European Central Bank To Lift Rates To 20-Year High — Analysts
Analysts expect the ECB to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to their highest levels since 2001 on Thursday despite the bloc slipping into recession.
Although ECB President Christine Lagarde said earlier this month that the bank is “approaching its cruising altitude,” inflation will have run above target for four years, according to member Isabel Schnabel.
“It’s hard to spot any real growth prospects on the horizon,” warned UniCredit economist Erik Nielsen.
