South America seems to be going the way of the Heartland / Eurasian Bloc… maybe the Heartland vs the Rimlands worldview is correct… Atlanticist NATO never did much good as a ally to South America anyways…

The jabs cause people to make one type of coronavirus antibodies. But the study suggested the immune system’s ability to beat the virus also depends on other antibodies - and the shots hamper the production of those.💉

🇪🇬🇸🇸 Egyptian National Bank opens first branch in the cash strapped youngest country in the world South Sudan.
🇸🇩🇸🇸 During the 19th century when the Ottoman Empire as it was already was in decline it gave Egypt considerable levels of autonomy after a revolt and European countries were rushing into Africa and with the Suez canal being established, Egypt was indispensable for the British.

Ottoman Egypt also controlled what we know today as Sudan and that arrangement and the policies were deeply unpopular and it took an 18 year long war called the Mahdist War to pacify Sudan and establish the Anglo Egyptian condominium over the more Arab Islamic North of Sudan and the more Christian and to a lesser extent the more traditional African religion types in the South.

Even during colonial times towards the end of the British rule there was religious ethnic and tribal clashes between those from the North and the South.

The first Sudanese civil war technically began even before the January 1st independence from the Anglo Egyptian condominium.

… The first Sudanese civil war lasted until 1972 ending with the Addis Ababa agreement which saw autonomy given to the South Sudanese regions.

That peace lasted a decade before a 22 year long war began from 1983-2005 and it saw one of the highest civilian death tolls since WW2.

In 2005 an agreement was reached to end the war and give even further autonomy for a 5 year period followed by a vote on independence which passed near unanimously.

Throughout both civil wars, Ethiopia was an absolutely critical ally for the SPLM rebels who would ultimately win independence from Khartoum.

🇪🇬🇸🇩🇸🇸 Egyptian economic interests like this operating in Sudan is not a surprise given the close relationship between President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and especially the two main Sudanese military leaders Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan "Hemetti" Dagalo. However for this to happen in South Sudan with the huge appreciation of the Juba authorities... That's an intriguing development.
There's three either conflicts or brewing conflicts in the region many get mixed up.

🇪🇹 The civil war between the TPLF and the Federal Government. When it began the Sudanese did shut down the border as Abiy Ahmed wanted them to but Khartoum consolidated control in Al Fashaga.

🇪🇹🇸🇩 Sudan and Ethiopia have been long at odds over Al Fashaga an extremely fertile area of Sudan on the border that Ethiopia claims as its own. During colonial and pre colonial times it was mixed between Sudanese Arabs and Ethiopian Amharas.

🇪🇬🇸🇩🇪🇹 Egypt and Sudan are at odds with Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance dam. Egypt fears it will slash their water supply, Sudan fears issues in it's irrigation, and Ethiopia needs the dam for electricity.
🇩🇪🇱🇹🇪🇺🚂🇷🇺 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday sought to cool tensions in the Baltic region by urging Lithuania and the EU to lift restrictions on freight transport from Russia to its Kaliningrad exclave, arguing that EU sanctions against Moscow should not apply there.
