Politico journalist Dasha Burns asked the US president whether Ukraine should hold elections.

“Yeah. I think so. It’s been a long time. Things aren’t going very well. Yeah, I think it’s time. They’re using war not to hold an election, but I would think the Ukrainian people should have that choice. And maybe Zelensky would win. But they haven’t had an election in a long time. They talk about a democracy, but it gets to a point where it’s not a democracy anymore,” Donald Trump said.

M23 have captured the large towns of Luvungi, Luberizi and Sange along the N5 highway - Uvira direction, eastern DR Congo.

Large-scale Burundi reinforcements, FDNB, have arrived in Dunda, along the border. Violent clashes are ongoing between the M23 and the FDNB in Kigurwe, which is the final FDNB stronghold before Dunda.

In the past few hours, the M23 have entered the town of Runingo from the north, where clashes are taking place between the Rwandan-backed group and the Congolese military, FARDC. M23 are now less than 20km from Uvira.

In the past 48 hours, a few Wazalendo Maji-Maji factions defected and have joined the M23, most notably the large Maji-Maji group of Lungwe.
