On This Day in 1972 the IRA murdered David Griffiths, 20. British Soldier shot in the back in lower Falls. Rifleman Griffiths had only been in the army for 16 months and was already on his 2nd tour of Northern Ireland. He was buried with full military honours after service in St Ambrose, Liverpool.
