Gemini crypto exchange co-founder, Tyler Winklevoss, keeps on saying that Bitcoin is the best asset to hold.

In his tweet Winklevoss pointed out the main advantages of BTC over the precious metal. He noted that BTC is much easier to store, share and move, and harder to counterfeit than gold.

In addition, the co-founder of Gemini stressed that due to limited emissions, the BTC deficit will only increase. This will lead to a long-term rise in the asset price.

📈Bloomberg suggests that Bitcoin should be $15,000 according to this adoption metric

Bloomberg’s crypto analyst Mike McGlone believes that the recent all-time highs in Bitcoin’s hashrate and more importantly, the 30-day average of active Bitcoin addresses, suggests a $15,000 price level for the asset:

“The Bitcoin hash rate continues to increase and recently reached new highs. Also advancing are addresses used. A top metric for adoption, the 30-day average of Bitcoin addresses is equivalent to the price closer to $15,000 when measured on an autoscale basis since 2017.”

McGlone has remained optimistic about Bitcoin throughout its ups and downs. He says that Bitcoin appears to be a leader in “paradigm shift toward digital money and stores of value” and although he admits that it can still fail, he believes this to be unlikely, concluding:

“Our graphic depicts primary on-chain metrics that would need to reverse for Bitcoin to not keep appreciating in price — the hash rate and active addresses.”

European Commission officially proposes regulatory framework for crypto-assets and stablecoins

The European Commission has today officially proposed a regulatory framework for crypto-assets and stablecoins after a leaked draft proposal went viral last week.

The 168-page official draft proposal (provisional), published Thursday, highlights the need for a "sound" legal framework, clearly defining the regulatory treatment of all crypto-assets that are not covered by existing EU financial services legislation.

Crypto assets, especially stablecoins, have the potential to become widely accepted, said the commission. Hence, they would be subject to "more stringent requirements" regarding capital, investor rights, and supervision. The proposal is in line with the leaked version from last week.

❌Breaking: Binance blacklisted in Russia

The Russian Roskomnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information, Technology, and Mass Media) added the cryptocurrency exchange Binance to the blacklist.

According to the announcement published on the platform's Russian portal, the regulator concluded that the Binance's website contains the forbidden information. Namely, the regulator cited information about purchasing cryptocurrency (Bitcoin).

The company emphasized that it had never received any notifications or warnings from state authorities or law enforcement authorities. Now the legal department is consulting the experts to clarify the issue.

At the time of writing, the Binance website and services are still available for the Russian users.

⏰Tomorrow at 12.00 UTC Coinlist closes the NuCypher WorkLock participation window. For those who are not familiar with the event, Worklock is an opportunity to get NuCypher tokens for free by freezing your ETH for six months. In total, the project will be distributing 22.5% of tokens (225 million).

🔍To get the number of tokens per ETH frozen we divide the total distribution number by ETH locked. This gives us 1000 tokens per ether (this is, most likely, a pessimistic forecast). At a pre-sale price of $0.13, each ETH means we’ll be getting $130 worth of NuCypher tokens. Considering the project scope, $130 can be multiplied by several X.

Freeze, pause, reboot: Projects react differently to $200M KuCoin hack

KuCoin reported at least $129M of the affected funds are ‘safe.’

Following news of a security breach resulting in the loss of more than $200 million worth of tokens on KuCoin, many projects quickly reacted to prevent users’ holdings from being moved off to other exchanges. 

Speaking to Cointelegraph, KuCoin Global CEO Johnny Lyu said at least $129 million of the tokens affected in the breach and the Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and ERC20 hot wallets impacted were “safe” or in a position to be recovered. Though reports initially stated hackers got away with $150 million in tokens, new estimates put the total closer to $200 million.
Hackers stole a number of ERC20 tokens as part of the theft, but many projects were quick to react to the breach.
