Mainnet Delay Announcement
Project Artemis, and particularly Phase 3 and 4 allowed us to run end-to-end testing of the Cudos Network with our community and Validator pool. Additionally, we achieved successes in happy path tests and significant coordination efforts to execute a dress rehearsal deployment of the software.
This means we are now experienced in running the genesis deployment that will be our official mainnet and executing our CUDOS token migration between the two chains.
While we're delighted with the progress we made, unfortunately, we saw some abnormal scenarios during our intensive tests. We've been working tirelessly to investigate these abnormalities and understand what we saw and what impact it may have.
Consequently, this investigation resulted in a rolling delay to our intended release schedule.
Thankfully, we were able to resolve many of these issues and have shipped new code fixes. However, we're still facing several issues that we deem to be of high severity that require additional engineering attention.
As we want you to be as informed as possible, here're the issues we're addressing:
Chain Halt - We found a way to halt the chain using certain resource-intensive transactions that would cause problems with peer connectivity.
Gravity Bridge implementation - We experienced some issues with our implementation of Althea's Gravity Bridge. So, we need to take some new code through a third-party audit to ensure the bridge liquidity is completely secure.
To fully address these concerns, we'll be pushing out our release schedule again to accommodate time to ship new code, test it and then re-test it.
Ultimately, we'll have a much higher quality mainnet network and a robust security architecture to run our token migration.
We appreciate that the delay is frustrating to the community eager to use the new network and migrate their tokens.
Yet, security is paramount, and the outcome would have been far worse if we had rushed a release and encountered problems in a live decentralised network.
We apologise for the delays and are grateful for your patience.
Great things take time, and we're confident that our network will live up to the expectations once it goes live.
We couldn't have gone this far
without your help and support and would like to thank you. Also, we'd like to kindly ask you to continue working with us as we build a more decentralised, sustainable, and equitable web together.
We will unlock the Ethereum staking contract and allow Delegators and Validators to unstake or stake additional tokens, probably by the end of the week.
"Our stakers will receive ERC-20 CUDOS rewards equivalent to the amount they would otherwise earned while the contract was paused."
