Tracking: Facebook/Meta can track half of all activity on the web
"IT giants like Facebook know a lot about which pages users surf on the Internet every day. A lot. By now, this should be common knowledge, but a new study by researchers at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) and the universities of Zurich, Lausanne and Yale now quantifies the extent of daily monitoring on the web.
Tracking
The scientists estimate that Facebook/Meta can track more than half (52 percent) of the online activities of all web users via its advertising and tracking network. This primarily means which websites are called up, but to some extent the company could also see and evaluate clicks made there. Viewed from a different perspective: These figures cover 40 percent of all time spent on the Internet - worldwide.“ -DerStandard
