from the Mutakallimeen and the worshippers; it is statement and action without knowledge, and seeking that which is not possible to reach and attain. And the Companions of Muhammad (ﷺ) along with being the most complete of people in beneficial knowledge and righteous action - they were the least of them in Takalluf (overburdening). You would only find one or two statements coming from anyone of them about wisdom or about knowledge; yet Allaah guides by way of it a whole Ummah. And this is from what Allaah has blessed this Ummah with.
Furthermore, you will find other than them filling pages with overburdening excesses and unbridled thoughts. It is what is considered to be from the greatest redundancy and excess of the innovators, and concocted opinions; for which they do not have any Salaf except for the frivolity and foolishness of the souls that is taken from one who had evil intent towards the Deen.

The Virtues Of Servitude To Allaah
Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullaah mentions a Great Benefit
When the servant (of Allaah) commences the morning and the evening whilst not having any concern except for Allaah alone; then Allaah, the One free from all imperfections, will take care of all his needs and remove everything that troubles him. And He will empty his heart out (in order to replace it) with love for Him, and likewise his tongue for His remembrance, and his limbs for His obedience.
However, if he commences the morning and the evening whilst his concern is preoccupation with the Dunya (worldly matters), then Allaah will burden him with the worries of the Dunya, its distresses and its misfortunes and he will be left entrusted to himself. So He will preoccupy his heart away from the love of Allaah to the love of the creation, and his tongue from His remembrance to the remembrance of the creation, and his limbs from His obedience to the service of creation and being preoccupied with them. So he will be toiling away like a donkey in the service of others. Just like the example of the bellows of a blacksmith, it fills its stomach with air and squeezes its ribs (to expel it), all for the benefit of others.
So anyone who turns away from the servitude of Allaah and His obedience and love will be put to trial with having servitude to the creation, having love for him and in service to him.
Allaah the Most High says: “And whosoever turns away from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allaah), We appoint for him Shaitan to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him.” [Surah Zukhruf: 36].

The Reason For Making Du’aa For The Rulers
Fudayl b. 'Iyaad (d. 187H) rahimahullaah said:
"If I had a supplication (Du'aa) that would be answered, I would not make it except for the ruler."
It was said to him: “And why is that O' Aboo 'Alee?”
He said: “If I were to make it for myself then it will not go beyond me.
However, if I were to make it for the ruler; then through the rectification (uprightness) of the ruler comes the uprightness (correction) of the worshippers and the lands.”

The Khawaarij Are Despicable And Vile Filth
Muhammad b. al-Hussain al-Aajurree (d. 360H) rahimahullaah said:
The scholars from the past and present do not differ that the Khawaarij are an evil people, they are disobedient to Allaah, the Most High, and to His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam); even if they pray, fast and strive much in worship then that will not benefit them. And they make a show of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil but that will not benefit them because they are a people who interpret the Qur'aan in accordance to whatever agrees with their desires thereby they deceive the Muslims. Whereas Allaah, the Most High, has warned from them, His Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) has warned from them, after him the Rightly Guided Caliphs have warned us from them, and the Companions - may Allaah be pleased with them all - have warned us against them and likewise whoever followed them upon goodness.
And the Khawaarij are ash-Shuraat (the incensed and obstinate ones), the most despicable and the vilest filth. And whoever is upon their Madhhab from all the rest of the Khawaarij then they inherit from one another this (evil) methodology, the old and the contemporary. And they revolt against the rulers and they make the killing of Muslims permissible.

Shaykh al-Albaanee rahimahullaah said:
“Indeed today, with great regret, we complain about the aggression of the polytheists and disbelievers against the Muslim lands. If those al-Khaarijoon (rebellious renegades) have the zeal to rebel and fight against some Muslim rulers, then (instead of that) let’s see them go and fight against the unbelievers and the polytheists, but they only want to spread Fitan (discord and strife) among the Muslims.
Therefore, due to that reason I am in reality very doubtful about two matters (regarding the Khawaarij - renegades):
(Firstly) about the true reality of the Islaam of these people (i.e. the Khawaarij). Meaning, that I fear that they are from the enemies of Islaam who are deceptively wearing the garbs of the Muslims.
(Secondly), if it is the other (reality), and that is that they are actually Muslims but they are ignoramuses upon the highest degree of ignorance.
Therefore, al-Khurooj (rebellion) is absolutely not permissible, for this reason we see those who rebel (i.e. physically) or those who call (i.e verbally) to rebellion are either infiltrators that have infiltrated Islaam, or they are Muslims; but upon an extreme degree of utter ignorance in (the religion of) Islaam which Allaah revealed upon the heart of Muhammad ('alayhi as-Salaat wa salaam).”
