🇸🇾 🇯🇴The Jordanian military downed a drone from Syria carrying crystal meth into Jordan on Sunday
"War-torn Syria has become a hub for a multi-billion-dollar drugs trade, with Jordan a main transit route to the oil-rich Gulf states for a Syrian-made amphetamine known as captagon, Western anti-narcotics officials and Washington say.
Citing a source within the Jordanian armed forces, the state agency said in a statement the drone was "taken control of and downed".
The Jordanian military has previously downed drones from Syria carrying narcotics or weapons but has rarely identified seized drugs as crystal meth.
Military and security officials from Jordan and Syria have met to discuss ways to curb the growing smuggling problem. Despite pledges by Damascus, Jordan says it has not seen any real attempt to clamp down on the illicit trade.
There was no immediate comment from Syrian authorities. In an interview last week, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denied Syria's role in the drug trade, saying that ending narcotics smuggling was a common interest that Syria shares with Arab countries."

🇩🇪 Germany is debating whether to ban the far-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD) as the party surges to 21 per cent in the polls, amid warnings from intelligence officials that its members are becoming increasingly extreme
In a rare move, the respected Der Spiegel news magazine weighed into the debate with a leader noscriptd: “Ban the enemies of the constitution!”
It warned that “the AfD has become more and more radicalised. It’s time to defend democracy with better weapons”.
The co-leader of Olaf Scholz’s ruling Social Democrats also said a ban should be considered if the AfD is categorised as a group of “proven Right-wing extremists” by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

🇺🇦❌🇵🇱— UKRAINE IS PLAYING WITH GERMANY AND THE US FOR A CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT IN WARSAW
Since May this year, a number of incidents have occurred between Poland and Ukraine.
First off, the disproportionate reaction to the Polish FM's comments in a media program that called for the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to apologize to Poland for the Volhynia massacre, followed by the Ukrainian Institute for National Remembrance claiming Ukraine would not resume the exhumations of Polish victims of the Volhynia massacre until Poland restored monuments on Polish territory to the Ukrainian liberation army. Next was the Ukrainian grain embargo, in which the European Commission took Ukraine's side. Poland led the charge on behalf of other Eastern European countries when banning Ukrainian grain import bans. This eventually led to every European country bordering Ukraine to ban grain imports, which the European Commission would reluctantly allow.
Ukraine then accused Poland of trying to stop the transit of Ukrainian grain and falsely accused Poland of being in violation of the World Trade Organization's rules. And last week, the Ukrainian government summoned the Polish ambassador to Kiev after the comments made by Polish President Andrzej Duda's chief aide about Ukraine's lack of understanding for Poland's farmers and that Kiev should be more grateful for Polish help.
In the editorial written by Polish political scientist Dr. Przemysław Żurawski vel Grajewski, he reaches the conclusion that Ukraine wants to join NATO, and that the U.S. perspective will be the final decision maker. However, regarding EU membership, he believes that Germany will make the final call. Ukraine seems to think that defeating Russia is in Poland's national interests, Poland will support whatever Kiev will do, so a liberal Polish government backed by Washington and Berlin seems like the better option for them, and by cooling relations with the incumbent Polish govt., they seek that.

⚡️🇪🇬🇯🇴🇵🇸 The Egyptian-Jordanian-Palestinian summit has finished in Alamaen, Egypt.
The King of Jordan, The President of Egypt, alongside several Palestinian factions and political organizations, held a meeting.
The Leaders affirmed the priority of international and Arab legal references to settle the Palestinian issue and stressed the following.
1) The necessity of ending the Israeli occupation within a clear timetable and restoring the full rights of the Palestinian people
2) The need to stop settler terrorism and extremist currents and hold them accountable
The King of Jordan and the Palestinian President also praised the role of Egypt and the Egyptian President in uniting the Palestinian ranks and ending the division, especially in Gaza.
No.1 most likely refers to Israeli occupation of Jerusalem, not the actual entity itself, as most Arab leaders are in favor of returning to 1967 borders instead of the complete abolition of Israel.. so far.

🇵🇱 Polish government plans referendum asking if voters want ‘thousands of illegal immigrants’
Poland’s ruling party wants to ask voters in a referendum whether they support accepting “thousands of illegal immigrants from the Middle East and Africa” as part of a European Union relocation plan, the prime minister said Sunday, as his conservative party seeks to hold onto power in an October parliamentary election.
Poland currently hosts more than a million Ukrainian refugees, who are primarily white and Christian, but officials have long made clear that they consider Muslims and others from different cultures to be a threat to the nation’s cultural identity and security.
EU interior ministers in June endorsed a plan to share out responsibility for migrants entering Europe without authorization, the root of one of the bloc’s longest-running political crises.
The Polish government wants to hold the referendum alongside the parliamentary election, scheduled for Oct. 15. Morawiecki said that the question would say: “Do you support the admission of thousands of illegal immigrants from the Middle East and Africa under the forced relocation mechanism imposed by the European bureaucracy?”
The video announcing the question includes scenes of burning cars and other street violence in Western Europe. A Black man licks a huge knife in apparent anticipation of committing a crime. Party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski then says: “Do you want this to happen in Poland as well? Do you want to cease being masters of your own country?

🇫🇮 Finns Party mastermind defends long-term goal to leave the EU.
Finland should aim to leave the European Union in the long term, but Russia's invasion of Ukraine means European unity should be the priority for now, the far-right Finns Party's Jussi Halla-aho said ahead of a party congress on Saturday.
Halla-aho, author of the anti-immigration party's "Fixit" policy that envisioned an EU exit in 2019, is expected to be nominated during the congress as its candidate for a presidential election due in January 2024.
Opinion polls show the hardline former party leader is unlikely to win the presidency, but his views are influential within the Finns Party, which is part of the right-wing government that took office in June.
"It is justified that we aim to leave the EU in the long term," Halla-aho told Reuters, citing "a democratic deficit" in which the EU limits member states' sovereignty.
"But at the same time, of course, we recognise that in the prevailing world situation, a fragmented Western Europe would be much weaker against the threat of totalitarian countries," he said. The Finns Party backed the country joining NATO this year.

🇫🇮 Finland negotiating Defence Cooperation Agreement with the United States
The agreement will dictate the specifics regarding the stationing of US troops in Finland for military exercises and overall preparedness, which would be the first instance of an extended foreign military presence in Finland during peacetime.
The agreement's primary aim is to grant US military personnel access to facilities and areas within Finland for training, weapons storage, and equipment maintenance. This includes the potential use of airports, harbours and designated training zones.
It is likely that the US military would be granted access to at least one airport and harbour, as well as a training area. The Finnish Defense Forces' (FDF) existing barracks or locations in close proximity might be allocated for US use.

🇺🇸 Barrels of drinking water for migrants walking through Texas have disappeared
As one of the worst heat waves on record set in across much of the southern United States this summer, authorities and activists in South Texas found themselves embroiled in a mystery in this arid region near the border with Mexico.
Barrels of life-saving water that a human rights group had strategically placed for wayward migrants traveling on foot had vanished.
Usually, they are hard to miss. Labeled with the word “AGUA” painted in white, capital letters and standing about waist-high, the 55-gallon (208-liter), blue drums stand out against the scrub and grass, turned from green to a sundried brown.
Exact counts of those who die are difficult to determine because deaths often go unreported. The U.N. International Organization for Migration estimates almost 3,000 migrants have died crossing from Mexico to the U.S. by drowning in Rio Grande, or because of lack of shelter, food or water.
Humanitarian groups started placing water for migrants in spots on the U.S. side of the border with Mexico in the 1990s after authorities began finding bodies of those who succumbed to the harsh conditions.
On one of his rounds in July, Meza said, 12 of the 21 stations he maintains were no longer there.

🇨🇳 July 26 2023 | China Abandons Paris Agreement, Making U.S. Efforts Painful and Pointless
President Xi Jinping reiterated that his country would set its own path on the issue and not be influenced by outside factors. This contradicts Xi’s 2015 Paris Agreement pledges to reduce its carbon emissions at the latest after 2030.
Xi’s remarks came while climate envoy and former secretary of state John Kerry was visiting Beijing to reopen a dialogue. This was shortly after Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived, and just before former secretary of state Henry Kissinger, the architect of opening China to the West 50 years ago, came for a visit.
The clear signals from China are a deliberate slap in the face to America and provide a rationale for a bill sponsored by Representative Chip Roy (R., Texas) to defund Kerry’s climate-change office at the State Department. The bill is cosponsored by over two dozen other House Republicans.
This should not be news, because Xi gave the same message last fall. In October 2022, he said that China would not abandon coal-fired power plants before renewables could substitute for the lost fossil fuel. But this substitution will not occur because fossil fuels generate substantially more energy than renewables.
Xi’s remarks should resound in the halls of the Environmental Protection Agency, which is planning to impose billions of dollars of costs on Americans to reduce U.S. emissions. China has repeatedly stated that it has no intention of going along with the Western push to net-zero.
In April, the EPA released a proposed tailpipe rule that would require 60 percent of new vehicle sales to be battery-powered electric by 2030, and two-thirds by 2032. And in May, the EPA proposed a power-plant rule that would require most power plants to sequester, or bury, 90 percent of their carbon emissions, or go out of business by 2040.
These rules would result in tens of billions of dollars in annual costs to the U.S. economy—and with no reduction to global emissions, if China replaces U.S. emissions with its own emissions.
