Why should we pray for our nation?

Well, first of all God commands it.

God is very clear in the noscriptures about what he commands us to do when it comes to praying for our country.

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,”

What is the Christian’s role as a believers in our nation?

As Christians, our role is not just to simply live and work for the American Dream. Scripture clearly states that the role of the believer in the society infiltrate where unrighteousness and darkness have permeated and make themselves at home. Therefore, it is our job to act as salt and light in a world of darkness.
We are the preservative to keep the decay from overtaking. We are ambassadors of the Kingdom of Christ in our communities, cities, states, and country.

How do we pray for our country?

It may seem overwhelming and discouraging when it feels like the enemy is gaining more territory in our nation than Christian values.

We should pray because too many of us have chosen to rest on what is comfortable to us and not sought what God is calling us to. We need to return to God.

““The Lord was very angry with your fathers. Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.”
Zechariah 1:2-3 ESV

Let’s pray

A Prayer of Repentance

Heavenly Father,

God, heal our land!

We ask that You bring others to worship and glorify our name.

In humbleness, as a nation, we turn away from sinfulness and turn towards You. Forgive our nation for the ways it has drifted and turned away from You. Move hearts in America to repent from all forms of evil.

Free our land from rebellious actions and attitudes aimed at You and our nation’s godly heritage. Send Your Holy Spirit, to move across our land, softening and transforming hearts to believe and receive the forgiveness You so generously and freely offer to all through Your Son Jesus Christ. Across the United States of America, replace hearts of stone with new hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26).

I pray that You will give us a spirit unified in Your spirit, Lord, and that we will respond to Your call to gather together and seek Your face collectively.

God bring about a national assembly in our nation and use it to effectively place us in a position for You to manifest Your presence among us like never before.

We need You Lord in order to stem the tide of unrighteousness in our land.

We praise You that Your desire is for all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:4)

Cause our biblical foundation to be restored and our leader's hearts to be turned towards You. Bring our nation to its knees, looking to You alone as our hope and salvation.

Revitalize our hearts first in the church so that we can then take that love for You to others throughout the nation restoring hope and transforming lives.

In Your name Christ Jesus, amen.

Testimony Tuesday

Have you ever felt a need to stop suddenly what you are doing, or find your self praying for fervently out of the blue for someone?

Sometimes, I will be in the middle of a project or task and suddenly I feel a sense to pray for someone. That individual will pop into my mind. I usually start praying for them not even knowing why.

That is God’s Spirit nudging you to pray. Pay attention, and obey quickly. God is using you to take authority and pray over a situation.

Never under estimate the power of God that resides in you.

The following video is about praying and taking authority over a situation without even realizing the full reason, but you know you are supposed to pray.

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Luke 10:19

The second video is about God’s intervention for protection. I’m talking inexplainable ways that He intervenes.

I personally recall a time God intervened while I was driving in my car with my daughter. We were on our way home from shopping. I was approaching a signal which was green for me…the speed posted is 45 mph. As I approached the intersection my foot stepped on the brake and I slowed to an abrupt stop. I said out loud to my daughter “Why did I step on the brakes? It’s green for me.” As soon as I realized it I took my foot off the brake to step on the gas pedal and in a split second another car in the cross traffic ran their red light at that intersection right in front of us. I could feel that moment when my body released a surge of adrenalin. You know that pit in your stomach you feel? That instant panicked feeling. That driver would have T-boned my car and hit the passenger side where my daughter was sitting.

The driver blew through the intersection at a high speed. We both looked at each other and I said; “Did you see that? Had I not hit the brakes that car would’ve hit us.” My foot automatically hit the brakes and I didn’t know why until after the fact.

We both realized something miraculous happened. The light was green and I knew it, and yet my foot involuntary stepped on the brakes a moment before that driver ran the red light. Only God!

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;”

Here is the original link to Kara’s encounter with the veteran whose name is Clark. I did some research and found out this is a recent post. I also found a link from her IG post for the GoFundMe for Clark. I will post that as well. Thank you.
