📣 Software Community Announcement – Android 17: Codename & Features Updated!

Hello friends 👋
We just received double confirmation from Android Authority (two independent articles) that:
🍩 Android 17 will carry the internal codename Cinnamon Bun (written as CinnamonBun in API level 37.0).
Cinnamon bun, aka cinnamon roll, is a sweet roll typical of Europe and North America.
🔍 Why was “Cinnamon Bun” chosen?
A. Alphabet reset: Google reset the alphabetical order starting with Android 14 QPR2 due to the switch to Trunk Stable development.
C. Statue alert: A new Android statue in the shape of a cinnamon bun is likely to appear in Google's Mountain View office.
📅 Estimated Release Timeline:
A. Android 17 Developer Preview:
November 1, 2025
B. Android 17 Stable:
June 2026 (probably the second week as there is no specific date)
🚀 Features definitely coming to Android 17
Not rumors, but code analysis from AOSP & Google Announcements:
1. Material 3 Expressive – new color themes, blur, icons & animations.
2. Desktop Mode – freestanding windows + taskbar on external monitors.
3. Live Updates – real-time notifications in AOD, lock screen and status bar.
4. Local Network Protection – separate permission for local network access.
5. Vulkan 1.4 + ANGLE required – improved graphics and game performance.
6. Intrusion Logging – encrypted activity logs for attack detection.
7. Better App Adaptability – responsive apps must be available on tablets and foldables.
8. Split QS & Notification – separate panels like some OEMs.
9. Gemini Magic Actions – AI action buttons in notifications.
10. Ambient AOD Blur Wallpaper – blurred background on Always On Display.
11. Maximize Keyboard – keyboard zooms during full screen magnification.
12. Hub Mode Ready – iOS-style idle screen mode.
