WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Agency for International Development is on the cusp of being shuttered, according the Trump administration’s billionaire adviser and Tesla CEO Elon Musk — who has been wrestling for control of the agency in recent days.
Early Monday, Musk held a live session on X Spaces, previously known as Twitter Spaces, and said that he spoke in detail about USAID with the president. “He agreed we should shut it down,” Musk said.
“It became apparent that its not an apple with a worm it in,” Musk said. “What we have is just a ball of worms. You’ve got to basically get rid of the whole thing. It’s beyond repair.” “We’re shutting it down.”
His comments come after the administration placed two top security chiefs at USAID on leave after they refused to turn over classified material in restricted areas to Musk’s government-inspection teams, a current and a former U.S. official told The Associated Press on Sunday.

Elon Musk says President Donald Trump has 'agreed' USAID should be shut down
Early Monday, billionaire Trump advisor Elon Musk held a live session on X Spaces, previously known as Twitter Spaces, and said that he spoke in detail about USAID with the president.
"I met with Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino and Foreign Minister Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez to make clear that the United States cannot, and will not, allow the Chinese Communist Party to continue with its effective and growing control over the Panama Canal area. We also discussed efforts to end the hemisphere’s mass migration crisis and ensure fair competition for U.S. firms."

"Turkey and Saudi Arabia had planned to launch a ground operation in early 2016 in Syria against Assad. Saudi Arabia even sent its F-18 fighters to Turkey, but the plan did not go ahead because the U.S. refused to provide air support/coordination. The U.S. stated that the situation had become complicated after Russia's intervention in Syria.
When a Western journalist asked a Saudi official whether it was risky to conduct a ground operation in Syria with Russia present, the Saudi official responded, "Losing Syria to Iran is more risky for us than Russian risk."
After Trump was elected in 2016, Saudi Arabia aligned itself with the UAE and completely abandoned its involvement in Syria.
In December 2016, Russia helped Assad recapture Aleppo and then shifted focus to East Ghouta. At that point, the Saudi establishment believed the war in Syria was over.
Saudi Arabia, along with the UAE, then took more aggressive actions, including the blockade of Qatar and the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey. These events severely damaged Saudi Arabia’s relationships with both Qatar and Turkey.
On February 28, 2020, when 34 Turkish soldiers were killed by Assad’s forces while defending Idlib, many Saudis on Twitter celebrated the incident. This reaction drew criticism from Syrian Sunni activists like Mousa Alomar. Around the same time, a video surfaced showing Turkish soldiers beating Assad’s soldiers, and many prominent Saudis on Twitter condemned Turkey for it.
Fast forward, Saudi Arabia has accepted Assad and is rehabilitating him by inviting him multiple times to Saudi Arabia.
And here we are now...
Hopefully, Saudi Arabia has learned its lesson and will not align itself with the UAE’s losing camp again."

"Poor, sad Mexico. International drug cartels operate freely within their borders and Mexico can’t do anything about it.
It is “childish, magical” thinking to expect our southern neighbor to have barely functioning law enforcement."

According to him, these CIA-backed riots triggered a coup d'état that toppled Ukraine's neutral, democratically elected government.
Just one month before the coup, a leaked call between Victoria Nuland and the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine exposed that she had already handpicked the country's new cabinet.
"So they're picking the new government a month before the old government is overthrown."

The most consequential decision and executive order which came within the opening days of President Donald Trump's administration has without doubt been his "reevaluating and realigning US foreign aid" — which sent shockwaves through Washington especially given federal funding has been cut to USAID in a shock blow to the agency. But it is also having a massive ripple effect throughout the world. Some foreign powers will welcome the news, while many allies as well as an assortment of US-backed 'opposition groups' will feel completely abandoned.
This has meant that pro-Western media outlets, NGOs, and 'soft power' organizations are in panic mode. This has basically overnight shutdown a multi-billion dollar regime change apparatus which pushed or often imposed American interests throughout the globe, especially in the very vulnerable Third World, as well as former Soviet satellite regions. The way this works on a practical, on the ground level is detailed in the well-known book Confessions Of An Economic Hit Man. As for Trump's apparent efforts to dismantle the powerful USAID agency, we compiled some of the best current analysis from around the web outlining the huge significance of this move, which is nothing less than a historic reset (and we say a very welcome reset) of Washington's relations with the rest of the world.

Hegemony was going to end sooner or later, & now the US is basically choosing to end it on its own terms.
