I will add a caveat on metadata. A GrapheneOS photo should not have any metadara at all when taken from the camera. That is the point of a privacy phone OS. EXIF is another tool to help fight fake images in addition to a trained eye. There is too much crap being flooded into the system. We can no longer take things as true when looking at photos.

Images are not easy to work with as everything is containerized this means having to run containers like bloated flatpaks. You can't install your software the standard way.

If a captive portal is ever placed in the image. Immutable would not be able to remove that type of offending software. You'll be stuck if you wanted to access the system. Immutable has it's place in embedded systems like gaming consoles and IoT. The standard way things are right now is fine.
