Role
The Government of Alberta (GoA) is looking for an internet-era Executive Director, (of) Platforms to lead our Government as a Platform effort within the newly formed Digital Delivery and Innovation Division of Service Alberta.
Your priority is to build and manage platform services like digital identity, digital payment, notification and engagement, user-experience data collection, and content and document management. You’ll succeed by establishing and scaling teams that are iterative, user-centred, data-driven and focused on digital delivery with Cloud-era ways of working.
Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister, the Executive Director will be responsible for the next generation of shared components, APIs and data-collection and management services needed by teams across government. Success is measured by delivery of platforms that enable high-value digital public services and high-quality working environments for public servants. (🐖s)
Our team expects you to have platform leadership experience but to prefer loosely coupled solutions. (Shady…) You will have a track record of iterative, user-centred, data-driven digital delivery and demonstrable expertise in Internet-era ways of working.
This role offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Alberta’s public service... The position may be eligible for remote work within Alberta.
Qualifications
Known for your strategic senior leadership and innovative problem solving abilities, you have extensive experience leading digital transformation at scale within large, complex organizations and hands-on digital delivery experience as a senior practitioner and practice lead. Throughout your career, you have been a champion of user-centered design and a pioneer of new technologies.
You thrive in a sometimes ambiguous, constantly evolving environment and have extensive experience leading change management. You see problems as puzzles and understand how each piece will fit into, or impact, the whole picture.
Systems-thinking and stakeholder relations will be crucial to your success as you work closely with other ministries to create shared platforms and data services, address common needs and identify efficiencies to help the Government of Alberta become a leader in public service delivery.
A post-secondary education in computer science or related field is required.
